| Posted: 26 Apr 2018 10:34 AM PDT Hello, being that almost half of the NA LCS is new after franchising, I thought it would be interesting to to what u/Pink_Cleats did a year ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/642n5d/i_emailed_the_10_nalcs_teams_asking_why_should_i/ I emailed the 10 orgs via their contact form on their website asking : "I've been playing League of Legends for a year and a half and just this split got into watching the competitive scene, seeing the the whole league is almost brand new after franchising I'm looking for a team that resonates with me and I would like to ask you why should I be a (Org's name) fan?" For Liquid and Optic I directly emailed them since I didn't find a contact form on their website: https://imgur.com/a/G5Y8l7Q For Flyquest I messaged their twitter account since I didn't find a contact form or an email on their website: https://imgur.com/a/eYQycAc And Lastly for Clutch Gaming I didn't found a contact form, or email also their twitter account cannot be messaged so I used Facebook: https://imgur.com/a/N4qHQiS I waited two weeks like the original post, sadly one one organisation took the time to answer: Team Liquid: Why should you be a Team Liquid fan? Well, to be quite honest, that'll be something you will have to find in your heart. But what I can tell you is that we are building a family. In the prior splits, we just focused on trying to get results that we forgot what it meant to have fun. This split, we have a powerhouse roster, but our focus is building a brotherhood and a supportive community around our brand. Hopefully, you'll enjoy watching us play along the way. And from there, decide that TL is the home for you. There's always room for one more in the Team Liquid family. Best, Artress LoL Manager He answered the day after and while I was already loving TL before I also Liked Echo Fox and Cloud9, but now needless to say I'm a 100% Team Liquid Fan. | The Legacy client was removed one year ago. Here is a list of the issues of the new one. Posted: 26 Apr 2018 09:21 AM PDT Hey again! Nightwind42/Naerlyn here once more to discuss the state of the client exactly one year after it became the only client officially usable. Because even one year later (and soon two years after its alpha release), it's still missing a lot of features of the old client, and it's also lacking some bases of what it's expected to do. Once more, this is both about bugs and other issues. I wrote five other buglists on the clients before (Legacy client 1, 6.9 client-breaking patch edition, Legacy client 2, Alpha client, New client 1, New client 2), but this one won't have the same purpose as the previous ones that I wrote about the client. This once, my goal isn't to share all of the bugs I've found, but to provide you with something more meaningful, ranked by importance and not just sorted by category within the client. Because this client has many good things, but has some major issues that really need to be addressed. Should that matter, I play on EUW, but I assume these issues strike all of the Western regions. Part I – The bugsI) The client is disabled while you're in a game. I'm not talking about that option to close the client during the game, no - I'm talking about the fact that you cannot do anything with the client during a game, aside from using the chat. You cannot:
But most importantly: Youcannot see your friends' status while you're ingame. The friends list is supposed to let you know which of your friends are online, are in a game, are in queue, etc… But whenever you're in a game or even just spectating, you can't have that anymore, while it's one of the most basic features of the friends list, and thus of the client. There's been one patch, a couple of months ago (October?) when this worked correctly. For some people, not even for everyone. One patch. II) Bugs with invites II.1) Needless to say, another really basic feature of the client is to invite friends to play. However, that feature is also broken and you'll sometimes not receive the invites that are sent to you, without ever knowing it, and without ever having the inviter know that the invite wasn't received. So the inviter might think you ignored him, you might think they didn't want to play with you, all of this because of a bug. That bug has had pretty bad consequences for me once. II.2) Going alongside is the bug I'm referring to as "ghost invites". Here's a full explanation of these two issues, instead of having to type that again or to paste it. II.3) And to finish with a third bug with invitations, have the "[Name] is currently ineligible to join your party". I'm sure most of you have already had that error message: if you try to invite someone (by right-clicking in your friends list), sometimes that message will pop up and the person will not be invited. How is it triggered? If you play one game after having been in Away, all invitations you'll be sent will be… well, not sent, and will return that error message to the inviter. What should you do if it happens? If you're the inviter, press the Invite button in the lobby, type the name of your friend and invite them. This bypasses the bug. If you're the invitee, I think going in queue solves this, but I'm not certain anymore. If it doesn't, then playing a game will solve it. Or relogging, but that's expectable. II.4) Invitations received while you