New Vegas really doesn't make sense does it? Posted: 27 Feb 2018 09:20 AM PST So I was replaying Fallout New Vegas recently, and I realized how little the game actually makes sense. To try to summarize it down into the larger problems -The Khans are working with the Legion only because they somehow don't know that the Legion doesn't allow women to fight, doesn't accept drugs, regularly crucifies people, and breaks up and enslaves the tribes to comes into contact with, despite the fact that this is all common and public knowledge that literally everyone else in the wasteland knows. You can't even use the excuse that the Khans are trapped in Red Rock because we know they have contacts in the Fiends, NCR, and the Khans who attacked you managed to walk across across the Mojave with Benny. -The Omertas want to take over the Strip because they find that House's lack of presence makes him a bad leader... but their plan involves using a chlorine gas attack to kill everyone who isn't them, killing most of the Strip in the process, ruining its viability as a tourist destination, and basically turning it into a walled fort that isn't even that good of a Fort because its admitted that both the NCR and Legion could easily take the city if they didn't have the other faction to worry about. To make this whole situation worse, Caesar later reveals he was secretly funding he Omerta's plan, despite the fact this goes against his stated objective of wanting to make Vegas into the capital of his new empire. -The Powder Gangers also make little sense. They will point blank admit that they know the NCR is likely planning to come after them, yet despite this, they let random people near their base, into their base, walk around their base, come and go from their base at whim, and even let them walk up to their leader, and take quests from them, without even having proving yourself trustworthy first. To make matters worse, the quests they do send you on don't have them sending anyone to watch you to make sure you complete them in their favor, which just lets the player easily betray them. All of which could have been avoided had they just told the player to shove off right from the get go, and done these things themselves. -Mortimer in the White Gloves is trying to get his group to turn back into cannibalism, but his whole plan makes no sense. First off, kidnapping people from the casino only ruins the high class reputation it uses to survive. Secondly, killing the inspector who had been sent to investigate a previous disappearance, and attempting to kill the player, in the casino, only further makes the place look suspicious. Thirdly, the idea that if he can trick everyone into eating human meat that no one will turn him in because they all committed a crime is also bonkers because that isn't how crime works, at most, the people against it would just banish him, and then tell House what happened so they wouldn't get punished for Mortimer's actions. Also, the guy they previously tried to kidnap escaped... but didn't tell anyone what happened to him because... reasons? He also, instead of just leaving the Mojave, went and hid in an old shack north of Vegas because.... reasons? And we are expected to believe that his servants kidnapped the Gunderson kid because they didn't know who he was... despite the fact that Gunderson is a major Brahmin baron of the NCR, and any important guests like that, and their families, are always brown nosed six ways to Sunday by the staff so they get a good review or w/e, so the idea that they didn't know who they were kidnapping its something of a stretch. -Now lets talk about House. House went into a coma because his computer system's weren't optimal due to the lack of the platinum chip, fine. But, House woke up from his coma over 130 years before New Vegas began, he woke up several before Shady Sands was founded, and then proceed to spend the next 130+ years doing literally nothing to try to rebuild Vegas into the city he wanted it be because... reasons. When he did finally do something once the NCR showed up, he kicked out everyone who wouldn't play cosplay for him, despite the fact that, while Vegas's draw is the casinos, the city itself is kept aloft through a large workforce of normal Joes... all of whom he just made hate him. This not only crippled the city's operational power, but also meant he now had to deal with not only the NCR, but also most of Vegas itself, hating him and wanting him dead. Then, when it comes