PvP advice on r/runescape (and why you should ignore most of it) Posted: 03 Feb 2018 10:34 PM PST Re Edit: If you feast your eyeballs on the comments, you may notice the people I was trying to not name and shame have gone ahead and outted themselves for you, all ~15 of 'em. Skull Tricking Posts Recently there has been a rise in posts talking about safety in PvP and how to either avoid pkers or avoid being skulled. These posts are being made more frequently because a "new" (actually really old since pK shared with us the method last year on reddit) force skull has been found and abused by a few FCs. These FCs have access to reddit just like everyone else, and use it to their advantage whenever a post questioning the wild comes up. Gearing Up in the Wilderness There are numerous comments or posts that either directly ask a question or touch on the question of "what do I wear for X" in regards to wilderness activities. Once again, pkers have access to reddit just like everyone else and use it to their advantage on "educating" people into wilderness safety and what to bring to certain areas. Wilderness Advice Besides gearing up for the wilderness or avoiding skull tricks there are also misc. wilderness tips and tricks "helpful" players share with others, or educate others on, however these "helpful" players happen to be pkers and most of the time their advice is intentionally wrong in a certain area to take advantage of players. Taking Advantage of r/runescape as a Pker disclaimer A post I made in the past that linked comments from users that were doing this caused my post to be removed, for that reason I will not be linking examples of this specifically targetting a user, you can use the search function to search PvP terms such as "Skull Trick" you'll see exactly what I mean. The same ~10-15 people will be commenting on every single post, always giving some really shitty answers. Taking Advantage: Skull Tricking Advice
ie: This post is asking what can skull them in the wilderness. Initially a users comment had 7 upvotes, despite it being incorrect. My FC member commented on it with actual proof, unsurprisingly this comment was both downvoted and was followed by numerous slandering comments about the user and the users FC leader. Despite all the comments being untrue, and made by actual lurers who openly admitted to luring Meru's FC members for a Yellow Phat, SGB and SOS (3 diff people) they made these comments because the average reader will go "oh, this guy has a bunch of upvotes and this dude has a few downvotes and a bunch of negative comments about him, he's probably a lurer trying to trick me"
ie; "Corruption shot/blast dont skull you anymore" but will leave out "they do skull you under certain circumstances, and pretty much all other AoEs also still skull you under similar circumstances" however they will word it like so "i was at chaos ele for my reaper and I used corruption blast while a pker was near me and didn't skull so i don't think it works anymore, thank god cuz i would've lost my nox staff lol" Actual Skull Trick info Currently there is 3 confirmed skull trick methods available, pK claims there to be 6 but I guess either no one has found them or they've been patched since his claim. Admittedly he's a bit of an asshole and stated he wouldn't share anything else with r/runescape after his ban so I doubt all 6 will ever get known, (paraphrashing here) 'jagex can just look thru my pages of bug reports and fix it if they give a shit' But, go thru all current skull trick related posts and note the very same people continously saying that AoEs don't skull you. AOES SKULL YOU https://gfycat.com/BeautifulCourageousCuckoo (proof) Additionally, certain familiars that I won't name can still force skull you if your familiar kills them, previously the spirit wolf worked like this but there are more that do. A certain ability can cause a player to skull if they have auto retaliate on, again not going to name the ability mainly because I don't even know what ability it is :( and, finally (this isn't really abuse) player clickboxes can be enlarged due to glitches, causing people to misclick you. The 3 other ones Idk my dudes, sorry. As for how to prevent them? Preventing Skull Tricks Turn NPC & Player Attack Options to Right Click Don't bring a familiar into the wilderness & leave auto retaliate off. Don't go into multi-way combat, don't fight back against pkers unless you are 100% okay with potentially losing your item to a bug. Don't use any AoEs anywhere, don't mistake players attacking you for them using an attack animation in combo with committed perk. Taking Advantage: Gearing Up
ie: 'Got my Chaos title after 40k rev KC, wore full full tetsu with kopesh mh and offhand gwd 2 blade and 120 cape, just had a shield to easily escape any pkers" or "just 3 item at X so you don't risk anything" or "just bring gear in inventory to fight back if a pker attacks you, hide it in your inventory and use it if they attack you to kill them they won't expect it" truth is, there is an actual efficient gear setup for each task and they aren't mentioned very much. You'll also have pkers pretending to be pvmers who will denounce comments about bringing the Hellfire bow anywhere, stating theyve been pked "literally 10 times in a row" as soon as they grab the HFB. This is complete bullshit my dudes, the wild is dead as fuck barely anyone is gunna kill you with a HFB on. Other pkers bait each other to multi zones using the HFB so actual pkers don't ever go for the HFB since they're usually weary of a team. Actual Info: Gearing Up
Royal D'hide, Desert Amulet (3-4), Sixth age Circuit Ring, Focus Sight and a Royal Crossbow or Hellfire Bow is all you need. Players will continously reference a full slayer helmet but the focus sight will still give you the slayer helm bonus, the full helmet is potential risk for nothing. If you want more damage for w/e reason and again for w/e reason don't want a T99 bow that takes 2-3 mins to find, use a Decimation at most. Ignore posts that tell you to 1 item a T90 weapon, because protect item exists, as if that does shit. Pkers will take advantage of your examine settings being unprivate, see your exact prayer points at current time and be able to do a number of things to smite you out, even if you eat a fury shark they'll stall it to kill you for +1 so don't bring a tier 90.