already have a pending invitation won't make any sound. They'll just make your League taskbar icon turn yellow. You won't see it if you're alt-tabbed to something else such as a full screen video or other game. II.5) Not a bug but needs to be addressed here: When you have a pending invitation, your taskbar icon will turn yellow every time the lobby you're invited in goes in queue or leaves the queue. This means that it's exactly the same notification as receiving a second invite. III) Games that cannot be accepted after a dodge or a queue that wasn't accepted. Ever wondered why you're seeing more queue pops now before you can get into a champ select? It's because of a simple bug that affects everyone. Let's just explain that with two scenarios. a) You're playing with a few premades, you start the queue and find a game. You press Accept. The game found indicator remains there – still as noisy – because you have to wait until everyone has accepted or declined. But the indicator remains there for an abnormally long time. Fifteen to twenty seconds later, you're back in your lobby, with a notification telling you that you failed to accept the queue. What happened there was that someone declined the first queue check, or was afk during it, resulting in it not being accepted. But after that happened, a second game was immediately found (which is common when it's only one person not accepting). But your queue indicator stayed in the middle of your screen while another game was found. So you couldn't accept. Nor could you even know that a game was found, unless you knew how this bug worked. b) Once again, you're with premades, start the queue, find a game, but you also get in champ select. But a few moments later, someone decided to dodge because they forgot their cat in the oven. So the CS background starts pulling away… but it somewhat freezes for you, you never land back in the lobby. You only get there fifteen seconds later, not in queue. Once again there, what happened was that another game was found right as the guy dodged, and the very same issue as above happened. Something was on your screen instead of the Accept/Decline interface, so you were locked out of it, resulting in the ready check not being accepted once more. These two bugs just make queue times longer for everyone, and solely because of a bug and not because of matchmaking or population issues. IV) Champ select issues The client can actually have negative consequences for your games when it can:
Here's what can happen: IV.1) In a draft queue, the champ select can freeze and not display that it's your turn to pick, being stuck on the enemy's turn (and locking you from picking) while it's actually your turn to choose your champion. Video IV.2) Or it can be the lock button not working. Video IV.3) The runes have numerous ways of being able to screw you up in champ select, by making you lose too much time to be able to change everything accordingly. Here, points 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.6, 1.8, 1.9 and 1.10. V) Reconnections are handled poorly. V.1) Maybe that's just me, but I haven't been able to use the "Reconnect" button once (except for spectate). Using it would always give me a black screen, black screen that would stay there for a handful of seconds to then tell me to check my Internet connection. So every single time, I'm forced to close the client and to re-open it afterwards. I'm talking about disconnections during a game, not about not being able to get into the loading screen in the first place – in which case I think you're still able to press Reconnect once the game has started for the others, but I haven't tried since the new client has come out. V.2) Direct consequence of this… If you close the client while you're in a party, you cannot get back in the voice chat. Probably due to the bug 1 disabling the voice chat join-in. But a couple of weeks ago, I was playing a ranked with my premades, premades with which we use the League voice chat as we don't have one another's Discord names. My game crashed before reaching the loading screen, so I closed my client and restarted it. And that's how I found out about this bug – by having to play a ranked without voice chat against three premades using voice chat. Because of a client issue. VI) Chat issues
VI.A.1) Notifications get erased on their own. You can receive a message from someone, get that "1" next to the person in your friends list and in your chat notifications… but after some time (time that can be as high as ten seconds or above… but that can also be as low as 0.1s), the notification will disappear. The message will stay there, but it's up to you to notice it. This can happen whether your chat box is closed, or just open with someone else. VI.A.2) Notifications make a different sound whether they come from the person you've got your chat open with, or any other person. That's normal. However, when the message comes from the person your chat is open with, they sometimes make no sound at all. Not all so convenient when you're alt-tabbed to another game or a full-screen video, forcing you to either miss the messages or tab back to the client regularly to just check if you've received a message from the person you were talking with. Or forcing you to close the chat window after every single message you send, and to open it again for every message you receive.
