When, if ever, to get Aghs on Juggernaut? Posted: 26 Feb 2018 12:45 PM PST What it does: Adds 3 slashes to omnislash (putting you up to 17 with lvl25 talent) Reduces cooldown to 70seconds Is this ever something to get as a 4th or 5th item? Say you have 3 or 4 of blink/bf + manta/diff + bfly/skadi/abyss My guess is it might be a consideration against a team with many disables/immunity piercing disables or a team against which you don't want to be right clicking for a long fight (high sustain/durability, low cooldown disables, return damage) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2018 08:13 AM PST I realized the reason these heroes are considered easy is not just their spells, which are mechanically trivial and hard to mess up, but also that they have basically no gameplay options so they're more likely to be in the right place at the right time. What I mean by no options is, they can't farm so they're never tempted to AFK jungle like CM or Chen, and they can't split push so they are never going to solo push a lane line a WW, shaman or Jakiro. If they're not stacking or warding, then they're behind their cores. Are there any other supports that tend to have very constrained decision making, and therefore have pretty low skill ceilings? Advice: When you are "in the trench" Posted: 26 Feb 2018 01:58 AM PST Hi all, I would like to preface this with a note: I am 1k MMR but have seen a marked difference with my win rate after applying some simple things which make a huge difference. I have been stuck in the trench for a while, however up until recently my view of the game changed. Prior i was focusing on last hits, getting my farm up and resulting consistently being top net worth and almost guaranteed to have the most farm, GPM and XPM. Yet i was still loosing, after reading many guides, much of the advise is "farm faster, farm better". However, on my travels into the world of Dota2, i spoke to a fantastic person DekaiT (thoroughly recommend him) and he pointed out some advice which i had never thought of before. Often newbies are told positioning, vision and farm. That DOTA is an objective based game (which it is). So i spent a long time working on my position in fights, my vision of whats going on, my farm and my objectives. Yet i was still loosing. The Mini map is your guide to winning. Next time you play. Do the following: When you are in your lane, which ever lane it may be and you are walking off to ward, TP'ing to the fountain after a rotation you never saw coming. Click on the mini map and physically look at the heroes on the other team. Ask your self this...
Find out as much as possible. This will give you information. When you do this consistently and a lot you can take action. An example is below. You are a safe lane Terrorblade, you have a support SS. They have an assortment of heroes and enough lock down to cause you issues before your BKB. You look top and see there are 3 top. You do not see the Anti Mage and you see there is Witch dr mid (its 1k mmr) Each of the people top do not have a TP, neither does Witch. This information tells you: They have low mobility, thus cannot TP to defend quickly. the AM is off map, but most likely farming items to become online. You then attack the tower and either kill it or there is a TP. This tells you that the hero that you forced to TP to defend is now unable to head top straight away without walking. You could then TP top and force a fight 5v4. Secondly: If you are in lane, or you go to gank ask yourself two things.
These two pieces of information are critical, information is key. It means you can work out if any one on the other team can save a hero you want to gank. Weather its safe to push, weather you need to play safer. If you see a hero go for a Claymore they may go shadowblade, start getting sentires and dust so that " oh fuck they have a shadow blade and i just died" doesn't happen. Out play them purely through information. Because i can guarantee as you climb, they will do the exact same thing to you. This info has already seen a marked win rate increase in both Solo and party. I hope it helps! [link] [comments] |
How would you balance the current pro meta heroes? Posted: 26 Feb 2018 07:01 PM PST With the recent pro meta, how should the following heroes be balanced? -Razor: This one seems hard to balance since none of his kit seems all that OP, in my opinion, but it's the combination that makes him strong. Perhaps 10/15/20/25 less damage in static link? -DK: One of my favorite heroes, makes me sad that he is almost guaranteed to be nerfed. I was thinking that maybe his base armor should be lowered from 4 to 1, to make his laning less strong, and possibly make offlane dk not worth it. Otherwise, maybe scaling breathe fire damage reduction, so that it's 20/25/30/35? -TB: I think the main thing to nerf is his 2 cd reduction talents, for reflection at 20 and sunder at 25. I'm not sure if further nerfs are needed, maybe make meta less strong level 1? -Gyro: My opinion would be to nerf gyros movespeed by 5 or 10, and to shorten flak cannon range. Since he was tied for 2nd most picked at Katowice, I'd like to know what you guys think about this. Another option is to lower the damage on lvl 1 missile, since (if I'm not mistaken), most gyros go lvl 1 missile. Naga: Make net have a lower duration (or alternatively, a longer cd), and reduce riptide damage, at least at lvl 1. If there are any other meta heroes I missed, how would you balance them? Do you agree with my balance ideas? [link] [comments] |
