Waiting for the next episode? Or at least a trailer? Are you bored out of your tiny mind running in circles on the current living world map? Can't wait to run in circles around a new map?

Well, why don't you go play some Fashion Wars? Too hard? Can't be bothered to copy a meta build from gw2style.com? You think you want your own style, but you don't know how to find it? Are you afraid of giving your human female actual clothes, because you don't know how to dye them?

By the Alchemy, do I have the solution for you!

While you've been running in circles, some of us have been busy researching, and distilling that knowledge into a gizmo that even you can use! So here it is, fresh from our Asuran labs:

I'm supposed to do a little dance here, but I'm not paid enough for that.

How do dyes even work?

I've distilled all my research notes into that gizmo, so click the link and read them. I'm not going to explain it twice!

And what magnificient features does that tool offer?

  • Find similar dyes, either by RGB or HSL. Maybe you can find a dye that fits better, or maybe you just want to find a cheap knockoff of that gemstore exclusive.
  • Find dyes with the same hue, if you're going for that monochromatic look.
  • Find dyes based on RGB values. Use your mad MSPaint skills to extract RGB values from that screenshot, and find a dye to match.
  • Did you know that dyes have a contrast? You would, if you had read my research notes. So go and group dyes by contrast! Maybe sharper contrasts look good on your dress. Maybe less contrast looks good on your face. Try it!
  • Having trouble finding dyes that go well together? There's nothing easier than grabbing the good old color wheel and finding eleven different dyes, with compatible saturation and brightness, all across the color spectrum.

Asking for Help

Of course a genius like myself doesn't need help, but I.. uh.. can't be bothered with all the trivial details. So I'd like to delegate some work to assistants.

  • The previews would look better with actual armor textures. Unfortunately my pickaxe can only mine orichalcum, but not data. Would any real data miners assist?
  • If you know your way around a data console, the source code is available on github/kulinda/dyes.
  • If you can't actually contribute, you can still make yourself feel clever by suggesting an "idea", either for improvements to this gizmo, or towards my next grande invention. Maybe someone cares. Only one way to find out!

GW2 official forum has the worst moderator I've ever seen..

Disclaimer: I will not reveal any of the ID in the posts to protect both party, this is only discussing about how the GW2 forum moderator handles the moderation.

Anyway, there's a post in GW2 forum discussing about the issue of instant lv80 scrolls affecting new players. The op of the post wants Anet to stop selling those to new accounts in order to prevent new players ruining other people's experience because they're lv80 players with no experience of the game at all.

I offer advice as to how to avoid this issue when playing in other group contents like fractal/ wvw, and there's a guy replying that he played GW2 for as long as 6 years now and only have 5.6k AP, but claiming he is better than most people that're still playing.

I reply with disbelief and have fair share of reasonable doubt because as someone who also played GW2 for 6 years too, I know how easy to get AP by just playing the game (I personally have 33K AP, yet I won't claim myself better than most despite having experience in fractal/ wvw/ pvp/ all the other contents), not even being rude or offensive, but just sharing my doubts and saying why I do not believe that's the case. (You can easily get 10k+ ap in 6 yrs without even trying)

Instead of getting a reasonable argument from the other side of the party, I got a moderation from the moderator.

So tell me, is this some kind of joke? GW2 forum has become a lala land or something that couldn't even voice disbelief and doubts ? As you can see in the screenshots, I'm not even being offensive, and support my arguments with reasonable arguments, yet I'm being counted as too rude ? The other side bragging about how good he plays without proof is totally ok then?

This is also not the first time I got moderated for such ridiculous yet small incidents.. It seems it's better not to post there at all since there's no freedom of speech and you can only brag about how good your builds are and complain about how bad the game balance is .. (That's all I ever see on that forum)

[Suggestion] Quality of life suggestion player names on dropped items/portals.

I'm pretty sure a majority of Gw2 player base are tired of running into troll boxes, bobblehead stations and portals on top of intractable objects. My suggestion to combat this is to add player names to said items, for instance.."Fireflanks steaks dropped by (insert name here)" or their name under the item/portal name, so we could add the person to our block list and their portals/items won't show up to us anymore. Let me know what you guys think!

gw2 randomly switching to desktop after latest windows 10 update

Title says it all ever since my pc updated (yesterday) its been randomly switching to the desktop during load screens and then it comes back to the game after the load screen is done. anyone else experiencing this issue?

So I've been thinking about the power scaling of the classes in the context of lore. Now I'm no lore expert. I have a basic understanding of GW1 lore and a medium level understanding of GW2, a bit more than the basics but not quite a full grasp. However the story doesn't seem to give a good grasp of each classes capabilities in world. So I'm wondering if anyone has any idea how to go about understanding which ones would be more powerful in the world of Tyria.

New mount skin idea

Hey everyone! So the other day I was doing daily meta stuff in HoT and suddenly something crashed in my head and I was thinking... Why do we not have a Mordrem Raptor skin as a legendary skin (2k gems)? I mean it moves somewhat like our raptor, not to far off so wouldn't be terrible for a legendary idea.. I don't know what the other people out there thinks but I sure as hell wouldn't mind having a mordrem raptor as my mount. What are your thoughts on this?

Custom Text Colors for Chats

Hey there.

The title kind of says it all. What do you guys think about this? I personally am not a fan of the default brown color for guilds you aren't representing and would like to be able to make a custom text color for all my guilds, in order to make it a lot easier to distinguish between all 5. Do you guys think this is something Anet would ever do/ can even do to begin with? I feel like it would add a bit of QoL to the social aspect of the game.

If you could subclass a single traitline from another class, which combination of class and traitline would be the most powerful?

The limitation is to class and traitline only. I.E. you can subclass to chronomancer elite spec and select traits that augment wells, but you won't necessarily have access to wells unless the class you've selected already had access to them in the first place.

Currently I'm having and internal struggle. I'm have a female char ranger at level 80 and all hero points/ect but I'm highly debating with my inner self to buy a character boost to get a ranger asura...

So I'm curious, have you ever leveled or boosted a character specifically to play a different race?

Problem with features of this elonian face

I have a human female character and I noticed that everytime I go to Aesthetician or try to use TMK - I can't change features of the first elonian face. I can choose the face but using sliders doesn't change anything. It works fine with other faces but not with this particular one. Is this a common problem? Please, try it and let me know, thanks :)
