Are devs taking back the changes of the color scheme from 0.62?

Posted: 28 Feb 2018 07:14 AM PST

In 0.62 we had a truly amazing change to the color pallete of the game, making SA look a lot more post apocalyptic with less saturation, more watered down colors that helped create the decaying atmosphere that was present with the old A2 engine.

In the last SR I've noticed that they are changing the brightness/saturation levels and that the results are exactly the opposite from what 0.62 achieved, and that it looks that in 0.63 we gonna have a cheerful world, full of light, colors and joy/s.

At the same time I'm worried that the new lighting settings will make it harder to hide/camouflage from other players, since everything is so visible, and that nights are getting more light too :/.

I really can't understand where is the graphic team going with all their back and forth changes to the visual appeal of the game.

I love DayZ.

Posted: 28 Feb 2018 04:03 AM PST

So I played a few hours of the Arma II mod back in the days. Only had 25 hours since alpha release, but I finally found a great server with great people to play with.

This game can be so much fun, it's unbelievable. I just hope it won't be too late at the full release for the game to succeed again.

But until then I'll have a great time.

suggestion for sliding down a ladder

Posted: 28 Feb 2018 03:51 AM PST

hi,

i think a sliding down of ladders, should only be possible while wearing gloves. otherwise the character should get a handdamage, or maybe fall of the ladder (because of burning the hands).

this solution could give wearing gloves a little bit more relevance.

what do you guys think?

Going back to what someone posted recently, there should be t shirts for alpha purchasers

Posted: 27 Feb 2018 09:34 AM PST

edit: spawn with t shirt*

I think a cool one for alpha purchasers like "In Beta I Trusted" as I suggested in the thread.

There should also be one for people who buy in beta like what someone else posted "I survived DayZ pre-release and all I got was this stupid t-shirt".

The thread had some great ideas for words to put on the shirts. Lets come up with the best.

Thread

e2: another great idea, t shirts for milestones. 100/200/500/1000 hours /u/cannuckgamer

Concerns about .63

Posted: 28 Feb 2018 04:05 AM PST

I've had these concerns for a while but I just wanted to ask about it in case someone could alleviate them.

Way back when we had that Gamescom Demo for 3.0 .63 I noticed that they're adding in a stamina bar. While that in and of itself isn't such a bad thing, I did quickly realize that sprinting is just about the only thing in this game that makes the arduous task of meeting up with friends less tedious. Yes, finding a vehicle helps, but that's wholly based on chance. Sprinting is about the only sure fire way to expedite that process, and even now, it doesn't expedite it by what most would consider an acceptable amount

So how, or will, they balance that aspect of the game. Will we finally get access to more common vehicle types like bicycles and the like? Could they potentially just add a party system that allows players in a party to spawn closer together? Or are we going to have to moderately jog up and down the coast of Chernarus? I really hope they haven't just overlooked this aspect of the player experience because their testing doesn't involve trying to find other members of the dev team.

Implications of new damage system

Posted: 27 Feb 2018 05:43 PM PST

We will be able to break all of peoples arms and legs without worrying that they'll die. What are the other sadistic use cases?

Need help with this car! tell me what i am doing wrong?

Posted: 28 Feb 2018 04:53 AM PST

Going back to the conversation on Melee combat, it should be similar to that of Chivalry - Medieval warfare

Posted: 28 Feb 2018 03:44 AM PST

Going back to what someone posted a while back, the map needs less towns and more "interesting locations"

Where has this "Dev team shrank" and "BI let the team go" line come from?

Posted: 27 Feb 2018 04:58 PM PST

I keep seeing people post this, or similar comments in places like the official Facebook or other subs.

I know people have left, but they've always been replaced. Usually by someone moving up the ladder... Like in every other organisation.

Have I missed something? Didn't BI hire a load of new people in the first year?

DayZ Memory - March 2014

Posted: 27 Feb 2018 03:41 PM PST

Here is something I made a while back that I want to share with you gents.

https://imgur.com/gallery/XnrPr

My first few attempts to play were insanely disorienting. I wouldn't know where I was and it didn't help that there was no keybind for a map I could just pop up. Ended up having a web browser open to learn all the roads, tree, and hill in the coast. This picture is my adventure of learning how the map looks in land. I would try to track where I would be every single day, by day, I mean the 4-8 hour sessions I would play before I disconnected. Here is my small adveture I did, roughly I think I would stay in the big cities for a whole game session meeting nakeds or fighting geared assholes. I believe ended up dying at the airport because some kid glitched inside the walls killed me.

Most fun I had in a long time. 9/10 I would have recommended my friends to get it then.

6 hours long comeback to dayz

Posted: 27 Feb 2018 02:19 PM PST

I just started playing dayz after looong brake, first my friend finds a offroad 4x4. At this point i was fcking excited. We go and found everything it needed to run. Engine says nothing not working googled about that and found out that cars can just be ruined so they dont work. I was like ok lets keep going and we head to NWA like no worries. We are at grishino we hear one shot we see guy running away from us we open fire like a fking bandits we didnt see did if we killed him we hear more shots we cant see anybody we are hiding in building and we both die in a under 30 seconds to a guy who we didnt even see. Are there cheaters or what was the deal? Not gonna go back to dayz in a while lost my interest for good time here.

Press F to use the ladder

Posted: 27 Feb 2018 02:24 PM PST

Regarding this status report's ladder mechanics

Devs should ditch pressing button action in favor like it is in most of games (gta 5 for example).

Ive neen killed by zombies lots of times in the mod because instead to climb a ladder to save my life I had to pixel hunt the right spot in order to activate the action.

I see they improved this a bit, but wouldn't it be much better just to walk to a ladder and start climbing it without unnecessary button mashing.
