Fallout - Does anybody enjoy Fallout because of the raw humanity portrayed contrasted to the pre-War society and of modern society today?

Does anybody enjoy Fallout because of the raw humanity portrayed contrasted to the pre-War society and of modern society today?

This may just be me, but part of the thing I love about Fallout and the whole concept of a post apocalyptic world is that people and brought back down to the very basic level of survival. There's no over saturation of role models, commercialization of products and trends but simplistic human nature which is to survive the best way the current situation allows. People aren't slaves to social media likes and popularity but are focused on the truly important aspects of life (having enough food, a safe community, etc.) idk it's just that aspect to the Fallout universe that's always fascinated me, maybe it's highlighted because of how the pre-War society is portrayed as that stereotypical 1950's happy go lucky feel without a care in the world.

New Fallout font - Sole Survivor

Posted: 02 Apr 2018 09:54 AM PDT

Any interest out there? I know of the Overseer font, but the lightning in the 'o' character always bothered me.

Thoughts?

In New Vegas, would you have the General thrown or not?

Posted: 02 Apr 2018 08:32 AM PDT

In the end, would you have General Oliver thrown off the damn? Or have him leave (with enough speech) and sulk in defeat? And why?

How are the classic Fallout's?

Posted: 02 Apr 2018 08:16 AM PDT

Hey guys, I haven't played fallout 1 and 2 yet, and I know they're classics so I imagine them to be really good. But I have a dillema: I want to play them to experience these masterpieces, BUT I don't want the scenario where I don't enjoy them and my image of them being really good is destroyed. What do you guys think of Fallout 1 and 2? Edit: just want to clarify: I've already bought them a few months ago, I just haven't had time to play yet

Would a Fallout TV series work?

Posted: 01 Apr 2018 11:15 PM PDT

It doesn't have to take place in already explored areas like Vegas/Boston or use already established characters from previous games. It wouldn't have to be a big story that involves serveral factions going to war. It could be something as simple as a mercenary wandering the Detroit wastes looking for work and getting hired by the mayor of a small town to take out a raider leader and his gang which have been a problem for the town. Or the experiences of a caravan worker and her life on the Alabama road. Could be a mini series on Netflix. What do you guys think? Would you be willing to watch it? To give you guys an idea of what I'm talking about, the format would be similar to the Nuka Break series on YouTube but with a higher budget, more experienced actors and better writing.

Fallout 4's difficulty

Posted: 02 Apr 2018 12:53 PM PDT

First off, I know I'm basically digging up a dead horse just to beat it some more since Fallout 4's flaws are a fucking meme at this point.
I honestly disagree with most of the complaints regarding 4; this is one of the few problems I do have with it- the difficulty.
I've been doing several new playthroughs on Survival over the past year and I noticed that the more time I spend on a character, the less fun he is to play.
I remember my Lexington fights much more fondly than random skirmishes I had with my lvl 130 character, because I actually had to use every ressource available to me to win. At level 10-30 the game is challenging, but not too hard.
The build you're working on actually matters.
My current lvl 28 RR infiltrator works perfectly fine as an infiltrator, but has weaknesses, like his fragility, giving him a specific role to excel in. But once I level him uo to lvl 50, he'll be OP no matter what I do. I can just play him as a berserker and I'd still win without a challenge in mist cases.
I think the game would be much more fun if it encouraged playing a specialised build and kept the difficulty it has during the first 30 levels.

Anyone else think Fallout 3 is the best in the series?

Posted: 02 Apr 2018 07:03 AM PDT

All the uber fans seem to think New Vegas but I always found that Fallout 3 was the one I consistently came back to! Thoughts?

FNV keeps crashing after 20mins(ish), any ideas?

Posted: 02 Apr 2018 07:22 AM PDT

Hey. So I recently bought Fallout New Vegas as I was a fan of Fallout 4 so I wanted to try the other entries in the series.

However, the game keeps crashing after around 20 minutes or so of playtime, making it essentially unplayable. I have tried multiple things to try and remedy this but none have seemed to work. I have installed NVAC which made no noticeable difference.

