Playing vs an SF at mid ? This might help...(or maybe not idk some gibberish)

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 09:53 AM PDT

What is this ? Some numbers to keep in mind when laning vs/ ganking an sf so he doesn't turn on you and insta kill, Also helps bait razes before you're gonna TP base, salve up. Skip to the table if you don't like reading.

So, I was analyzing all SF games and matchups (because I had struggles playing vs him at mid as meepo) and I often noticed how players (me included) die to him because they underestimate or miscalculate the damage that 2-3 razes can do. Same goes for people who gank an SF with squishy supports. The SF goes under tower/uses fairy fire , turns back and 2x Raze into an ez swipe.

I noticed this happen not only in my games but at much higher MMR (A rank 600 meepo spammer fell for this in like 4 games that I analyzed , his teammates included, Miracle and RTZ bait ganking supports way too often in pubs)

I made this table to keep track of the damage that raze does per level (2x and 3x razes) so next time when I play I can have a rough idea about the amount of HP I should have to safely go close to the wave and poof/remnant with meepo/storm.

It can also help if you have a salve and want to bait razes to drain mana before you go on him.

SF Level Raze Level (As expected from General Skill build) Damage taken from 2x Raze EHP to survuve 2x Raze Dmg Taken from 3x Raze EHP to survive 3x Raze
1 0 0 0 0 0
2 1 230 173 420 315
3 2 380 285 660 495
4 2 380 285 660 495
5 3 530 398 900 675
6 3 530 398 900 675
7 4 680 510 1140 855
8 4 680 510 1140 855

Faceless Void: Backtrack or larger Chrono?

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 06:02 AM PDT

I always get backtrack since it adds survivability. It's also hilarious to dodge enemy nukes like Laguna Blade and Finger.

New patch Windranger changes, core windranger, is magical right click build possible, and more

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 05:04 PM PDT

TO start this let me state that im just a legend 5 pleb and that i am just a casual dota 2 player.

Now that we have set that aside, i wanted to say that the new changes on Windranger make her a very unique but useful kind of core. What i think- A hybrid right click WR, with magical damage and physical damage. You go mid, buy 2x nulls and phase, first item maelstrom, buy veil of discord afterwards. Then a javelin and Blink dagger into agha. This build is amazing because you can use the javelin you bought to buy MKB(amazing item on WR right now) so- your powershot deals significant magic damage, maelstrom got buffed to 170 damage, and javelin procs or mkb procs deal 100 magical damage. With veil of discord, its amazing. I just played 2 games to try this build out and it works great. you will take the windrun slow talent, attack range talent, invis/shackle talent depending on game and the level 25 talent is also highly situational.

To put into perspective, the game i just played, by using the simple combo of blink+shackle+veil+focus fire i was able to kill a PA with deso abysal and bkb before the shackle ends. Without mkb. Yes. Because javelin also gives accuracy, and maelstrom now doesnt miss on chain lightning. With the damage from Agha + MKB and the rest of your kit, you deal a shitton of single target damage which is both amplified magic(veil) and simple physical.

Thoughts?

Do you think Mjollnir Void is now a thing again?

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 08:07 PM PDT

Higher cost to Battle Furry for flash farming, MKB no longer gives attack speed ... Void loves both of those things.

I remember Mjollnir was all the rage on him a few patches ago before the BF change - is that going to be the way to go now? Or with Maelstrom not giving any early AS either, is this just a straight nerf to Void overall?

I guess there's always the MoM build, but I hate that since the self-silence really forces you all-in.

Did the new patch buff Bloodseeker again?

He just seems to be getting buff after buff to me

Completely new but absolutely willing to learn anything and everything. Here are a few questions.

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 12:23 PM PDT

  1. The generic one: differences between Dota 2 and League?

  2. What keeps you hooked on playing Dota 2?

  3. What's the point of eating the tree things? Are they simply a basic potion equivalent, except with a terrain resource requirement?

  4. What are some tips that you can give to fellow new players?

Aghanim's Scepter on Storm? Isn't it like a mobile Magnus?

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 09:49 AM PDT

The only problem I see is that it does not provide mana regeneration. (When) Should you get Aghs?

is there a way to stop focus fire windranger?

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 11:42 AM PDT

every time i use windranger, enemy always bought blademail to counter my focus fire. i know that you can stop focus fire use hold or stop key, but if enemy use the blademail he can move closer to my hero, so is there a way to stop the ult and i also can move?

Help me understand/learn Mirana

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 03:10 AM PDT

After spamming Brewmaster for a while I want to try something new. I randomly picked Mirana a few days ago and I played 3 games so far. I like her but I'm struggling with what is the best role for her.

In all 3 games I first picked her. In the first two games my team quickly demoted me to "position 5" by picking 4 carries so I spent the games warding with Magic Wand, RoA, OoV and Phase Boots. It wasn't bad but I felt that we would have been better off if a SS or WD was doing this.

