League of Legends - Patch 8.7 Bug Megathread

Patch 8.7 Bug Megathread

Posted: 04 Apr 2018 09:27 AM PDT

Greetings Summoners!

With every new patch Riot introduces to balance out champions and items there are some unforeseen issues that creep up and cause disruption during gameplay. We have noticed that these issues which eventually get fixed clutter up the subreddit immediately following the patch.

We want to avoid this by having a single Megathread which will be posted after every patch so that you guys can report the various issues in one place. This allows Riot to easily keep track of the bugs by providing a central hub and also allows other users to confirm that they might have encountered.

Note only bugs caused by the 8.7 Patch should be reported below.

Pre-requisites to be noted before reporting a bug

  1. A bug must be accompanied with a screenshot or a video. This provides credibility to your report.

  2. Steps to recreate the bugs can be submitted if possible. This helps rioters recreate the bug and helps them find the cause behind it.

  3. The bug must have been caused by the latest patch.

Format when reporting a Bug: When reporting a bug, please provide as much information as you can about your computer.

Server: The server you encountered the bug (NA, EUW, EUNE, TR, RU, BR, LAS, LAN etc)

Type of Bug: Client Bug, In Game Bug etc

Description: Describe what was the bug that occoured.

Video / Screenshot: Insert screenshot (F12 in game) or Video of the bug occouring.

Steps to reproduce: Provide the steps necessary if someone else had to reproduce the bug.

Expected result: What should have been the result when you follow the steps mentioned above.

Observed result: What was the result you obtained when you followed the steps mentioned above.

Reproduction rate: If you try to recreate the bug how successful are you in causing it to occur? (1/10 : Occurs once every 10 tries, 5/10 : Occurs 5 times out of 10, 10/10 : Happens every single time)

System specs: Processor, Video card, Ram, HDD/SSD, everything you can provide, even drivers.

Example Bug:

Server: EUW

Type of Bug: In Game Bug etc

Description: Zeds R(Death mark) Does not apply secondary damage

Insert Video / Screenshot of the incident

Reproduction rate: 2/10 (happened 2 out of 10 times)

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Launch a game after selecting Zed as your champion.

  2. Attempt to use death mark.

  3. Observe the result.

Expected result: The damage should apply after a short delay, amplified by damage dealth during the effect.

Observed result: The damage will not apply properly.

• System Specs: Intel i5 Processor, Windows 7, Nvidia Graphics card (insert model number) etc.

PSA: New Manaflow Band is bugged, its possible to lose the mechanic completely on champions with post-death states (e.g. Anivia/Karthus

Posted: 04 Apr 2018 04:29 AM PDT

EDIT: The bug has now been fixed, happy mana-stacking

During my first game of 8.7, as Anivia, i noticed my manaflow was stuck on 100 mana the whole game and the passive was gone. Other people reported the same thing so i tried replicating it, thinking it was linked to mana items or combination of skills. Then going back through my replay i figured it out:

If you enter a post-death state while its on cooldown, the whole mechanic just disappears completely and you're stuck with whatever free mana you got. Tried this with Zilean, Anivia, Karthus and G.A

Edit: Confirmed for Sion and Kog too

Riot is impressivly "down to earth"

Posted: 04 Apr 2018 03:07 AM PDT

I come from a long life of playing Blizzard games and Valve games. These companies has a lot to learn from Riot.

Things Riot do right:

  • They actually communicate with us on both their forums, reddit and in blogs

  • They embrace the meta the game has unlike any other moba has accomplished before them. I think the queue for role is genious.

  • They know what their game is. It is not for the super casuals. It's got a very specific audience and they know what they need to do to embrace this audience. They do not try to make "everyone and their grandma" able to play this game.

  • They react quickly with buffs / nerfs that always feel natrual.

  • They let us choose what theme the next skin should be and update us on how it is made (Illaoi was one I was interested in)

  • They have done a impressive job on making sure the game is a social English language game (unlike for instance Dota 2, ruined by russians and non-talkers)

  • They have done a impressive job on cleaning up the toxisity. I played during the early beta. This was a period where it was a race to type "mid or feed" and you got afks and trolls constantly. Today, I am confident that players will play their assigned role and will be banned if they pull any shenanigans.

  • Patches come out frequently with great patch notes and reasoning

  • Skins come out in a good pace

  • New champions come out in a good pace

  • The balance is overall good. I don't feel like there is any champions that is too horrible to even concider playing. You can reach diamond as any non-meta champion.

