I really wish that the T-51 was still the best power armor Posted: 21 Mar 2018 08:19 AM PDT Now I really like the new X-01 and T-60 power armor. But when I look at the galaxy news radio TV from the Fallout intro. The T-51 looks so majestic and cool. Does anyone else think this? [link] [comments] |

Synth Slavery vs Synth Genocide: An criticism of the Railroad Posted: 21 Mar 2018 06:17 AM PDT This is something I realized about the Institute and the Railroad. The former manufactures Synths to be their workforce, soldiers and otherwise serve their needs. The former seeks to liberate Synths and destroy the Institute. Now enslaving fully sapient beings is not cool, but before people go all gung-ho on destroying the Institute to liberate them one must consider the long term impacts of doing so. From all we see of it and what is implied Synths are incapable of breeding on their own. There is no reason for the Institute to make them able to do so and of all the factions in the Commonwealth (and possibly the entire world) only they have the resources and expertise to make new Synths. Something which took years for the Institute to achieve. If the Institute is destroyed, it inevitably means that Synthkind is doomed to extinction. Even if we assume that Synths are biologically immortal eventually attrition would widdle away their numbers. But of all the factions which could plan for the Institute's Fall, none would be more hypocritical in doing so than the Railroad. They desire to free individual Synths, but by ultimately toppling the Institute they seek their inevitable destruction. Given the historic allusion to the Underground Railroad which smuggled black slaves out of the South to escape slavery, conspiring to destroy the Institute would be like the rescued slaves being Neutered afterwards. Would you agree with this statement? [link] [comments] |

What happened to other countries? Posted: 21 Mar 2018 02:06 AM PDT Is it ever mentioned what happened to other countries after the bombs dropped, such as U.K and Australia [link] [comments] |
What if the karma system also kept track of chaotic/neutral/lawful alignments? Posted: 20 Mar 2018 11:25 PM PDT So instead of just good/evil/neutral, you could end up with titles like "Reckless Vigilante" or "Lawful Sociopath" or "Goody Two-Shoes" or "Opportunistic Wanderer". And your reputation could proceed you, like characters will know you as either a shit-starter, an opportunist, or a law-abiding character, in addition to how good vs evil you are. Using drugs and alcohol would be chaotic, doing missions for guards/leaders/soldiers of well-established factions with power like the NCR or The Brotherhood or The Legion (good or bad) would be lawful, doing missions for smaller factions trying to sabotage the bigger ones (or individuals with plans to upset the current powers) would be chaotic, improving things for people (like using medicine to assist in medical offices, using science to improve a water system, etc) would be lawful, lying would be chaotic, etc. You could even have followers care about the chaotic/neutral alignment (Boone would appreciate Lawful people, but not care too much about karma imo) and have it affect what quests you can get (a lawful person wouldn't be offered a spot in a heist, but a chaotic person wouldn't be offered a bounty hunter job where there are rules about what they can and can't do to get them). I know the karma system isn't anywhere close to universally liked, but I did enjoy it in 3 (despite it making the choices too binary, I appreciated the fact that it did have such a profound effect on the game and the story, playing the game evil was much different than playing it good). I think if they make it a bit more dynamic they could successfully implement it into another game without making all of the choices binary. [link] [comments] |
Why Fallout games will most likely not take place in other countries. Posted: 21 Mar 2018 07:13 AM PDT As much as I would love to see a post-war London or Paris I do not think we will be seeing anything out side the US border (which in the fallout universe includes Canada, so I don't count it as a different country). The reason being the game is very heavily based in America. That is not to say that other countries were not nuked, we know they were from several in-game dialogues. The style of the games is based around America in every way from the patriotic posters to the enclave and Brotherhood to the art style like architecture and. And there is also the fact that the Resource wars and of course the Great War would have been a direct conflict between the US and the Chinese. therefore I would find it highly unlikely that we would find ourselves in a place other than America. Posted: 21 Mar 2018 10:06 AM PDT What should I expect from the game, things I must do and the order I should do the DLCs. I have played New Vegas and 4. [link] [comments] |
Am I the only one who likes New Vegas orange tint? Posted: 21 Mar 2018 02:04 PM PDT I recently started a new play trough of New Vegas and installed a few more graphical mods, and one of the removed the orange tint. When I then walked outside into Goodsprings the entire world just seemed grey and dull, especially the buildings and ground. Does anyone else feel like this about this? [link] [comments] |