to operating Vegas, House, despite supposedly being a master businessman, decided that the best way to run it was to just demand money from the Casino owners, while totally ignoring them otherwise, a business move anyone could tell you doesn't make sense, and only leads to people betraying you, just like all of his three families did in one way or another, which undermined what little power base he had. Then, when it comes to delivering the platinum chip, he used one of his easily trackable robots to place the order with the Nash's , which just lead anyone who was looking for the Chip, aka Benny, to find who was carrying it, and take it. Literally House did so much wrong that he put himself in a position that the ONLY way he could win is by having the player character survive getting shot in the head. Quite literally, New Vega's only happens because House does everything to self sabotage his own plans for reasons. -The NCR's actions boil down to hilarious comic book stupid. They have a whole fleet or vertibirds on the Long 15, yet never use them to attack and destroy the Fort, despite the fact the Legion has no anti-air defenses. They are also so comically poorly managed to an unbelievable degree they literally can't spare two guys to kill some giant ants on the roads, or even send one guy close enough to Nipton to use some binoculars to see that the Legion destroyed the town. Most everything else wrong with the NCR in-game boils down to the above, that they were written as being a poorly managed democracy, but wound up in Loony Tunes level comedy. -The Legion itself has numerous issues, mainly, they are written as these overly successful Machiavellian super genius that have been able to secretly manipulate basically everyone in the wasteland in a giant plan that would even make Lux Luthor blush. The Omertas, the Khans, the Van Graffs, the White Gloves, getting spies into the NCR before the NCR even knew the Legion existed, being able to stalemate the NCR's army, which is equipped with pre-war weaponry and armor, while wearing football gear and using machetes. All achieved by an elderly balding man, who read a few history books, and then was able to systematically conquer 86+ tribal groups, totally destroy all remnants of their tribal identities, and purge an area the size of the NCR of all raiders, and other hostile elements... in just 30 years time. Ohh yeah, and according to Sawyer he does this without having the Legion establish any sort of farms, mines, or other infistructure, themselves. Because that's doable. Some more minor tidbits(some of there taken from the comments below)

Bethesda should release fallout 1 and 2 for tablets and mobiles Posted: 26 Feb 2018 11:33 PM PST All they would need to do is change the ui and the game would be perfect for the platform as it's only a top down game [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2018 10:57 AM PST So I was playing New Vegas, started a new game and was having a good time. Ran into to an instance where I realized just how "real" the world felt through subtlety. The instance, Veronica being a lesbian: Met Veronica and instantly liked her character. So naturally I thought about Romanticising with her. So while asking about her backstory, I had the option to ask about her love experience. So she talks about how her lover left her and suddenly I notice that she reffered to her lover as "she" and not "he" as I was expecting. Then I realized that 1) she was a lesbian and 2) the game didn't dwell on it or tried to make it as in-your-face as possible. It was so smooth and natural that I felt like she was an actual, human being. Not some artificial character who's only special trait is thier sexuality. Her sexuality is presented as a PART of her character. Not the whole of it. Which is something I really appreciated and made the game more immersive for me. [link] [comments] |

What is something you always seem to do in Fallout games? Posted: 27 Feb 2018 05:19 AM PST
I always sided with the Brotherhood. The only other faction I did was the Minuteman, and I didn't blow up their airship even. I also do this "Exploit", where you build a bunch of wire fences and fence posts to gain EXP to level up before Concord. Makes the fight a lot easier, and technically not cheating.
I always take Boone and ED-E. I also always take the Recon Baret. I haven't played as much New Vegas so I'm still doing sniper characters so I can experience the story without worrying about a new playstyle.
