CS:GO - Introducing /r/GlobalOffensive Faceit Hubs!

Introducing /r/GlobalOffensive Faceit Hubs!

Posted: 17 Nov 2017 05:58 AM PST

Hey GlobalOffenders!

Today we are excited to introduce /r/GlobalOffensive's Faceit Hubs! Faceit hubs are a great way for the community to just hang out and play the game we all enjoy in a competitive setting. Some of you may have already joined in on our 1v1 Hub which has been on Faceit for a few weeks now and has gained almost 10k members. Alongside this hub, today we will be introducing 9 more 5v5 hubs!

Our hubs are split between different divisions for skill groups, this means everyone can play to their strengths and work their way through the divisions as you rank up. We will be actively running tournaments via the Reddit CSGO Organisation on Faceit as well as setting up monthly hub seasons, so be sure to follow us there to keep track of our tournaments. Our 5v5 hubs also allow you to progress your Faceit rank by earning ELO for each win. Furthermore, as Faceit works to implement prize pools and other features into hubs, you'll have the ability to earn Faceit points there in the future as well.

Hub Settings

All the hubs listed share the same setup with an exception to 1v1. The following settings for 5v5 hubs are:

  • Queue join type: SoloQ only
  • Queue algorithm: First Come First Serve
  • Faceit Anti-Cheat required
  • Maps: Active duty + de_dust2
  • EU Server Locations: UK, Sweden, France, Netherlands and Germany
  • NA West Location: Denver. NA East Location: Chicago
  • Captain team pick: enabled

All servers are 128tick as is with all servers on Faceit. Our 1v1 hub shares this setup with the exception to maps (aim maps include: aim_map, aim_map2_go, aim_redline and aim_faceit_clean) and the server location. All hubs are free to join, our Faceit tournaments will also be free to join. Hubs are only locked for 2 reasons, your account does not meet the level requirement or the hub is not open to your specific region. All of our hubs have a 10k member limit, however if these limits are reached we are able to get them increased, which should be done before its hit.

We recommend using the Faceit Client or using Faceit via the Beta URL.

Hub List

Below is a list split by region of all the /r/GlobalOffensive hubs. We currently run 4 hubs for Europe and 6 for North America.

You may be wondering why NA is split between West and East, this is because we've split it between 2 server locations in order for users to get a better connection (ping) when playing. Our West hubs server location is in Denver, and our East in Chicago. The plan is to take feedback from hub members on these server locations with the possibility to work with Faceit to setup new locations in NA to improve connectivity.

EU Region

Hub Title Hub Link Hub Requirement(s)
CSGO Reddit EU Hub 1v1 Beta URL Ranks 1-10
CSGO Reddit EU Hub 5v5 Division 1 Beta URL Ranks 9-10
CSGO Reddit EU Hub 5v5 Division 2 Beta URL Ranks 5-8
CSGO Reddit EU Hub 5v5 Division 3 Beta URL Ranks 1-4

NA Region

Hub Title Hub Link Hub Requirement(s)
CSGO Reddit NA WEST Hub 5v5 Division 1 Beta URL Ranks 9-10
CSGO Reddit NA WEST Hub 5v5 Division 2 Beta URL Ranks 5-8
CSGO Reddit NA WEST Hub 5v5 Division 3 Beta URL Ranks 1-4
CSGO Reddit NA EAST Hub 5v5 Division 1 Beta URL Ranks 9-10
CSGO Reddit NA EAST Hub 5v5 Division 2 Beta URL Ranks 5-8
CSGO Reddit NA EAST Hub 5v5 Division 3 Beta URL Ranks 1-4

F.A.Q

Q: Do these hubs affect my Faceit ELO?

  • A: Yes, games played in our 5v5 hubs will effect your ELO, so you get the benefit of progression and the ability to earn Faceit points! The only exception to this is our 1v1 hub which will not effect player ELO.

Q: Can I play with my friend in 5v5 even though we don't meet the requirements to join the same hub?

  • A: Unfortunately not, we've split the ranks into divisions in order for users to be matched with other people around their rank. This helps mitigate issues where Level 10's queue with Level 1's and can negatively impact Faceit matches.