I know this is all "yeah of course" to a lot of you guys, but as a guy that has mainly played games like CS, Dota 2, Diablo 2/3 and World of Warcraft in all my life - Riot is doing a very impressive job on this game and I am here to stay.

Riot should give Demonblade Tryndamere and Nunu Bot a VU just like they did with Pulsefire Ezreal.

Posted: 04 Apr 2018 03:43 AM PDT

Pulsefire Ezreal is a prime example of Riot fixing something that was outdated, and if they did that for a ultimate skin - why not do it for legendary skins like Demonblade Tryndamere and Nunu Bot who currently do not fit the legendary tier. Besides voice lines, Nunu Bot doesn't have anything special about it that makes it legendary tier. At least Demonblade Tryndamere has some different particle FX, but it is still extremely outdated.

EDIT 1: This includes skins like Magnificent Twisted Fate, Annie in Wonderland, Gentleman Cho'Gath, Blood Lord Vladimir. I am aware that some of these skins have unique things about them, such as the Nunu Bot laugh and the Gentleman Cho'Gath voice, but they are no longer worth the price tag IMO.

EDIT 2: Yes, I am aware that when Nunu and Tryndamere eventually do get reworks, their skins will be reworked too.

EDIT 3: Formatting.

ALL Problems of LUX Organised

Posted: 04 Apr 2018 07:37 AM PDT

Hello guys, I am a Korean LoL player and this is my first time writing on reddit! (yay) So.. I am not familiar with the format here so sorry if I do something awkwardly.

The reason why I came to reddit today is because I have become annoyed about the recent updates regarding Lux, my fav champion. I played about 500 games as Lux and own all her skins - this shows how much I like her. However I changed my most pick since it became harder to win as her and many Korean users started to classify her as a 'troll' pick. After I have changed my champion selection, I immediately ranked up three tiers and am on going.

On the KR server, Lux's win rate is about 47.7%(115th out of 140) and she definitely deserves a buff. Riot knows this and has been adjusting ult's cooldown. BUT her problem is not about her ultimate! I don't understand why Riot is only focusing on the ult when it is perfectly fine. Lux's win rate has been at standstill for 2 or 3 years now. Plus, u can't see her being selected in pro games. This upsets me as there are so many things u can do to make Lux better; still aren't happening. I wrote several times on Korean LoL communities about this(absolute majority agrees with me), but nobody in Riot cares about the opinions on the Korean communities so I had to come to Reddit(Therefore the content under this is basically the translation of what I have wrote in Korean). I don't know what was spoken about Lux here so I may be talking about some stuff that already has been an issue. Bare that in ur mind plz :D

The problems I will talk about are: 1. Mana 2. Cooltime 3-1. 'W' skill disturbing movement(Riot's working on it) 3-2. 'W' skill being inefficient(Riot's working on it) 4. 'Q' not providing vision 5. Passive mark(Biggest problem) 6. Line push ability

7. 'Q' not working properly

1. Mana This has become bearable as 'Manaflow band' rune has been introduced. However it is still true that a Lux without blue buff will be out of mana when she has pushed three~four minion waves even in the mid-late game. Her 'Q' and 'E' abilities use more mana each time u level them up. When u hit level 3 for 'E', it uses more mana than Blitz's grab. Well… Blitz's grab is a skill that can overturn a game, and on the other hand Lux's 'E' is practically the only attack skill that can deal damage during the lane phase, which needs to be used frequently. Get the problem?

Xerath, a poke mage similar to Lux, uses a lot of mana as well. But he uses less than Lux and can gain mana through his passive ability. This is one of the many reasons(I will go through some later on) behind Xerath having prominent win rate while Lux crawls on the floor of the leaderboard.

Buying ToG is not a good option as Lux will not be able to deal enough damage. The sad part of fighting against a Zed is not the terrifying damage when u get hit by his W-E-Q combo, but the situation of buying a Zhonya first instead of Luden's Echo(Last Chapter) :'(

2. Cooltime The way of surviving as a Lux against the fierce assassins of the rift is tying them with 'Q' or slowing them with 'E'. BUT(another big but) all of Lux's skills ('Q', 'W', 'E', 'R') have cooltime of 10 seconds or more even though u reach their maximum level. I can't think of any other champion who has the same problem as her(please tell me if u know).

Now if I state the first sentence in a different way, Lux is a walking 300 gold worth minion for the next 10 seconds if she has used both her 'Q' and 'E'. Even if u have solo killed Yasuo 5 times during the lane phase, when you miss both your 'Q' and 'E', the 0/5/0 Yasuo - with no worries about his cooltime - will r@pe u.