VI.B.1) The messages are not always displayed properly, take 1: Sometimes, the last messages of the person you talked with aren't shown. They're shown in the preview of the chat, but not in the chat himself. VI.B.2) The messages aren't always displayed properly, take 2: Sometimes, the chat with someone is filled with silver lines and the messages are shown on top of one another, in a conglomerate so messy that it could only be compared to Reddit's understanding of balance. Screenshot VI.B.3) Things happen when you write ryze in a message. This is actually not exclusively about ryze (or rather, "ry"), contrary to popular belief. Many strings cause the last word of your message to be shown on the second line, if your message was short enough to fit in one row to begin with.
VI.C.1) Messages cannot be properly copy-pasted from a one-on-one chat to anywhere else, because while the legacy client would show: VI.C.2) Messages cannot be properly copy-pasted from a one-on-one chat to anywhere else, cause 2, because selecting several messages will make the chat selection seriously bug. VI.C.3) Messages cannot be properly copy-pasted from a champ select / post-game chat, because here's what will be shown when you paste them: VI.C.4) Messages cannot be properly copy-pasted from anywhere, reason 4: If you want to copy something, you need to press ctrl-c twice. This is so weird, and because of it I've now gained the habit to always select a text then press ctrl-c twice in rapid succession instead of once. Not very useful anywhere else. VII) More runes issues https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/8elk6x/all_the_things_that_are_wrong_with_the_runes/ -> Issues 1.1 again, 1.5, 1.7 and 1.13. VIII) Partial list displays The lists of images in your client will not fully load at once. They'll load a couple of images, and will then try to load more once you reach the end of these. This matters in three cases:
VIII.1) Skins: Doesn't matter. They'll load quickly enough. VIII.2) Champions: Barely matters. They'll also load quickly enough in most cases. You'll lose a couple of seconds in the other cases. VIII.3) Item sets: It's a huge pain there. Item sets load about the first 20 items of the list (by default, the 20 cheapest items), and then once you reach the end of that list, you have to wait a couple of seconds scrolling up and down to refresh the thing before it loads another… dozen items. The time it takes to load the entirety of the items is far too long for what it is. IX) Some parts of the client are randomly resetting every now and then – without any patches involved. IX.1) There's a yellow dot right next to the runes that got changed after you've patched your game. Yet it can stay for a long time, or randomly come back. IX.2) When you get a new skin, there'll be the same yellow dot on the "Collection", then "Skin" tab, until you click on it. It comes back after every game you play. IX.3) Some people get gift notifications every time they log in. Unfortunately, without receiving gifts. X) Minor bugs X.1) So, that one is because I'm baffled that Riot hasn't done anything about it yet. I mentioned it a year ago. It's minor indeed, but changing it should theoretically literally only require to change two digits of a number. A constant. Sending a friend request to someone while your friend list is full will send an error message reading that "your friends list cannot contain more than 300 members". Wrong. Mine's on 325. The max has been put up to 325 years ago. Screenshot X.2) Every single time you finish a custom game, it'll read that "you were removed from the party". Even in sandbox. When you're so friendless that you get kicked out of your own party </3 X.3) If you check a ranked ladder other than solo queue (let's say 3v3, picked at random cough), leave your profile, then come back to the Ranked tab, it'll show that you're still looking at that other ladder… while showing the stats of the solo queue ladder. Or the other way around. Screenshot X.4) The "next challenger update" timer is completely bugged and doesn't show the right time in most cases. This is rather important if you're master or above, because that timer also indicates when you're losing 100 LP if you're out of banked games. X.5) You can't accept a game if you're looking at your friends requests. You could with the old client. X.6) Just like the legacy client, the new client has issues with the order or groups sometimes going random without you changing anything. Part II – The other issuesA) Clubs Clubs are a mess. They were introduced with good purposes: 1)Have a group chat for you and your friends. 2) Have a place to see the status of all of your friends in that group (who's online, who's offline, who's in game, who's queuing up). 3)Be able to invite these friends. 4) Be able to PM these friends without requiring to have them in your FL (although that was bugged, you could send messages but they were never received). 