Put together this small map for my new Single Player Skyblock Survival world. Took a screenshot and it looked nice so I thought I'd share.

My single player world I used to have on a server. Might say it’s fallen into a bit of disrepair since then. I’ve still enjoyed 700+ hours of survival on it!

Is Minecraft better for kids than Blockheads and Block Craft 3D?

Hello, I'm sorry if this is inappropriate to the subreddit; I read the wiki and didn't find anything about posting these questions, but if I'm wrong please correct me and point me to the right place to all.

I've played Minecraft before but not a lot because I didn't have the money to buy it. My 7 year old nephew loves talking about it and plays a lot on an iPad, but I found that he only plays the free derivative games he downloaded himself because they looked similar. I'd thought these were shitty fake knockoffs and it would be better to just let him buy the real game but after reading reviews it seems they're decent games in their own right. However, he sometimes complains his classmates can do things he can't, build with redstone and whatnot, and apparently his programming club is using the game for some purpose too? I'm wondering about how educational these different games are and if it's worth spending the money if the creative capabilities are the same.

Thanks for reading and sorry again if you're deluged with these kind of questions!

EDIT: I want to make clear that from watching him play for a few hours I didn't realize what he was playing wasn't Minecraft. Granted I've only played a little bit and watched some videos, but the look and the mechanics of those games were pretty much identical. He's already built several castles and a giant hotel lighted with lava, I just think there's not a lot of redstone laying around. I'm also not entirely sure which of the clone games he's playing.