I haven't actually played 3 yet, but I think companions can die on there, so I would probably go back hours on a save just to keep them alive. I will always end up picking up junk that isn't even valuable or worth it, like coffee mugs and empty nuka cola bottles. I tell myself I'll sell them later but I never do. At least in 4 they made junk kinda valuable, which I thought was great. [link] [comments] |

FO3 Chinese Assault Rifle farming Posted: 27 Feb 2018 03:21 PM PST For the longest time I always wondered how anyone could actually even locate twenty of these stupid guns just to give to Pronto in Paradise Falls but I finally figured out a method without trying to. Start off at Mama Dolce's, kill everyone there and give all sixteen of those guns to your companion. Next head to Mason District where all those Super Mutants are hold up out in the open with that tied up human captive. After killing them there's a truck nearby with three rifles in the back with numerous ammunition boxes. From here you should have nineteen. The last one you can get any way possible. I found out though that if you have really high enough good/bad karma that Talon/Regulators will attack via when you come out of the Falls/Mason metro and almost always one of them will have a Chinese Assault Rifle on them so that's how I got all twenty in the course of thirty minutes just from exploring. How do Fallout characters still have foreign accents? Posted: 27 Feb 2018 12:02 PM PST Examples include Cait with an Irish accent and Vadim Bobrov with a Russian accent(Diamond City). It's been well over two-hundred years, and they've assimilated with other Boston-accent speaking people of the Commonwealth. My assumption is that it's just something cool to have in the game, but in terms of lore or making sense, I don't see any validity to this part of their character. EDIT: In response to the "It's just a game" comments, I'm well aware. I've just seen a lot of posts on here getting bent out of shape over lore related subjects of the game like Billy being stuck in a fridge for 200 years, and figured I'd share this thought since I hadn't seen it yet. Merging Fallout 3 and New Vegas for Tale of Two Wastelands Posted: 27 Feb 2018 09:18 AM PST So Tale of Two Wastelands look very cool, and I wanted to start continue my save file on it. I have both New Vegas and Fallout 3 with mods, how would I go about "merging" them so I can continue my save file on Tale of Two Wastelands, with both the games mods. [link] [comments] |
In FO3, can Dogmeat die when you send him to fetch things? Posted: 27 Feb 2018 09:42 AM PST I'm currently replaying Fallout 3 completely solo, because I didn't want to deal with having to reload saves every time a companion died (this is how my first playthrough went and it made the whole experience kinda miserable). I still wanted to recruit Dogmeat though, for reasons, and was thinking of just constantly sending him away to find ammo and stimpacks and whatnot so he wouldn't be in my way and screw up my stealth. Can he die when you send him on these little errands? I only remember sending him away once last time I played, and he was gone for so long that I thought I'd lost him for good, but he eventually found me again and brought me some loot. If he can die, I'll just send him to wait at Vault 101, but I figured I'd at least try to get some use out of him first. So to reiterate, can something happen to him while he's away fetching things, or will he always come back? [link] [comments] |
New Fallout 2 player. Unarmed/Diplomatic build for Fallout 2? Posted: 27 Feb 2018 03:25 PM PST I've always tried to get into Fallout 2, but I always seem to get burned out by Klamath. Trying to get into the game one more time, and I think maybe it'll go better if I at least have an effective build instead of going in blind. I sort of want to try to make a character who avoids most human fights with dialogue checks or sneak, while dealing with creatures and unavoidable encounters with unarmed. Can anyone recommend a build? And are there any tips for a Fallout 2 newcomer to get the most out of the game? [link] [comments] |
What is your favourite Fallout faction and why? Posted: 27 Feb 2018 10:06 AM PST It can be a faction from any Fallout game. I'm just curious to hear people's reasons. EDIT: I would have to go for the boomers because I just love how they have cannons and planes. In my opinion, they're the coolest faction. [link] [comments] |