Ranged is complete ass at Revs due to MDS healing the revs (seriously JaGex what the FUCK please fix) and melee is great but dangerous (ie; Scythe can AoE and half your abilities are AoE so you'll probs skull) so, your best bet is Magic. Magic is really strong and you don't have to risk very much. An augmented Superior Zuriels Staff is my personal recommendation, total cost should be around 8M and it'll last you for probably your entire rev title. Armor would be Skeletal or Lunar, with a desert amulet (3-4) or Salve amulet (e) and a Sixth age Circuit Ring (LOTD DOES NOTHING SO DON'T FUCKING BRING IT PLEASE AHHHHHHHHH) Other weapons would be a Staff of Light (can't attack the higher tier revs) or, a Chaotic Staff. with Overloads all revs except the Dragon should be killable. Royal D'hide with the Hellfire bow is another choice if you're fortunate enough not to have unlocked MDS.
Bring the fuckin succ machine and nothing else, don't bring gear in your inventory to fight back just die and come back, it takes a few seconds to return and you risk nothing. If you're collecting cursed energy for money without the Vaccuum I would really recommend incan's over it, but at most you should bring full royal d'hide (if no div outfit) and a darkbow with mobile on it (if you have invention unlocked), with some food in inventory. A 1 click teleport (ie; wilderness sword) would also be really handy if you don't mind destroying your cursed energy, assuming you bank frequently it might not be a big deal to you. As soon as you see a pker, you should immediately anticipate and surge towards the wall (so south..) pray against whatever they're using and keep running. Don't freedom anything unless it's a 3 second stun as anything else will be a waste and their intention is for you to burn it sooner. Continue to surge and use anticipate and you'll likely get away since most won't chase a competent person, if not and you do die, who gives a shit if you were banking every ~300 energy you should be risking nothing. Don't bring gear with you, they want you to bring gear so that when you whip it out they skull trick you and get your +1-3 items that you thought you were slick concealing, we're not dumb we can see when a naked guy has 85 arraxyte arrows in their ammo slot, we will provoke you into skulling yourself and smite your nox bow, that's life.
don't be slick and hide shit in your inventory, just use a demonic skull and food, at most bring a shield or a mobile switch (better yet, a darkbow with mobile) if a pker comes, you can usually kite them around the course and logout, you can also go up and down the entrance to the agility coures spamming "join" on a friend of yours and eventually you'll be able to, assuming you have the food to spare a pker should never kill you as long as you stay calm.
For your reaper assignments, literally 1 a tier 60-70 weapon or Royal Crossbow, it's 4 kills and should take under 4 minutes even if you use a guthix staff, don't 3 item your boss gear because you won't skull, just 1 item some really shitty weapon and finish the task. For the title, Hellfire bow and Royal D'hide, if not, RCB or Decimation at most alongside the Royal D'hide, using a Sixth age Circuit and a Desert Amulet (3-4) (btw these are reclaimable for free and good stats hence the use of them in this) You should bring a lockpick in your inventory to get inside axe hut, almost no pker has any sense to bring one, and also open the jail doors by going into the spirit realm behind the castle and closing them. If a pker comes you should anticipate + pray against them and run directly towards the web (single) if they are coming from the single area, (lots of them) you may feel better running towards the castle, going up and down the stairs or in and out of the jail doors is enough time to hop on someone else. Taking Advantage: Tips & Tricks
Once again this has to do with only giving partial information instead of the whole truth, they might mention to turn your player attack options to right click only, since they know that familiars count as NPC attack options and as long as you don't turn those to right click you can still left click on peoples familiars, pkers also know that you can glitch familiars to be left-clickable no matter what your settings are, but they won't disclose that information when informing people how to protect themselves against pkers. Here's some tips & tricks that are actually useful, but again take them how you want since I used to play RS and I used to be a pker so w/e Actual Tips & Tricks
TL;DR Pkers use reddit too, and they can and will use it to deceive and spread misinformation, stop and think about what someone is saying on a post and try to get proof of what they're saying before you believe them. [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Feb 2018 05:41 AM PST I've played rs on and off for years now and I haven't put attention much on new things. Today I wanted to level up my woodcutting, and rs guide suggested acadia trees in menaphos. I had no idea what menaphos was so I did the Jack of spades quest. My mind was fucking blown in the cut scene, where they show the city of menaphos. I have never seen anything like it in Runescape. I've only hanged out in taverley dungeon, G.E, falador and burthope. Do you guys have any tips what to do in Menaphos and are there any other big cities (other than Prifddinas) that I should pay a visit? [link] [comments]
Why are shadow & barrows dyes not world broadcasted like 3a, blood and the cape slot items are? Posted: 03 Feb 2018 07:51 PM PST It always seemed odd to me that they don't have a world broadcast considering how rare they are when things like Nex items which is a ~1/20 drop for a 3 minute boss fight is world broadcasted. Maybe this can be changed with the new clue rework if people agree with it? [link] [comments]

Reminder that Runescape Classic is still up, and all you need to play it is Membership! Posted: 04 Feb 2018 01:40 AM PST You can play the the 2001 version of Runescape - Runescape Classic - either by going here and installing the legacy client, or launching it off of Konduit. I tried it out today - after completing Cook's Assistant and failing to find anyone I almost quit, but I managed to find someone else who had just started and it was very fun! Some tips: Pickpocket the men in Lumby or Varrock or wherever for gp. It's amazing gp when you're starting out. Just know that if you fail to pickpocket someone, they'll start to attack you. All you need to do if this happens is walk away - the aggro will reset. Here's a photo of me at the end of the session with my sweet, sweet bronze chainbody. [link] [comments] |