I very few mods installed; NVAC, Better Game Performance V5, NVSR, YUP, NVSE, NMCs Texture Pack (medium). I installed all (excluding NVSR and NVSE) via NMM.

It seems to crash at completely random points. I have noticed that it seems to stutter first and then crash.

My computer specs are: i5-4570 Gigabyte 1050ti Windows 10 Version 10.0.16299

Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

Windowed Mode Centering

Posted: 02 Apr 2018 01:04 PM PDT

I was scouring forums looking for a way to center fallout new Vegas In windowed mode as I experience less crashes (modded game) and I saw a suggestion that led me to an alternative working solution. Suggestion was to go to task manager and right click the program and select move. That string of actions is not possible on windows 10 so I clicked on the drop down arrow/menu thing in TM and right clicked the other option in TM and clicked maximize that centers the windowed game and makes the taskbar disappear. I hope this isn't a repost and helps some others looking to center their windowed game.

Is Caesar's Legion built to last?

Posted: 02 Apr 2018 05:56 AM PDT

I watched ShoddyCast's video about why the Legion is a good thing for the wasteland.

Caesar talks about how his Legion could and would survive. But several characters like Mr. House, Marcus, and Ulysses talk about how the Legion won't last. But the video doesn't talk about that.

I wanted to ask everyone what your opinion on the subject is.

Personally I don't think the Legion would last. Once Caesar dies then the Legion will slowly start to crumble, and if the Legate becomes the next caesar of the Legion then I think that would only speed things up.

If the protagonists of all the Fallout games have Defined personalities what would they be?

Posted: 02 Apr 2018 10:46 AM PDT

Fallout 1 - never played Fallout 2 - never played

The lone wander- a genuinely nice person that just tries to help out where they can because they no know no one else will as they try to make the capital wasteland better one step at a time and has seen enough crazy shit to not really be surprised by much anymore. They are also a expert with rifles and technology thanks to her scientist dad. Although they might have a little problem with having a kind of black and white view on the world, but it's the thought that counts. Considering in fallout 4 it is implied that the good ending from 3 is what happened i would say that's a fair assumption. Also I can't help but feel like a lot of missions seemed to lead to a lot of coincidences and I'm starting to they have a lot luck both good and bad.

The Lone wander is Caring Lucky Prodigy to me.

The courier - a cunning and resourceful survivalist. Had a simple life as a courier but everything went to shit fast forced them to think more strategically and manipulative hardly ever revealing there true intentions to anyone except close friends and more then anything else HATES being used or played. I think they are fine with helping out along there is anything useful in the end, but if you even think playing a betrayal, your dead before yo even know it. They will take what they need if necessary and willing to get what they desired by any means necessary.

The Courier is a Cunning Charismatic Strategist to me.

The sole survivor - A broken person who tries to survive and find a reason to live a move on after the horrible death of there family. Has seen enough horrible shit and perspective be truly understanding how far the world they knew was gone. Even 200 years in the future they can't get away from the war as they witness that all four sides are equally shit for one reason or another. Most of the time they are just sarcastic trying to make situations a little less painful, the only times they aren't miserable is when they are with there companions... and occasionally being a total nerd and playing super hero as the silver shroud. Because of their military past they are good with just about almost any weapon they can get there hands on, but they aren't much of people person as they have no shits left to give. Now they taken there frustrations and issues on any raider that is stupid enough to get in there way.

The Sole Survivor is a Broken Sarcastic War Machine to me.

What do we know about Arizona in Fallout Lore?

Posted: 01 Apr 2018 11:55 PM PDT

I only ask because as I was looking around the terminals in the Institute I noticed a couple that were redacted by Director Override AZ-77 and AZ -99. Both are actual state routes and wondered if the redacted could be related to existing lore?

Is there any word on Obsidian making a spin-off game like New Vegas in Fallout 4's engine?

Posted: 02 Apr 2018 09:51 AM PDT

I want this more than anything. New Vegas is still the best Fallout game of all time to me and possibly the best RPG of all time. The quests, the characters, the sheer amount of choice the game gives you, the replayability... Is Obsidian going to make another Fallout game or not? I would literally donate a kidney to get it.