I seem to have misplaced Nick Valentine Posted: 27 Feb 2018 02:48 PM PST I had him as a companion. The last time he was with me was in Goodneighbor for the memory den quest. Since leaving, I noticed that he disappeared. I looked in Goodneighbor, at the memory den, and his office in Diamond City, and at my settlements. I can't find that fucker anywhere. Is this some kind of a bug? How do I fix it? Or am I just a moron? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2018 10:30 AM PST Is there a good tutorial out there on making ammo? I don't understand the mechanics of breaking things down and how any junk collected comes in to play. My repair and survival skill is sky high but all I can do is convert EC to MC and back. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2018 11:59 AM PST NOTE TO READER -----> LOOK! This is not finished yet and I request that you hold back judgement. I understand vault 75 is north of Boston and is home to one of the worst tests in vault tec. This story is (War... War never changes) [spoilers]. Remember it's sci fi so you can add/do anything you want with it. PLEASE ENJOY AND COMMENT YOUR IDEAS AND CRITICISM! Mr. Sheffield was a rich man who used all his left over money to free slaves. He would buy them and set them off. Dylan had been through four slave auctions and every time, he had been missed. The caravan would take off at nightfall to avoid contact with other groups of people. At around 11:00 PM they took off for Diamond City. Dylan stumbled along the road. Griffin, one of the gunner overseers held him with an animal control pole. He tugged at the ring. Griffin yelled at him. "Servant!" Dylan stopped tugging and turned to the slaving bastard. "If you don't stop right now. I'll let Melissa kiss you." He spun a revolver around in his hands. "Want that?" Dylan had learned to take Griffin seriously but not too seriously. The other gunner's would get him for killing one of their money makers. He shook his head. Gunners loved two things in the desolate world. Caps, caps, caps, and a few million more caps. The second thing they loved was guns. Big and small guns, long and short guns, automatic and semi guns. Any loss of slaves or potential sales were bad for the gunners. Captain Wozniak stopped the group. He was the leader of all caravans from their base in Quincy. "We got company!" He yelled. Dylan was shocked when he looked ahead of the group. There was a group of twenty or so people all dressed in blue and yellow jumpsuits. Each of them wore leather gear around the suits. Most of them wore helmets with a visor that covered their faces. All of them held guns. He heard Wozniak yell again. "PUT DOWN YOUR FUCKING WEAPONS!" Dylan cringed. He muttered under his breath. "So persuasive." He heard another voice answer. Less ground up and gruff. "How about you put your weapons down. Maybe before this?" Dylan peered around Griffin once more. Wozniak commented again. "We have more people. Two suits of T-60 mean nothing. We'll gladly take them." That less than threatening voice responded. "So be it. Thomas. Johnny. Initiate G7-02." Griffin yelled something indistinguishable. After the voice spoke everything was overtaken by gunfire. Dylan tried staying by Griff but was throttled by the animal control pole stuck to his neck. He gained the courage to grab it and slip out of it. Griffin responded by aiming his revolver at him. He tried speaking again but was quickly silenced when minigun fire ripped through him. Dylan tripped over the body of a fallen gunner. He decided it would be safer to play dead. The battle waged on around him. Bodies dropped. Gunfire talked back and forth with one another. Many an arm went rigid. Gun's fell. Magazines clicked as they were loaded. Dylan waited. His mind seared with panic. It all stopped in an instant. As soon as it began, it ended. He opened up his medkit. "It appears that you've been shot m'boy. You didn't try picking on Gordon did you?" Dylan shook his head. "Who?" He pointed to a very muscular man walking by them. Dylan shifted so that he was laying down on his back. He looked to his right. Gordon had an assault rifle strapped to his back with a drum magazine. He shuddered. "Hell no." Dylan looked at Claire. "Who are you people?" Claire nodded. "Fair question seeing how we're taking you with us. We're from Vault 75." Dylan laughed. "So i'm going to some underground bunker?" Teej looked confused. "What's so funny?" Dylan kept laughing. "I'm actually allowed to go in?" Teej was vexed by the situation. "What's so funny about it?" Dylan tried keeping a straight face. "Nobody's ever allowed in those vaults." Claire looked over at Teej nervously. "You can come inside." She looked at the glee on his face. "Really?" Teej showed him a syringe. "You will wake up in the vault medbay. This is just a sedative so you don't stretch your gunshot wound. Nighty night." Dylan felt the needle pierce his arm. "Nighty night-" He pressed it in hope's that it'd call someone. A beep sounded next to his ears. He tried covering his ears but once again felt the weight of his restrictive captors. "Help!" He yelled. A man about his age with some stubble on his face hurried to him. "Oops," he said as he clicked the button shutting off the sirens. "I'm Dominic. I'll be here with you-" Dylan cut him off. "Why am I cuffed? Where's Teej. Where's Claire?" Dominic shook his head. "Teej just works on the field. He isn't that great of an actual doctor, so we let him leave. As soon as he's back in the vault from his