5) Be able to send friend requests to the people in the group. 6) Be able to quickly look up their profile. 7) Have a message of the day, that wasn't used all that often but was a great place to share puns or quotes. But, here's the state of things today. A.1) You have a group chat, yeah. But it suffers from three things: A.1.a) The space is not optimized at all. With the legacy client, clubs could show up to 20ish messages at once. Now, so much space is lost that if you don't pop out the chat, you can only simultaneously see 4 single-line messages at most. A.1.b) Joining/leaving sounds. If you have the club chat opened hen someone logs in, logs out, closes the club chat or re-enables it, you'll hear the same sound as if someone wrote a message in the club. And that's not convenient. A.1.c) Notifications. Sometimes, club notifications turn your icon yellow in the taskbar. This is supposed to (or at least, should) only be triggered by PMs or invitations. A.2) You can see the status of your friends, but there are two issues with that: A.2.a) You need to open the status bar for that. It's no longer permanently shown like with the old client, and you must choose between seeing that bar and the chat. A.2.b) You only see whether the people are green, blue, red or on mobile. There is no distinction for people who are in queue, in champ select or in game. A.3) You can't invite people from their name box in the club in the new client. A.4) You can't PM people from their name box in the club in the new client. A.5) You can't send friend requests to people from their name box in the club in the new client. A.6) You can't look up someone's profile from their name box in the club in the new client. A.7) The "sentence of the day" can only be seen in Profile > Clubs > Home. Absolutely nobody goes there. It took me entire weeks before I first saw that sentence in a club that I only joined in the new client. And I still have yet to think about checking the sentence of the last club I joined a couple of months ago. It used to be displayed right on top of the chat box. TL;DR: Clubs are a good thing, but Riot has chosen to completely neglect them since they introduced the new client. Without mentioning how the club tag display in game on top of the health bar has been looking since they last changed it – which, in my opinion, is ugly. Same color, non-centered name, it feels like a downgrade from how it used to be. B) Ranked stats Lots and lots of people have addressed repetitive complaints about that. Ranked stats are basically inexistent right now. Here are the issues: B.1) You can't even see your own win rate. It makes no sense to hide it while it's something about your stats… and you can just see it at the end of every game you play! So why was it removed from the profile? B.2) You can only see your win rate for your 5 most played champions. And that's it. Just the win rate. You can no longer see any further stats. Nor can you see previous seasons' stats. B.3) Same thing about other people's profiles. So you're better off looking at sites such as op.gg rather than at the official League client when you want to see your or someone else's ranked stats. C) Minor issues C.1) Gifts. That gift notification was more impressive, felt better and was also much more noticeable than what we have now – a small notification on the top right of your screen that disappears after a few seconds to only become a yellow dot on a bell that your screen isn't always focused on. C.2) Notes in the friends list. Why can't we write them over several lines anymore? Especially with how poorly the transition was made. I used to have five-line notes such as this: Name What did these notes become? NameBirth dateCountryStudies/JobDetails about the game in which we met They didn't replace the line break with anything, not even a space or a slash. But these notes are much easier to read and organize than they previously were, when you could use several lines. C.3) It's not convenient to not be able to move an offline (or mobile) friend or see their group without unchecking the "Offline (or mobile) group" option. So let's say that someone sent you a friend request while you were offline. You accept them as you log in, but they're now the one who's offline. You want to put them in a different group so as to not forget who they are, but that requires you to go all the way up your friends list, to go in the FL's options, to uncheck the "Group offline" button, to find the person a second time, to move them in the correct group, and then to check the "Group offline" button again. C.4) Not being able to see other people's runes sucks. Especially while you can see them at the end of a game. But only in that case. Sure, runes are made to be flexible and changed based on each game, so it's not useful as it formerly was. But it would still come handy at times. C.5) Eventually being able to forge several keys at once or to consume several event items at once in the