In the third game I was more adamant about farming, so I had RoA, Phase Boots, Aghs and Diffusal Blade. The hero felt much better this way but I wasn't a big fan of how the Aghs upgrade Starstorm can be popped by creeps. It's very annoying when that accidentally happens before the enemy heroes arrive to a team fight.

Anyway, what is the best position and build now for Mirana? Is there someone who (still) plays the hero and has good streams? I looked around on dotabuff but recent builds are all over the place with very diverse items.

Good Mid hero vs Tinker that isn't TA

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 08:34 AM PDT

I hate TA. I just got destroyed as OD by a 6k smurf Tinker but I blame it mostly on myself allowing him to laser me each time I went for a last hit. And the lack of supports ganking. What is a good hero that could deal with Tinker mid well besides TA?

Changes to MKB, Mjollnir

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 02:07 PM PDT

Is now Mjollnir better on slark vs evasion heroes? Since MKB was so amazing earlier. I always bought silver edge first for pa... Not maelstrom but Mjollnir because of attack speed.

Also Techies is added to CM.

What is the impact on force staff? 4 times the mana cost does it really make a difference? I play Techies for reference.

Can you not report/mute coaches?

Posted: 25 Apr 2018 09:52 PM PDT

Had a game where the coach spammed noise into the mic and I couldn't figure out where to mute him and I couldn't even report him at the end of the game. I've never hated this game more after that match, this is pretty unacceptable

How will the 7.14 changes effect Broodmother

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 09:48 AM PDT

I assume spawn spiderlings can be used as more frequently used nuke now but the armor decrease to spiders, do you think this will negatively effect her as effectiveness as a whole?

Should you put off buying BKB for later to reserve the full duration for late game teamfights?

How does reporting and low priority work? Is it automated?

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 06:58 AM PDT

I came to Dota from LoL, which then had the Tribunal, a manual system where players volunteered to judge reported cases. Is Dota's system similar?

What Mid Heroes Are Good To Learn?

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 04:35 AM PDT

How to lane against sniper mid?

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 07:30 AM PDT

Usually my go to hero is razor because of his attack animation and potential to punish sniper overstepping but it seems like against a competent player the lane is just lost. Once he shrapnels you can't get in a good position and he out harasses me ; I can cs decently but it never feels like a good lane to be in.

The ideal scenario would be to have supports ganking him a few time but I play solo queue and its very hard to convince people to roam mid and even when they do they don't have good positioning so I can't get kills.

Which heroes do you pick against sniper mid and what are your tips to keep the lane in control? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I saw a Meepo stacking Dragon Lance. Troll or legit?

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 01:11 AM PDT

I thought he was throwing the game, but he insisted he wasn't and the lances were for 'stats'. I can think of much better items to get stats than an item that doesn't even provide its full benefits on melee heroes.

Advanced lane manipulation?

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 09:11 AM PDT

I always hear a lot about creep control and equilibrium, and I understand the basic premises. I understand pulling overall (even though not necessarily knows when to do it and when not to).I understand basic aggro and how it pushes the lane because you're tanking the damage you creeps should be taking.

But sometimes I read something like "a higher mmr carry can play the lane without a support and still cs and live because he can manipulate the equilibrium." and I guess there's way more to that than what I know.

I was checking a video from rawdota now where he (and I got that because he spoke that he was doing that) pulled the aggro to his ranged creep (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUJnBnOrHYg 4:20).

Other thing that I've heard a couple of times (probably from rawdota too?) is to double wave and I don't get how to do it or why.

How can I understand those more advanced ways to manipulate lane control?

Sylla! (Lone Druid)

Posted: 26 Apr 2018 08:42 AM PDT

Hey All! Sylla is my favorite hero in this game (conceptually) but, I don't really understand his strengths all that well. Can someone elaborate on this for me? More specifically when is it best to go Ranged build vs Melee Build. Thanks again <3

Ancient Apparition

Posted: 25 Apr 2018 10:44 PM PDT

I've been playing AA lately off and on and when I looked at my Dotabuff I had quietly amassed 11 straight wins on him in (mostly) 4k MMR games (and a few party games).

The hero feels really strong to me right now, able to make an impact even with minimal items. Am I wrong thinking that I can just regularly first pick him as pos 5 support?

Probably my highlight game: https://www.opendota.com/matches/3851095822

How does spell reflection (Lotus Orb, Aghanim's Anti Mage) work against channeled spells like Dismember and Fiend's Grip?

Posted: 25 Apr 2018 11:18 PM PDT

I once remember seeing Dismember being cast back on Pudge, but the Anti Mage who reflected it didn't need to channel it, and attacked Pudge freely while Dismember was active.
