[META] What would you like to see for daily threads?

Posted: 27 Feb 2018 09:33 AM PST

Hey everyone,

I've done some experiments over the past months with different types of dailies. Some are more open-ended like the music discussions and personal gaming stories discussions, mostly to break things up from the usual throwback threads where we talk about an older game/series. The general responses to each topic varies, so I'd like to get your opinions and thoughts directly.

  • Do you prefer limiting the dailies to discussions of a single game or series, such as older games and first impressions of recent releases?

  • If not, do you like the more open-ended questions? What about them appeals to you?

  • I experimented with some discussions on favorite protagonists and music in video games. Would you like to see more of these topics, like discussing a single genre of games on one day?

  • Do you have any suggestions for topics that you'd personally like to see?

I'll keep an eye out for responses and try to answer any questions you might have. Thanks all!

Devs set up GDC roundtable conference to counter "censorship" of loot box regulations

Posted: 27 Feb 2018 11:28 AM PST

Global gains against game censorship are suddenly at risk from a combination of actions against our industry. With the World Health Organization classifying "gaming disorder" a mental health condition and burgeoning legislation around the world against Loot Boxes, a handful of government officials again wield outsized power over our creative and business decisions...What are developers to do? Join us for a discussion on how we can protect our rights.

Game developers and allies will get updates on the latest assaults on their self-expression and business rights, learn about potential implications of recent government changes, find out what has worked in the past, and learn how to protect themselves and support their peers.

The intended audience is all game developers and allies who want to protect themselves, their work, and their peers from video game censorship.