next trip, i'll show you to his quarters if you like. Also sorry. I forgot about Claire; she is in food production. Basicly a lunch lady. You will see her at dinner. She was out on that mission because she hoped the GOAT would choose her to be a vault guard and she still wanted a field mission. Anyway your restrained, because we don't want you moving around a lot. That's why I haven't lifted the cover yet. We had to empty your lung of blood before you drowned. Teej didn't do that great of a job patching you up as he said. We had to cut open your lung to let the blood out." He turned around and clicked a button. "Just remember. No running until I say so." That comment hit him like a frying pan to the back of his skull. "First. I can't speak feral ghoul. Second." He paused still processing it. "I nearly died?" He whispered fearfully. Dominic nodded solemnly. "Teej didn't have that good of a score on the GOAT test. We needed a field medic either way though so he was all we had. He told us that the bullet had lodged itself into the artery that it had punctured, but the guy didn't check behind the bullet when he brought you here. The bullet had the blood building up pressure, and the artery that popped leaked into your lung." He sighed. "He's a good man don't get me wrong, just he isn't the greatest medic. He makes up for foolishness with kindness. To be fair he did save your life with the sedative." Dylan let the realization hit him. "I'll thank him." Dominic nodded. Dominic undid his restraints and lent his arm to Dylan. He stood up and fell back. "Hey hotshot calm down." Said Dominic. He put his arm around him. "Don't be hard on yourself. You've been out for two days now." "Much longer than I thought." "You're a lucky son of bitch. If you woke up yesterday, you'd be in a lot of pain." Dylan tried standing up again. "Oh thanks." He stretched his arms. Immediately, he felt a pang in his chest. He tugged at his shirt and looked at his chest. Dominic observed his reaction. "How many stitches?" He asked. He shrugged. "Seven. You got hit by a 7.62 round. I think it's crazy you don't have a hole in the middle of you chest the size of blood bug sting. I don't even think you should be alive." Dylan smiled. "I'm a tough bastard." Dominic chuckled. "I'll show you to your quarters." Dylan stepped through the sliding door. Dominic came behind him, still guiding him in case he fell. "You wanna sit?" Dominic asked him. Dylan shook his head. "I think I can walk now." Dominic reluctantly took his hands off him. "Still good?" Dylan nodded. "Thanks." He looked around the room. There was a closet on the far side of the room. To the right of the door was a shelf decked out with pre-war books. In front of him was a nightstand and to it's right a blue and yellow bed. Dominic pat him on the back. "Supper's in an hour. You want me to come and get you?" He questioned. Dylan nodded. "What does the vault serve?" Dominic shrugged. "Canned foods with no expiration dates. Home grown vegetation." Dylan was vexed by the canned goods. "How many canned goods are stored here again?" "Two hundred fifty years worth. You don't wanna know how easy it is to get lost in the storage floor of the vault." Dylan laughed. "Only ever had salisbury steak once. I'm in love with it. Ya got any?" Dominic walked out. Before closing the door he said. "Only 150 years worth." Dylan's face curled into a smile. The mess hall was just like the rest of the vault. Columns that were painted yellow with signs of the once famous vault boy reminding the reader about nutrition. The floors were blue with light red stars. The tables were a warm blue, some of them painted with now fading clouds. Dominic showed Dylan to the cafeteria line. An old lady, probably in her sixties named Meredith served them. She was a sweet woman who just from her look had an aptitude for kindness. She smiled when she saw Dylan. "Welcome to the vault hon." She said. Dylan nodded and replied with a short, "thank you." Dominic noticed. He whispered in his ear. "Don't be nervous. Everyone is very happy to have someone else in the vault. We never get any visitors. You'll fit right in before you know it." Dominic shoveled some mash potatoes onto his tray. "Have you heard about the other slaves yet?" Dylan was shocked. He had never thought of the possibility of other surviving slaves. "Really?" He asked in disbelief. Dominic merely nodded. "Tomorrow." They sat down at their lunch table. Dylan noticed the way everyone looked around at him. "You weren't kidding about them being interested." Dylan stared at his steak. "So this used to belong to cows?" He asked. "Yeah. We only ever learned about it. They were beautiful." Dylan sighed. He cut a slab of meat off his steak and chewed it slowly. "You mentioned a GOAT test earlier. What's that?" Dominic nodded. "Good question. It stands for, Generalized Occupational Aptitude Test." Dylan shrugged. "If only I could translate yao guai." Dominic smiled childishly. "Funny. You