Loot would make a great addition (to my collection, since that's where champions and skins end up). C.6) In the Shop, allow to filter Chromas by "Champion/Skin owned". Not convenient to have to search manually for things you can purchase in the Essence Emporium. Nostalgia point: Old draft theme (And while I'm at it, Dominion draft theme too). That music was so good. Also was making me so stressed that I can swear I got much better in rankeds the moment it was taken away. I think that was everything I had in mind. I surely forgot a couple of things again due to how I made that list (retroactive thinking instead of adding discoveries iteratively), and unlike the last times, I chose to neglect some minor points (IP display above 100k/999k, few lines of pixels missing – even though I noticed that pointing out how one icon is off by one pixel can give you a bunch of karma aka a bunch of literally the only thing that matters in life). Point being, one year after the removal of the legacy client, its replacement still has a lot of room to grow. It has a lot of things, it's most certainly a better coding basis, it definitely looks fancy, and I'll once again state that I love some aspects of it such as the Howling Abyss music during ARAM champ select… but it's also lacking some of the basic features that the previous one had. | I feel like League's optimization has gone downhill since the new client got released Posted: 26 Apr 2018 07:15 AM PDT And that's a shame, because League was that one game you could play and completely enjoy even if you were running it on a toaster. A lot of streamers have had issues with the new client/the game after the new season started, for instance there was a clip of Doublelift being unable to pick because of client issues, or people like Shiphtur running the game at 80FPS despite his very good specs. I feel like optimization should be looked at closely again because it was one of the things that made League a good game. I'm all for new features and innovative stuff, but that shouldn't change the fact that this game was supposed to be toaster-friendly a season or two ago and isn't anymore. [link] [comments]

| Ranked is in a healthy state right now with solo/duo queue and flex queue Posted: 26 Apr 2018 07:32 AM PDT To pile on to this hot debate with everyone else, I wanted to throw out the opinion I know many of my friends and I have about ranked. Solo/duo queue is where we play our main roles and our selected off role (for me jungle/support) which are both roles I try to play competitively and well. Then there is Flex queue where I break out my solo lane and adc skills. If I feel like I am good enough on a champion / roll, I'm inclined to break it out in solo queue. My friends and I actually call flex "off-roll queue". I have a friend who is a diamond support main in soloq but is a gold mid lane flex player. Just seems like a change for the sake of changing. Tbh, I don't think anyone is the same rank across all 5 positions above a certain level (maybe silver?). They may have 2, maybe 3 rolls that they are great at, but not every roll. | Everything Riot is doing is completely wrong and League of Legends is DYING. Posted: 25 Apr 2018 05:25 PM PDT I have been playing this game for twelve years, and in that time I have maintained a steadying degree of improvement. Now, at Gold III (I skipped Gold IV by the way) I consider myself a master of the game. I know the meta like the back of my hand, and I know what it means to climb through the ranks of League of Legends. Of the, probably at this point, hundreds of players that play this game, my voice is the one Riot should be listening to, because I've been there. I've been in the trenches of ELO hell, fighting tooth and nail as Annie mid (I have a 50.5% winrate on her, and I only play Annie since I started following the infamously successful coach lastshadow9) to get to where I am now. That being said, these changes are outrageous and completely wrong. I've outlined the changes that I believe are correct below, and as long as I'm credited in the next patch notes, Riot can feel free to use my expert knowledge to improve their dying video game.

The server is not Ionia as far as i know, so Im not sure how big of a deal it is (because Ionia is being considered by far as the best server and all the others are inferior), but its still rank 1, so I guess "not bad". You can check it out here. http://www.laoyuegou.com/x/zh-cn/lol/lol/player.html?globalId=9131000069382.html Its really interesting that he needed 1500lp points to get there. I have never seen any server where people would need so much LP for rank 1. Also there is vod on his official youtube channel with a game, that earned rank 1 for him. [link] [comments]

EDIT: Coincidentally, I just witnessed another ivern bug. When trying to take the raptors, Ivern sometimes only takes the small ones, and you have to re-apply his passive for the big one. Nice spaghetti. [link] [comments]
