Hearthstone - And now, back to your regularly scheduled card reveal season.

And now, back to your regularly scheduled card reveal season.

April Fool's!

We hope you all had an enjoyable Noblegarden holiday in our retirement home. Unfortunately, it was discovered that the janitorial staff had all been replaced by chain gang labor. Nozdormu has timed us out, so now that it's April 2nd we will resume normal operations and go back to discussing wizard poker.

We acknowledge that not everyone likes our April Fool's jokes, thinks we are funny, or enjoys how Reddit turns completely unusable every first of April. Please enjoy complimentary upvotes on every comment in this thread as compensation. For the other half of the community that out does us, out spams us and out jerks us every year, we salute you.

This was my fourth prank year here at /r/hearthstone, so let's look back:

  • 2015: Twitch Chat Copypasta
  • 2016: Yugioh, Whispers of the Egyptian Gods
  • 2017: Spongebob Piratepants, Patches Under the Sea
  • 2018: Hearthstone Retirement Community

Wow, there's nothing coherent or cohesive about any of those. Well here's something to look forward to: starting tomorrow Blizzard is kicking off Week 2 of reveal season with 5 scheduled card reveals. We are stoked to talk about new Witchwood stuff with you guys, so join us over in the Hearthstone Discord to catch it all right as it happens.

Thanks for being part of our awesome community!

EDIT: Well, this just really happened. You did it, reddit.

Sleep with the Fishes is rotating. Can we appreciate the meta-joke art of James Ryman? The Murloc Raider has 1 Health so can't be killed by this card and that's reflected on the card art as a suprised murloc, because he can breath underwater and can't be killed when thrown in a river/ocean.

We should be glad that Witchwood cards are not overly powerful.

Posted: 02 Apr 2018 07:58 AM PDT

I've seen a lot of people on this subreddit bitch about how the new Witchwood cards are not really that powerful and I think they don't really get whats going on here. Witchwood is the first set of the year of the Raven and that means its going to stay in Standard for 2 years. This means Witchwood will dictate the next 5 expansion metagames to come if any synergy is printed. Keeping in mind that Blizzard develops expansions like an year in advance, I wouldn't be surprise if the new mechanics are going to recieve huge amounts of support in the upcoming expansions. Making cards of the first expansion of a standard cycle too powerful is a recipe for stale metagames. Remeber the crazy stuff printed in MSoG and how it warped the metagame for like a year ? Well, printing insane cards now would do that for 2 years. The best way to design a new set heading into a Standard rotation would be to create open ended interesting mechanics which can be leveraged by printing synergies in future sets. I think Team 5 is taking this direction with The Witchwood cards. We should be grateful that they were prudent enough to go down this road instead of creating some flashy op cards to fend off competition from MtG:Arena and Artifact.

[Prediction]This Charity druid is definitely gonna be the new cancer on ladder

Posted: 02 Apr 2018 04:10 AM PDT

After the card Duskfallen Aviana was revealed, I was thrilled by how great a job team 5 is doing. It's such an inspiring card and good support for multiple archetypes already in druid/priest, that I think is definitely going to be one of the most genius card ever printed.

As I started theory crafting and finding new archetypes with the cards already revealed, my mind showed me de way to this new Druid archetype: Charity Druid. This is the decklist that I'm currently using, click to find it on hearthpwn.

I gotta say, as I was adding cards to this deck, I felt that this is one of the greatest decks ever made in hearthstone. The powerlevel is just out of this world. For those of you that doesn't understand, this deck tries it's best to help out your opponent by summoning minions for them/healing them/drawing cards/giving your opponent mana crystals/reducing their card's cost to 0. There is just so many ways to help them it's ridiculous. And our win condition is either your opponent concedes out of feeling so touched by your genuine actions, or concedes due to feel like being humiliated, either way you win. You literally can't lose with this deck. Is that even possible? I mean I definitely thought it won't happen again after they nerfed druid in TFT, but here it is. See it for yourselves. This deck is genius.

A couple of things that might need explaining:

Use Healing Touch on your opponent, never cast it on yourself. This spell can be very touching. This is the rule number 1. Bear it in mind.

Use Naturalize on your own minions. As a charity druid, we wanna help our opponent win in anyway possible, right?

Use this legendary combo [Duskfallen Aviana] + [Millhouse Manastorm] to free up your opponent's mana restrictions as they can have both minions/herocards/weapon AND spells reduced to zero cost. This is something that was never possible before dustwood but with the new technology we could make this miracle happen at last! No more thinking about what cards to play since it's all free!!

Anyway since we haven't seen all the cards in the expansion yet, it's too early to say this is the final form of this deck. The way I see it, this is obviously an archetype team 5 is pushing, and if there's one thing we know it's that team 5 never stops trying to shove whatever they want to happen down our throat and we always love it anyways! Look forward to more cards supporting in future reveals!!!!