take a test and it chooses your job." Dylan frowned. "I never had education. My mother and father were killed by gunners early on in my life." Dominic looked down. "Sorry. If you would like you could tune in with the kids in out vault school." Dylan shook his head. "Don't apologize for what you can't control. Beside's I don't like funny looks." Dominic pursed his lips. "It's not really a test about education. It gives you a situation like-" He paused and thought. He smiled. "A rabid dog stands before you. You know it's going to attack if you don't do something. Do you run away? Do you hold your ground? Do you attack it? Or do you try taming it?" Dylan scratched his chin. "I'd run assuming I didn't have a weapon." He stopped. "Do I?" Dominic shook his head. "Yeah no." Dylan was still perplexed. "How does that choose your job?" Dominic jumped at the question. "Simple. Running implies that you aren't confident in yourself to be in combat. You wouldn't be a vault guard. Fighting is the exact opposite. Holding your ground implies that you would be great for the vault council, always standing by your beliefs. Taming it would make you ideal for a doctor assuming we could train you. You would be good at calming the sick and weary down if they were to panic." Dylan seemed to understand. "That's kinda cool." He looked around the mess hall. "You said Claire would be here?" Dominic looked around. "Ah there she is. Even lunch ladies need to eat." He called to her. Claire was sat by a group of girls who were all chatting. Dylan noticed their PIPBOYS. "Do I get one of those?" He asked. Dominic looked. "Oh. Well you usually get one at age ten, but you will get one when we assign you one." He showed him his. "I'm designing a much more advanced one in my room. I haven't told the vault council yet. I added a special little thing. I've equipped it with a radar! Using this I can see enemies, and can count my stamina. One added bonus is it counts how many bullets I have, and scans objects that I have, so I know what i have in case of an emergency. It works by using a needle that targets my central nervous center." He saw the confusion on Dylan's face. "Oh right. The sensors that make you feel pain and what tells your body to do stuff. Another thing is that it can highlight materials that I need, and can take over my body to make my shots more accurate. I call it VATS, or Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System. Pretty neat huh?I'll show you later." Dylan nodded, still confused. Claire placed her tray down at their table. "You gave us a fright." She said to Dylan. He did jazz hands. "I'm alive!" She grinned. "How is he Dominic?" Dominic nodded. "He could be better, but at least he's still kicking." Dylan held up his table knife to him. "I'm mint condition." Dominic laughed. Dinner went by faster than Dylan expected. Claire took their trays for them and went to go sit with her friends again. Dominic decided he would show him the PIP BOY. "C'mon." Said Dominic. They walked through the vault for a few minutes. Eventually they came to a door labeled: Med-Bay Surgeon Dominic He smiled. "Your gonna think this is so cool." He bade him inside. The rooms format was the same as Dylans. The only difference was an added workbench with a few drawers, a screwdriver, hammer, welding glasses and blowtorch. Next to it was a bin of circuit boards varying in size and shape. The room smelled of grease, Coolant and oil. Dylan waved his hand in front of his nose. He coughed. "The hell is making this smell?" "Sorry I left my reactor on the PIP-BOY. It might be the coolant heating up." He coughed again. "Set it aside then. I wanna see this little contraption of yours." "Have you ever been out in the wasteland and wanted to find something? Well with my few innovational mods I added to the Pip-boy-" Dylan cut him off. "You sound like your trying to sell some idea." "Well!? What do you think I am going to have to say when I tell the overseer that I have been teetering with one of our only computers!?" "Sorry, please continue…" BANG! "AHHH!" In Dominics hand was a circuit board that had exploded when he took it out of the PIP BOY. "Hand me those pliers!" Dylan responded by reaching his hand into a bin of tools and handing it to him. Dominic fidgeted with the PIP BOY before handing the pliers back to him. "It's not entirely stabilized yet." He said. "I'm losing track of the resources i'm using." He sighed and stuck the PIP BOY back into one of the drawers. "Check this out." Dominic went through one of the drawers again. He held a small box coated in leather. He pressed a red button inside the box. Dylan was fascinated to say the least. The room became a war of air pushing back at one another. "Do ya know what this is?" "No… How the hell are you doing that!?" A click was heard. Heat and steam flew away from the air. "Stealth boy infused laser rifle. I always have it with me, just in case. Any way the vault security can't detect it because i've