Q: Do I win anything for being at the top of a hub leaderboard?

  • A: We certainly plan to add prize pools to our hubs in the near future as Faceit implements this feature. A new leaderboard season starts on December 1st for all of our hubs, we hope to have a prize pool setup for those seasons. This will most likely be in the form of Faceit Points.

Q: Can I play with my friend on the other side of NA, even if we aren't in the same region?

  • A: Yes! Both NA regions have the same requirements to join, they are split in order to help you get a better connection. However if you live in the West and want to play with your friend in the East, you can still join and queue in the East or West Divisions.

Q: How do I leave or mute a Hub so I don't get notifications?

  • A: This can be done using the tab next to the hub title on the overview page. Note: This menu is subject to change as Faceit works on improving the UI navigation on the client and beta.

Q: Are there plans for Oceania or other popular regions to get hubs?

  • A: We can't speak for other Organisations but we are looking into Reddit hubs for other regions, our initial plans would be to start off with 1v1 servers to gauge the player base once they become more stable to run. When hub creation becomes open, other members of the Faceit community will have the ability to start communities in other popular regions also.

Known Issues

Faceit is working with us and other hub owners to fix any major problems with the client and hubs in general, but as this is still being actively developed/in beta, it is likely you are going to come across issues. Below we have listed some of the well known bugs currently that are being worked on.

  • Users occasionally aren't able to join a 1v1 server due to a "corrupt packet" error.
  • On rare occasions, match rooms will halt at "ongoing" or "on hold" indefinitely, making re-joining queue impossible. To fix this, raise an issue in the match room for an admin to cancel your match.
  • Match state may cancel unexpectedly, resulting in no score being given.
  • Hubs with multiple permitted countries outside of your region may display an incorrect flag.

Thanks!

Lastly, we'd like to thank /u/Faceit_Mikey, /u/nvm1986 and the rest of the Faceit team for including our community in the beta and having an open and very active line of communication for feedback, fixes and improvements. We will continue to talk with them to improve this amazing new setup and feature set for the community to enjoy. And of course, a thanks to the members who have already joined in and helped us buff out the rough edges over the last few weeks.

We look forward to seeing you there, work your way up the divisions, improve your game, glhf!

PSA for anyone going to IEM Oakland

Posted: 17 Nov 2017 11:09 AM PST

Please be careful. They don't call Oakland the robbery capital of America for nothing, and an event like IEM is a goldmine for people with a hankering for phone stealing. I went to IEM last year and got cornered and mugged in the tunnel to Coliseum station because I was a small person walking alone with my phone out. Don't make my mistake. Stay together with your group if you have one or ask another group of event goers if you can walk with them to the arena if you're alone. It probably won't save you if someone with a gun wants your stuff, but at least you won't get your phone taken by an unarmed homeless guy like I did.

Don't let me scare you off though. It was an awesome event and I don't regret going!

Hey everyone, I'm alone for IEM Oakland and LFG

Posted: 17 Nov 2017 01:04 AM PST

Hello,

Some of you guys might remember me from a couple years ago with a goodbye post. I was diagnosed with a heart condition and stopped playing for a while, and got great advice and goodbyes from a bunch of people on the subreddit.

I was true to my word and left for quite a while, and I have been very successful in getting my health on track so thank you for the well wishes.

I've started playing again in the last few months, but strictly for fun with friends and it had definitely reignited my passion for the game!

This Sunday I'll be attending IEM Oakland as my first stadium event and I'm very excited, however I just moved to the East Bay area and I don't really know anyone, let alone anybody going to the event. I was wondering if I could tag along with anybody or meet with others in a similar situation.

Some information about me, I'm 21 and I'll be driving down from the Sacramento area. I'm a big fan of all the teams, but I'd love to bump into the cloud9 guys and/or the SK dudes. I wanted to go Saturday too, but ultimately decided to just take Sunday off of work. Also I like animals and I do voice over, so that's fun.

Thanks for reading!

Edit: Holy crap, I woke up to so many nice people. Thanks everyone :)
