Sure, doggos are cute, and the event is supporting a great charity...

But how are you gonna pull this off in three years for Year of the Ox?

Where are you finding dragons in 2024?

And probably most importantly, how do you plan on legalizing cockfighting in time for the Year of the Rooster???

A Stranger I met in OW sent me a Gaming Mouse!

Posted: 20 Feb 2018 12:49 PM PST

Here's the story behind this. I splurged quite a bit on a gaming mouse when I first switched to PC. It recently started working worse and worse, making my Overwatch experience shittier and shittier. I shied away from comp, and instead went to quick play where I wouldn't harm those with a competitive mindset. I was playing on Valentine's Day, and while it seemed everyone was in a good mood that game, my mouse had intermittent bursts where it would stop working. I then apologized, but a guy named "Kindness", funnily enough, said he recently got a raise and would send me a mouse. While I was suspicious at first, I gave him my address and waited. Today, it came in, and I was overjoyed, even though it wasn't super expensive or premium. I wanted to share the joy I felt today with you all, and hopefully inspire you all to do your own act of kindness today. And they say Overwatch has a toxic community!

Here's some proof, since it's such a far fetched story.

Kindness, thank you so much. Since you said you like Reinhardt, I'll make sure to mail you a rein figurine once I get the money!

Edit: only blurred out my name since it's really shit, lol

Edit 2:Meant to say PO Box instead of address, lmfao I'm not that crazy

Edit 3: He saw it!

Thanks for sticking up for me, enemy Winston!

Posted: 20 Feb 2018 07:57 AM PST

Though my team lost the match, I just had a really nice thing happen and wanted to share the story! A premade duo started flaming me in match chat saying nothing creative along the lines of "report our ana for doing ****". Immediately, the enemy team's Winston pointed out that I slept him every time he tried to get the jump on us. Following his lead, his teammates along with the rest of my teammates, minus Dumb and Dumber, defended me, pointing out that I was on fire for most of the match and that the team needs to protect their healers.

Dumb and Dumber then proceeded to troll and throw the match. To no surprise, Dumber decided to play Genji and spammed for heals incessantly. As I said, my team lost, but I came away with a smile, thanks to an enemy Winston who was a good person... monkey... scientist? If you're out there, thanks Immortalcow! And thanks everyone who sticks up for healers!

Last Known location of Overwatch heroes

Posted: 20 Feb 2018 12:02 PM PST

Dates are made on the assumtion that Winston's recall was sent out in May of 2076 (60 years from the game's release date in May of 2016). This list was compiled mostly for my own sake to track the heroes, but to also highlight how minimal the lore has been lately and how little information is given about the hero's activities. Enjoy

I have to stop playing Competitive, I think. I just completely unloaded on some kid.

Posted: 20 Feb 2018 12:15 PM PST

I've been two or three games away from gold for the past two weeks, constantly hovering around 1920SR or so, give or take 60 in either direction. I'm sooooo close.

I don't really care about getting to gold. It's just a nice accomplishment to have. Being so close is frustrating, sure, but I lose and I get over it. I just like playing round-based play, and earning comp points because Junkrat's beachrat gun is gonna look fucking sick gold.

Anyway, it's almost all I play lately, and today I had a guy just really, really piss me off.

A good 80% of the way through the first match- Nepal Village- we've been winning pretty much the entire thing, and he starts complaining that we have a Widowmaker.

is Widow the best pick for this map? No, not really. She has a few spots to pick people on the point with significant cover (if they have lots of cover, so does she, really), but whatever. It's not a big deal, and Widow is not costing us the game- we lost because the enemy team grouped up and managed to split us off and take us down. But we played well and it was a close match.

But he begins acting like Widowmaker completely ruined the game for us. We lost because of Widowmaker. We would have won if we didn't have a widowmaker. Widowmaker is useless, the player playing her is bad, etc.

The next match starts, and he switches to Hanzo- stating outright, out loud, into the mic,

We're going to lose anyway, so who cares.

And I unload on this guy. Did you just spend half the match whining about another player and their pick, because you think they weren't contributing, and now you're over here saying you're going to INTENTIONALLY not contribute, because you think we'll lose anyway? That is griefing, that is throwing. You are exhibiting a good 3 things you can be reported for right now.

And he claims "Oh, I'm not allowed to ask people to switch? I had 4 gold medals."

You never asked people to switch! You just whined that their pick was bad! You never once said "Widow, could you switch to ____?" or anything close, just Widow sucks, Widow is ruining the game, Widow is why we're losing. You never did a single callout, never helped another member of the team with voice chat whatsoever, never even tried- all you did was whine "widow widow widow". And 4 gold medals? Who gives a fuck? How does you having 4 gold medals mean a specific other player was a problem and deserves to be treated like that?

I told him nobody wants to hear that, it's not helpful, it's annoying, and it's just plain bitching, and he repeats "I am not allowed to ask someone to switch?" and I repeat it's not asking someone to switch to whine about their pick, it's not asking someone to switch to switch characters and say you're doing so because you are no longer going to try, it's not asking someone to switch to intentionally grief the second round because you think we're going to lose! That's called throwing, and it makes you as asshole and an idiot!

Meanwhile while this is happening, I'm ranting my ass off on the point, playing while doing it, and doing a damn good job, mind you. As I yell at this guy I'm still playing my hardest, and hten I die, and I am spectating him, and he's just bouncing around between an arch, away from the team as Lucio now, and I call him on obviously throwing. He claims he's "waiting for my team, everyone was dead"- more bullshit. We were on the point, I was just there, they're dead now but they weren't while you were dicking around on purpose as Lucio.

And then he leaves the game.

I sort of apologize to everyone who can hear me, say I can't stand people like that, who just pick another player to lay all the blame on for 12 peoples actions affecting the outcome of a game, wondering out loud how someone can be so stupid that they think the appropriate response to "We barely lost the first round" is to completely start throwing. I say "now we'll probably lose for sure with only 5 people, but that's not an excuse to stop trying."

Now as a group of 5 we actually manage to take control of the point, and he joins back in, and is silent. He doesn't talk the entire time we keep control of the point and win the second round. "Oh, look at that, we won, something that definitely wouldn't have happened if someone had thrown the match on purpose."

Someone comments "We won because we got a new guy" and I say no, it's the same guy, the guy who was just trying to throw the match. I guess they didn't realize comp doesn't have backfill.

Third round goes pretty bad, not very well on our side at all, and we lose- whatever. It's a game. Losing's not a big deal. Being ridiculously disrespected by one guy who immediately gives up because he doesn't like someone elses pick is a pretty big deal, though. It's a day-ruiner. It's a game-ruiner. It's a fun-ruiner.

I would so much rather play with a mediocre widowmaker who is trying their best than with some guy who acts like this. And of course at the end of the third round he goes right back to placing all the blame on the Widowmaker even though he was intentionally throwing the second round.

Here's something: If we lost the first round with you, won the second round with you throwing, and lost the third round with you, maybe you're the problem. Asshole.

I reported him and nothing will come of it and that makes me so angry. People who play like this and talk like this and treat others in voice chat like this and intentionally throw games because they are throwing a tantrum because we lost the FIRST ROUND get to continue playing totally unchecked. It's not right. It's not fun.