And what is Riot doing? Reducing the cooltime of Lux's ultimate and nothing else. This is one evidence of them not understanding the actual problem.

3-1. 'W' skill disturbing movement

Oh well, after I wrote tons about the 'W' skill, I found out that most of the problems are kinda being fixed now… ( https://twitter.com/RiotAugust/status/981352417550745600 )

So it is fine to skip section No.3.

If you have played Lux at least 10 games, you will never use your 'W' shield when Katarina uses her ult next to u or when Zed sends his shadow to u. People may say, "Shields are for reducing damage u get and of course u need to use your shield. U Noob." But like the video below, Lux stops for a moment when using her 'W': ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gi_ZBcB3Ue0 )

Because of that when u use your shield u get more damage from Kat's ult and u are more likely to get hit by Zed's shuriken because you stop for a while. Also if u use ur 'W' when running away from ur enemy u will become a mashed potato by their CCs as the distance between u and them will be narrowed.

3-2. 'W' skill being inefficient Lux's 'W' skill is a direction-targeted skill like any other Lux skills that flies like a boomerang and gives out shield twice. So during the lane phase, if u use ur 'W' at the start of damage exchange it is likely that the second shield will return after the whole thing is finished. Then let's use the shield before we do our damage exchange so we have the ull shield ready to be used. Now, what noob would come in to fight when Lux's 'W' is used? USELESS.

Then why not use Lux as a support who uses shield for ADC? Do u remember the Season 7 'League of Censer'? I tried out Windspeaker's Blessings + Ardent Censer + 'W' Master + Pure support items with Lux at that time and got the conclusion that Lux support should be forbidden and is deserved to be permabanned(Lux support is among Yasuo, Teemo support in the 'Troll' pick list in Korea. People will dodge from the queue right away).

Even the amount of shield given is not much at all and it is provided with only +20% AP. To give you a comparison, Janna's shield is +70% AP and Lulu's is +60% AP. And u see, Janna's shield gives AD boost, Lulu's gives additional Pix damage, Karma's boosts movement speed and even Orianna's boosts armor and magic resistance. How about Lux? Nothing.

Far more serious than this, Lux's shield is the odd one out when all the other shields are unit-targeted. Players accustomed to unit-targeted shields do not care about Lux's shield as many of them are not experienced enough to get into the trajectory of the shield(and some even dodge the shield...).

And how much shield does Lux's 'W' provide? Even less than Thresh's lantern. Riot's logic behind this is: "Lux's 'W' can provide shield to every teammates in the path, it is right to have less amount of shield than any other champions."

This is nonsense. In order for every teammate to get the shield, they have to be in a straight line. And what dummies stand in a straight line during the team fight? Is it worth taking the risk of being fried by Rumble's ult, launched into air by Braum's / Nami's / Ornn's ult and teared into pieces by Twitch's / Ezreal's ult to get Lux's shield that is even less than Thresh's lantern? It is almost impossible to give every teammate ur shield and three people(including u) would be a realistic maximum who can get the 'W' shield.

Rework on 'W' is urgent.

4. 'Q' not providing vision ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrOo1iT0WjQ ) Like in the video above, u can only see the enemy beyond the wall or in the bush using ur 'E' or 'R'. However, Lux's main combo is 'Q'-'E'-'R'. If u use 'E' first, it is easier for the opponent to walk out safely so it is proper to use 'Q'-'E'. But u can't know whether or not the 'Q' has landed as it does not provide vision. So 'E' is necessary to check if the 'Q' landed or not. As I mentioned earlier in section 2, a Lux without both 'Q' and 'E' skills is vulnerable to anything. An enemy Talon can hop over the wall when he sees ur skills all spent and it would be an easy kill for him.

Well, there are couple of ways of checking if the 'Q' hit or not without the 'E'. First is the Luden's Echo effect and second is through Lux's lines like "Binding light!", "Gotcha!" or "Stay there!". But these lines come out randomly. It is just silence for most of the time.

Making the passive mark to provide vision would work fine.

5. Passive mark Lux is a poke mage who outplays other champions by skill range. But her passive mark requires her to auto-attack the opponent to deal more damage. The passive mark does burst when the enemy is hit by her another skill but the skills always leave another mark to be burst. Because of this mechanism, Lux's skills deal much less damage than Xerath's when no auto-attack is used.

