No matter how much I play, no matter the character, no matter the completion percentage, this will ALWAYS be the only quest I've ever done once.

Screams "Dovakiin, Dovakiin", hums the rest of the tune

Get the fuck out of my shot!

2nd right button until the 3rd one comes up, do that until the 4th one comes up...and it still somehow took me 10 minutes.

Does anyone else miss experiencing this game for the first time?

Posted: 23 Feb 2018 06:51 PM PST

This game is without a doubt my favourite ever and I've clocked in well over 2000 hours over PC and PS4. I've watched hundreds of lore videos and learned every skill. I've made friends and had some great times all through this game, but sometimes I wish I just never looked through that steam discount sale.

I still play Skyrim today and still love it, but when I see some of the newer players comments on here asking about how smithing works and what quests to do next, I almost feel jealous.

On my first play through I remember being an illusion assassin (my friend recommended this) and I was in awe at the level of detail, I'd never seen anything like it! Sneaking about through the shadows meant I heard so many random conversations, I can't remember ever feeling like I was inside of a game before but there were times I would swear my name was actually Popopapi the fearless khajit ninja.

Due to my build I investigated the rumours of Aventus Arentino trying to contact the dark brotherhood, and promptly joined them. I played the entire quest line in a single night and still remember the strange feeling I had after completing it. I sat there staring at the screen, with a mixture of satisfaction and disbelief at the events that had unfolded around me. I may have only known them for a single night but Nazir, Cicero and Astrid, they all felt like old friends. I remember the next day I logged back on and just sat there looking at my character as the camera panned around, before switching it off. I'm not joking the quest line had that much of an effect on me, I had to take a break to collect my thoughts.

I miss that feeling, because when I play Skyrim now it isn't there anymore. I find myself mouthing along to dialogue, exploring dungeons but already knowing the way, searching for treasure when I know where it is, meeting new people I already know the names of, listening to secrets I've heard before, asking questions when I have the answers. It's a strange feeling of omniscience that is both comforting and depressing. I long for the little moments where I hear something new, love the side quests I've never got round to finishing, but these days are in short supply.

Now don't get me wrong, it's really fun being a god. Being able to punch dragons to death and shout giants off cliffs. They say knowledge is power and I've certainly gathered a lot. I know all about the empire and their great founder Talos. I've delved deep into the earth to uncover the secrets of the dwemer. I've learned of the dragon cult and the dark times of man. I've read through the political history of Tamriel. I've searched through countless towns and cities. I've raided hundreds of bandit camps and cleared every dungeon. I've unlocked every shout and learned every spell. I've forged armour from other dimensions and weapons that shatter realms. I've built houses, married and adopted children. I've been the hero of the civil war and become thane of every hold. I've become the champion of every daedric Prince and the leader of every guild. I've defeated vampire lords and even other Dragonborn. I have become the single most powerful being in the history of Nirn.

But despite the thousands of hours of my life I've poured into this game, I wish I could flick a switch and forget it all, just to experience everything for the first time again.

[Spoilers] Ancano had a secret

Posted: 24 Feb 2018 05:23 AM PST

While doing the College of Winterhold questline, I was stealing stuff from peoples rooms to sell. Come along to Ancano's room open cabinet and out falls the dead body of a courier. He had two notes, one from Ancano to someone else and one from Elewyn (head of Thalmor Embassy in Skyrim). Turns out he did go rogue and was hiding the fact from the Thalmor Embassy. He purely acted out of his own self greed.

This was probably was added from cutting room floor. But man does this flesh out his character a lot more

Anyone else hate the fact that hammers have no special executions?

They all share the axe ones, as far as I know. I wanna beat people with a blunt object, not a sharp blunt object

That magical moment when you approach a new NPC and they give you a quest and you already have what they need in your inventory. Done and done!

[Discussion] Anyone else mad over Helgen?

Posted: 23 Feb 2018 09:44 PM PST

I've recently gotten back into Skyrim on the Xbox. During this play-through (what with having access to graphic mods) I started to just pay more attention to the design of all the towns and cities. After going from town to town and hold to hold, it hit me. 4/9 of the Cities are shitty, they don't have walls and just look like a boring old village.

Shortly after realizing this, I returned to Helgen for whatever reason and was annoyed to realize just how large and nice it was. It has walls made of stone, towers, and overall good layout. This made me so upset that it had to be the first town to be brought to ruins since I probably would have loved to go there. Hell, Helgen was more like a city than Morthal and the like.

Did anyone else get bothered by this? I know it's not a big issue but it's just a slight annoyance.