Let us talk about Fallout 1 bugged(and now unoficially fixed) endings[Spoilers] Posted: 21 Mar 2018 02:42 PM PDT As most of fallout 1 fans know the good endings about the hub and the followers of apocalypse were bugged in Fallout 1. . The FIXT unofficial mod fixes them and all god endings can now be triggered. I was just wondering if you had details about the circumstances that made those endings bugged. I have been told that followers of apocalypse bug was due to a NPC called Heather not being implemented, this character was related to the quest where you found a spy. It also seems there were a lot of generic npcs that were cut. As far as the Hub is concerned, i am not sure. What content was removed from the Hub in fallout 1? [link] [comments] |
Does Fallout 3 and New Vegas hold up well? Posted: 21 Mar 2018 10:39 AM PDT My first experience with Fallout was 4, I loved it, despite its many flaws. I specially loved the Fallout universe and the lore. I've heard that New Vegas was amazing, and in some ways, better than 4. My question is, does it hold up and is it still worth playing today? I'm tempted to dust off the old PS3 and give them a shot, are they both good? is FO3 too old? Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Replaying New Vegas. What's your favorite mission? Posted: 21 Mar 2018 12:04 PM PDT Haven't played New Vegas in a long time. Thought I'd dust it off and run through it a few times. Tell me your favorite mission. That game has so many layers I want to make sure I hit them all. [link] [comments] |
What's your favorite quote from the Fallout series? Posted: 21 Mar 2018 12:38 PM PDT Mine is probably from NV's Ralph. "A polite society is an armed society." Even though I don't particularly agree myself, it's still pretty cool a statement. What are your favorite quotes? [link] [comments] |
How I Ultimately Failed my First Play Though of Fo3 Posted: 21 Mar 2018 01:46 AM PDT So, let's get this outta the way first: I suck ass as Fo3. Fo4 was my first Fallout game, so those are the game mechanics I got used to. Okay now onto my idiocy: Obvious spoilers ahead So I began the game as normal. Made it to and thoroughly explored Megaton. Talk to the guy who pointed me in the direction (yea I haven't played in a while don't judge me). However, instead of making my way like I was supposed to to Galaxy News Radio (or something) I went the complete opposite way. Keep in mind this is still my first play through and I have no idea what I'm doing. I looked into the sky and saw the giant fucking white thing (the monument) and decided to follow it to see what it was. That's when I skipped an entire section of the story by accident. I discovered and explored Rivet City and talked to Dr Li and did the Project Purity stuff. I had then made it to the "end" of the game when either you or Sarah have to die in the radiation to save the project. This is also where I fucked up. I had downloaded broken steel so the game could continue beyond that point. This got me really confused since I wasn't completely sure what had just happened. Then Liberty Prime got destroyed and I stopped playing. Yea I think I just skipped entire sections of the main story by accident. I'm a fucking idiot. The only reason I realized I did this was because I started a second character to try the game again (after learning some stuff about 3 and finding this subreddit). I know this is going one of two ways: People are supporting and funny Or Fo3 fans berate me with hate for not playing the game properly. Only time will tell, I guess. [link] [comments] |
If you had to live in one of Fallout's post-war communities, which would you prefer? Posted: 20 Mar 2018 11:34 PM PDT Most the post-war communities have some variety of apocalyptic problem holding them back from a peaceful good time, but if you HAD to live in one, which would you prefer? Rules to answer by if you'd like:
I'm planning on making my own long list ranking the major settlements of the series by quality of life. But I thought it would be fun to see what people thought. [link] [comments] |
FO4 combat rifle/shotgun a post war design? Posted: 21 Mar 2018 09:33 AM PDT So I was playing with these guns and their design got me thinking. I believe they're of post war design. If you look at them they're crudely made. The welds are primitive, the magazines are primitive, the stocks are held on by large straight head screws, the forward handguard is a big blocky piece of 2x4 with a few serrations for gripping, the suppressor is a crudely made tube, the Picatinny rail is welded on. Compare this with guns like the 10mm, AER9, even the assault rifle. All have clean lines, no crude welding points, well designed magazines and accessories, including suppressors. I truly believe the Combat Rifle/Shotgun are not pre war designs, but post war creations. [link] [comments] |
Fallout 3 keeps freezing during the baby section of the tutorial. Why is this? Posted: 21 Mar 2018 04:26 PM PDT I've played this game plenty of times on my PC and it worked mostly fine. But recently, every time I load a save in that room where you have to walk to Dad, my game freezes. The baby music is still playing and I can't leave without turning my computer off. Should I start a new game or what? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Mar 2018 10:12 AM PDT I'm only level 26 Haven't built the relay, so I'm no where near getting to the point of going to mass fusion. If anyone has any input, I'd appreciate it. [link] [comments] |