Range is like the only thing Lux is better than any other mages or assassins in the mid lane. BUT! when u walk closer to release ur auto-attack, u give the range for Katarina to shunpo, Zed to 'W'-'Q'-'W'-'E'-Auto-Ignite, Yasuo to 'E'-'Q', Fizz to 'Q'-Auto-'E'-'W', and Talon to 'W'-'Q'-Auto. And what can our Lux do? She just used her skills and she can do nothing but to die or escape using flash.

"Hey man, Xerath's passive also uses auto-attack. What's the matter?" Xerath's passive is about restoring mana. He can do it anytime he wants. But Lux has 6 seconds(before her skills' cooldown is over) before the mark disappears and it is necessary to burst that mark to deal enough damage.

Furthermore, u cannot relax even if u have hit the opponent with ur 'Q'. The effect of Lux's 'Q' is 'Rooted' not 'Stunned'. It means that u can get counterattacked when u joyfully walk closer to get that mark bursted to a rooted opponent by Ahri's charm, for example.

6. Line push ability Lux lacks the ability to push the line. You need to use all 'Q', 'E', 'R' to completely clear one wave. Otherwise u have to auto-attack every single minions(including caster minions if ur not fed) in order to burst the passive marks after using ur 'E'.

Because of the slow wave clear and the fact that she has no proper skill to escape two men gank, it is very hard to get Lux to split push(this is not so important).

7. 'Q' not working properly Lux's 'Q' is probably one of the skills that have the most bug. The enemy just doesn't stop where he or she needs to be. ( https://attach.s.op.gg/forum/20171025154308_430939.gif )

There are much more than the Renekton above, such as Vi's 'Q', Caitlyn's 'E', Thresh's second 'Q' and so on.

Lux, a champion with unclear identity who is neither a good mid laner nor a good support. Lux, a champion who has overflowing counter picks even all 5 bans are used for mid. Lux, a champion who is in the middle of everything with no exceptional feature.

Please save her, O Riot, please. I will keep on dreaming for a day when I can see her played in the pro stage.

(P.S. Lux is an easy champion to play. AND THAT MEANS THAT SHE CAN VERY EASILY BE DEALT AGAINST AS AN ENEMY.) Thank u for reading :) https://imgur.com/YkjeGuI

With the changes to Presence of Mind you can now get the Cooldown of 'Final Spark' down to 11.475 seconds

Runes

I'm taking the scenario of a 40% CDR Lux that is atleast lvl 16, who has also stacked her Ultimate hat.

Her base Ult CD is at 50 seconds when it reaches Tier 3 so the calculation is:

50 * 0.6 (40% cdr) * 0.85 (ult hat) * 0.9 (Presence) * 0.5 (Kill) = 11.475 seconds

so you can basically use your ultimate on every second Q as it has 6.6 (11*0.6) seconds cooldown, as long as you kill your target within the 1.75 seconds of your ultimate hitting.

That's it, thanks.

EDIT: as /u/Xyltin stated below Cooldown resets work additive so the correct cooldown is: 50 * 0.6 * 0.85 * 0.4 ( | 0.9 - 0.4 | ) = 10.2 seconds, sorry and thank you for actually looking at the calculation!

Faker vs Mata all-time record

Posted: 04 Apr 2018 09:18 AM PDT

Considered by many as the two greatest players of all-time, their head-to-head record lives up to that billing. Mata has more games against Faker than almost any other player in LoL history, with 67 total games played between them.

Mata was one of the only players to have a winning record against Faker for years, that only changed at 2016 Worlds when SKT 3-1'd RNG combined with SKT winning every B0X series against KT in 2017, Faker then had a solid lead. But after this KT's success in both the 2018 spring regular season and playoffs today, Mata has taken the lead again, ever so slightly:

  • 2013 Champions Spring (5-1 Mata)
  • 2013 AMD-INVEN GamExperience (2-0 Mata)
  • 2013 Champions Summer (3-1 Faker)
  • 2013 Champions Winter (3-0 Faker)
  • 2014 Champions Spring (3-1 Mata)
  • 2014 Champions Summer (3-1 Mata)
  • 2014 Masters (1-1)
  • 2014 Regional Finals (3-0 Mata)
  • 2016 MSI (4-2 Faker)
  • 2016 World Championship (3-1 Faker)
  • 2017 LCK Spring (7-2 Faker)
  • 2017 LCK Summer (7-4 Faker)
  • 2018 LCK Spring (7-2 Mata)

Total Record: 34-33 in favour of Mata
