Ah, now I get it: Realising Heroes Posted: 27 Feb 2018 05:18 AM PST Each hero in dota has been designed with a certain level of synergy in their toolkit. Disruptor for example can use Thunder Strike to provide vision so he can Glimpse back an enemy into his Kinetic Field within which he can cast Static Storm. Quite straightforward to figure out how the hero should be played. However, what I find much more useful, is those little things that finally make you realise the hidden potential of a hero. Some examples of what I mean:
These are just some examples I have discovered to really elevate my impact on these heroes. I feel like these "tricks" can be found for every hero - even something simple like Juggernaut's ability to TP out of almost any situation or Tidehunter's to clear ancient stacks. What "eye openers" do you have for your heroes? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2018 10:46 AM PST I know it's incredibly meme but can you nearly insta kill heroes with a aghs, kaya, veil, eblade combo with huskar's life break? [link] [comments] |
When is the right time to buy Faerie Fire? Posted: 27 Feb 2018 04:10 PM PST To start of I'm a Legend [3] player that plays around 85% of my games as core. Ever since faerie fire was introduced I haven't really bought them outside of blinding following a guides starting items. Having watched most of the ESL Katowice I noticed players occasionally buying them over other starting items. In what situations is it worth spending starting gold on a faerie fire. If I needed health in lane I could buy tangos/salves albeit more expensive but more cost effective for healing. If I needed more attack damage for last hits/trading there's other options like quelling blade, branches and more gold towards stat items like aquila or wand. What are your guys thoughts on when to buy them? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2018 06:52 AM PST What heroes depend a lot on your ability to calculate combos or thresholds for your spells? I know a lot of playing carry us knowing how far you can push your hero. But the skill ceiling for each hero multiple components, Ie, some heroes are really hard to position correctly (drow), while others are hard mechanically (Tinker, invoker), etc. Is there a hero that has a very high mathematical skill cap? Basically, I'm asking which hero benefits a lot from laying out a spreadsheet and calculating a bunch of scenarios. I love spreadsheets. [link] [comments] |
Should there be tiers of Aghs in price + stats depending on power? Posted: 27 Feb 2018 02:10 PM PST I'm collecting opinions on this one before a possible main-sub post. Instead of buffing every Aghs to an even power-level... Additional things to keep in mind: 5k gold on eg. Puck is not as good as 5k gold on a carry. An item slot on one hero can be worth more less than a slot on another, and there are different levels of farm rate too. It will be at most a 2 tier Aghs. system, with a cheaper on with weaker stats for those heroes who do not have particular useful Aghs. upgrades. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 27 Feb 2018 02:04 PM PST Offlane is the hardest lane for me. I always die and get bullied by their supports. If i avoid and keep distance from their supports i tend to get very low farm and xp. I seriously don't know what to do. I could use some advice and tips. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
What exactly is this pangolier "Gyroshell Ricochet" that can be dispelled? Posted: 26 Feb 2018 09:05 PM PST I was perusing the dota 2 wiki and saw that Rolling Thunder has a buff which can be dispelled (wall bumping stop buff). What exactly is this buff which can be dispelled? And what happens if you dispel it? [link] [comments] |

Can omniknight be played as support ? Posted: 27 Feb 2018 05:30 AM PST Is he good as 4 or even 5 ? in wich situation is it good and why ? I think his good starting stats make him a decent pos 4 also the passive with an orb of venom can be punishing imho [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2018 10:38 AM PST I prefer to play pos 3-4-5 and you usually 1st pick (pos 1/2 is heaveily contested and boring) and i play heroes who don`t need a lot of money to have huge teamfight impact (silencer/dark willow/offlane void/slardar with blink/rasta/wd/etc). This is the list of my hero pool: https://www.opendota.com/players/104069828/rankings (dunno why have such score as treant, i did not spam him). And i am pretty much always win the lane i am at (or at least can hold t1 tower for longest as solo offlaner). But other lanes sometimes loose horribly, because they don`t want to buy themselves wards (mid and safe laner are horrible in this: death cost always > ward cost, so if wards can make your farm safe, i buy it on any position)/dont watch minimap (with 3 heroes walking on top of ward in their direction) and generally risk too much (being on other end of the river with pos 4 sky mage for example and pudge in other team with no vision there). So lack good positioning and map awareness. And so on, stuff which you learn hard way by playing poor and very squishy supports. So the question itself: what to do, if i don't want to play core(1/2) positions myself ? (I find playing "creep farming similator" very boring). I do enjoy playing core invo (cause mashing buttons seems like you do a lot, "more active spell/item abilities = more fun for me) and I am pretty decent, but my hands hurt after 3 games on invo, so I stopped playing him. Cause even, if you won early laning phase hard, but your pos 1/2/3 gone to farm enemy jungle with no vision and feed horribly 1-2 times, game sort of changes from offense to defense. Maybe correct way is to change to pos 3 completely and start counter-drafting for big team fight heroes like magnus/void/tide/enigma and learn to play only them at top 1% rank for that hero ? Rank: ancient1, I think my mmr floats around 3.6-4.2k. [link] [comments] |
Good ways to practice team fighting with a particular hero? Posted: 26 Feb 2018 05:59 PM PST Are there any custom games or other resources that help me practice team fighting with a particular hero? I especially need practice with mids and carries, since those are the heroes I play least. I need to practice when to jump, whom to jump on, how far to commit, etc. Thanks to playing a fair bit, I've now developed the ability to position myself away from danger as a support to get my spells off, or position myself and wait for the right moment to initiate as an offlaner. But I die a lot as squishy cores like SF, Lina, QOP because I commit too much or jump too early without my team backing me up. Edit: Grammar and stuff. [link] [comments] |
How to deal with a tough lane as Meepo? Posted: 26 Feb 2018 07:34 PM PST I have like 400 games as Meepo and I usually do really well all game, but since like 7.08ish I just always get killed a shit ton in lane especially by gankers. [link] [comments] |