made it entirely out of modified plastic." Dylan blinked. "Plastic?" Dominic rolled his eyes. "Yes you heard me right. You think that's cool?" Dylan nodded. Just as Dominic was about to put the gun down, the vault alarm started ringing. Dylan's face was contorted in pain as he held his hands over his head. "Shit shit shit. It's the gunners! They want me back!" Dominic shrugged. Vault security will take care of it. We have four suits of power armor in storage." Dylan looked up at him from the ground. "You just keep that kind of shit lying around?" Dominic pursed his lips. "Why should we? Everyone in the vault is raised believing in the protection of eachother. Trust me. No one's stealing any power armor." An explosion echoed through the vault, shaking the ground. Dylan and Dominic could see the dust particles fall from the ceiling above them. The air became stale breathing. People shouted outside of the room. Dominic's face lost all color. "What's happening?" An intercom started speaking. A harsh male voice obviously trying to get the message out as fast as possible. The sound of gunfire could be heard in the background. "GUNNERS ARE INVADING THE VAULT! WE ARE ON LEVEL 10 LOCKDOWN! ALL RESIDENTS STAY IN YOUR QUARTERS! DO NOT LEAVE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!" The intercom clicked. Dylan kicked a trash can over. "It's cause of us slaves!" Dominic held his finger over his mouth. "Don't worry. Even if they manage to break through the vault guards, we still have automated robot defenses. There's an emergency sentry bot as well." Dylan shuddered. He had only ever seen a sentry bot once before. It was a prewar one patrolling concord. It still believed that it was patrolling to protect citizens. The gunners destroyed it for scrap metal but six of the twenty two man caravan died to the thing. Dylan shrugged and ran down the hallway. Dominic sighed and followed behind him. They passed by a few bodies; it was comforting to see that most were gunners. Gunfire echoed throughout the vault, not just at the entrance. It appeared that it was a spread out invasion. The intercom blared again. "ALL PERSONNEL MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE MESS HALL!" The intercom clicked off. "C'mon," said Dominic. The duo ran. Halfway through the vault, they came across a guard and a gunner locked in combat. The gunner held a combat knife, her pistol on the floor, probably out of ammo. The vault guard held a baton, his pistol holstered. The gunner dived at the guard but he sidestepped and struck her across the head. One final body collapsed. Dominic shrugged. "I could've done better." Dylan snickered. "Sure…" Dominic led the way to the storage floor. They passed by some last minute stragglers who were quick to run by them. Dominic flung open the door to the eastern staircase. It's sign labeled, 'In emergency, take stairs.' Dylan grunted sarcastically at reading the signs. "Right you are." Dylan gave him a thumbs down and went rampid. A gunner holding a hacksaw ran towards him and jumped on his back. The head of the suit vibrated violently as the gunner tried sawing unsuccessfully into the suit. Dylan tried reaching for his luger but quickly realized that it was still strapped to his belt inside the suit. He groaned, grabbing the gunner by her shirt and flipped her over his front and onto the floor. He held onto her arm and stepped on her chest. She was quick to scream before he brought her ribcage collapsing into her lungs. He picked up her 10mm pistol from her belt, not forgetting to throw the MG-50 flash bang into one of the small groups of gunners trying to resist. Dominic pushed one of the lunch tables aside allowing Dylan to enter the fort. They pushed the table back into place and recovered themselves. Dylan stepped out of his power armor after handing the 10mm pistol to a unarmed man. He grasped the luger from his belt and placed it on a table. He got back in and picked up the small pistol. He checked his magazine. "Seven bullets left, no reserve ammo. Arturo is one of the vendors in Diamond City. He sells drum magazines for this thing." He looked around. "Anyone packin' 9mm rounds?" Dominic shrugged. A vault guard directed him to a crate full of various ammo types. He pumped his fist and took a few bullets to load his magazines. The gunfire ceased to be heard. Dominic looked up confused. He peered over the lunch table he was leaned against. A gunner clutched at his stomach and keeled over. As his hands peeled away from his body his blood flow became more visible. Just like that the fighting stopped. About a month later the vault had mostly recovered. Bullet holes still littered the walls of the vault. Most were dents but the point still remained. The vault door was beyond repair for the time being so there were an extra six guards on duty there. The vaults casualties were surprisingly low. Only seven people died. Three of them were dwellers and the others were guards. Their bodies were piled up in the crematory room. They were burned and their family members said words about them. Dylan and Dominic of course attended the cremation. Dylan of course, knowing nobody was impartial at best. Dominic knew one of the guards as they had been friends during their school age. Robert Gipson, his name. He had a wife and father that wept for him. He offered his condolences to the family who were quick to shoo him away. [link] [comments] |
FO4 - Are there any practical benefits to siding with a particular faction? Posted: 27 Feb 2018 11:07 AM PST The only faction I like is the Minute Men. But I don't like building settlements. Perhaps if I did more than a couple of their quests I would discover I don't care for them either. So I'm wondering if there is any practical reason for picking one of the other factions. The only thing I can think of is that Mama Murphy sitting in her chair makes a good target dummy. :) [link] [comments] |
If YOU were to design a DLC for Fallout 5 what would you do? Posted: 27 Feb 2018 04:08 PM PST |
Posted: 27 Feb 2018 03:50 PM PST So I was just wandering around after my run in with Kellogg and Reveille randomly completed itself. Can I still join the brotherhood? I haven't interacted with any BoS members yet, and I was on my way to meet up with deacon at the highway. Did I lock myself out somehow? [link] [comments] |
Colonel Autumn Companion Mod - Fallout 4 Posted: 27 Feb 2018 11:39 AM PST I would like to suggest a companion mod for Fallout 4, which would bring Augustus Autumn from fallout 3 to fallout 4. He could be introduced as a character in many ways. You may find him and 1 or 2 other enclave soldiers on spectacle island or you might find him by a crashed vertibird somewhere in the northern parts of the map. He would attack BOS on sight, and give you a perk that would give you a ap boost in power armor - this is changeable. The perk could be called Autumn's Guard or something more creative. He would wear something somewhat normal initially - like military fatigues but his side quest would allow you to get a armor called Autumn's coat where at that point you could equip it on him or keep it. He would use a upgraded laser pistol. He could tell you about his escape from DC and from the Jefferson memorial (Lore wise this is debatable). As you gained affinity with him he would tell you about his travels to... well, this is up to you, as the mod maker I want you to make the story, I have something in mind but I am not making it so I want you to have the freedom to make up what happened to him in the last 10 or so years. His quest would probably involve taking you to different installations around the commonwealth that the Enclave were supposed to be at. At the last position you would find the dead body of the regional Enclave commander with a coat like Autumn's in FO3. WOW - sorry guys, that was long but I think it would be really cool. I'm sorry I have to ask for it, but i know modding is time consuming and right now my life is giving very little time, especially to create something like this. I really hope some takes interest in this, thank you! - by the way, his voice can be voice acted by a fan. its a bit of a immersion breaker but I don't see his voice actor "Peter Gil" doing it lol.

I made (What I consider to be) rather satisfying gun displays in NV. Posted: 26 Feb 2018 08:15 PM PST I Only used guns and ammo I managed to hoard throughout my most recent playthrough and set it all up via painfully dragging wonky hitbox weapons with the Z key. Although, I'm quite satisfied with the end result. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2018 02:08 AM PST Public service announcement here. If your PC struggles with frames per second, especially in downtown Boston, try entering the follow lines into your Fallout4prefs.ini file in addition to whatever changes you've made to the shadow distance parameters (fDirShadowDistance and fShadowDistance). What these lines do is enable multithreading (change X to your number of cores) and remove the invisible map borders. Has given a major boost for me. Remember to make the ini file read only afterwards. iNumThreads=X [link] [comments] |
Meeting the MM after siding with BOS? Posted: 27 Feb 2018 08:28 AM PST Hi guys! Wondering if anyone has tried completing the BoS ending without having met the minutemen? I'm hoping to go pure BoS this time, no meeting the RR, no messing about with the institute, just being a good little soldier. I haven't met Preston, and I'm wondering if I complete the BoS ending and THEN meet the folks at concord can I then start the MM quest? Does anyone know if there are any bugs/weirdness associated with this? I'm assuming it is too much to hope that Garvey would recognize my action with BoS? I would love to start building up the wasteland and place BoS flags at all my settlements, sorta makes sense story wise to start rebuilding after the threat has been defeated. Anyone tried this before/have any insight? [link] [comments] |