When to go Midas on Lone Druid? Posted: 26 Feb 2018 12:51 PM PST I've been trying to learn Lone Druid for the past days and one thing i couldn't get an answer is when to go midas on him. A lot of players are still buying it, but players like Secret.Ace are tending to skip it for the last month. Was there a change or something to midas that i'm not aware of? [link] [comments] |

help me on my early game decisions Posted: 26 Feb 2018 06:26 PM PST i had this game 3754765865 and if you have time you can watch the replay and see what i could have done ENEMY DRAFT: ursa oracle od rubick juggernaut OUR DRAFT: slardar pudge spec tusk (me) storm i knew from the start that it is not winnable judging by the draft and how the lane will go but i tried anyway. i was the tusk, so basically the enemy has an ursa + oracle against our spectre + tusk + pudge storm vs od mid jugg + rubick vs slardar. i just wanna know how i could have played early game better or if it was even a good idea to stay with my carry and help. just fucking clueless man. sorry for my bad english [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2018 05:43 PM PST I'm trying to play offlaner with my party for now, and I've doing pretty well with brew or omni, but i feel like i lack something, usually i feel like an initiator or just a tank. Basically i'm asking how to play offlaner, and what heroes are useful in this pos right now? [link] [comments] |
Tinker dagon build vs aether/aghs Posted: 26 Feb 2018 09:48 AM PST I'm a legend 3 mostly mid player and i love playing the sort of typical aghs tinker but I've seen some still building the more old school dagon setup with a kaya and such. What situations should i be deciding to go one or the other? I guess if sustained damage from the aghs isn't enough and you just need to blow some people up the dagon is a better option? What to buy on Tusk and Sladar? Posted: 26 Feb 2018 09:01 AM PST I recently picked up these two heros (mostly as a roaming 4) but I am having trouble finding the right items for them. Regarding slardar: I know blink is really good and of course I go for it. But other than that I'm clueless if I should go for a more supportish build or just tank up? And even in the early game I don't know for sure what boots to buy. I usually go for tranquils. Tusk: the only item I would say is somewhat consistently good on him is again a blink dagger. But everything else feels like get whatever you want. The problem is, everything I go for doesn't feel 100% right to me. Any advice? [link] [comments] |
Does gyro want to make mkb straight after bkb+snyu this patch? Posted: 26 Feb 2018 02:27 PM PST Was playing lifestealer today with radiance+solar crest build , enemy gyro got early mkb but it didn't feel very effective (he went pike+bkb+mkb) as our team had clock as well , all mkb help is with true sight and deal that flak cannon dmg very fast but that aoe dmg overall remains the same (9 flak cannon hits over 4 seconds or 2 seconds due to mkb , the dmg is the same) whereas if he doesn't make mkb it allows lifestealer to have pa level of evasion without being able to get bursted from magical damage early on and can easily get the jump on gyro with another initiator So as gyro do you wanna get mkb this patch as it just gives AS and primary hero procs? Edit:After posting this I just went on dotabuff and saw lifestealer counters gyrocopter pretty hard. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2018 01:58 AM PST So, a little context I've been playing Dota for a decently long time now, and Meepo is one of my favourite heroes. I started to learn him somewhat early in my Dota 2 "career", and I had good results with him. (Winrate a bit over 52%) However, nowdays I just can't seem to perform as him as well as before. My winrate has plummeted to around 48%. I play him mid, going treads -> Wraithband 2x -> Blink. After that I go (in no particular order) E-Blade, Tarrasque, Scythe of Wyse, and Skadi. I try not to pick him against heavy AOE disable. The game plan is to farm up to lvl 10 and get blink, so I can start snowballing with kills, and wreck towers in the process. I quess one of my biggest problems with him currently, is how I somehow manage to get blown up in teamfights, even though on paper, I have the highest DPS in the game and usually more health than most carries. Anybody care to share any tips & tricks, and general wisdom when it comes to good ol' Meeps? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2018 07:05 AM PST Just interested in what mods I should master and if there's any tips or suggestions for getting better at the mid lane. I'm currently 3.8k mmr and also wondering if I should learn invokes and tinker? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2018 09:02 AM PST Hi, I calibrated at around 2100 MMR recently, and was wondering if there is much I can get out of practicing with bots. I usually don't like playing without at least one friend, so I never usually solo queue. Just wondering if this spoils real games too much or if it ingrains bad habits. Also, if there is a benefit, are there any good bot scripts to download? Or a bot for 1v1 mid? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
When you get lots of kills as support vs 5 carries but lose anyway Posted: 26 Feb 2018 12:21 PM PST https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3754453975 I was warlock. KDA 10 13 14 Most of the deaths were at the end when PA/PL could just wipe me with ease. At the start I had 5 kills 0 deaths. This happens quite a lot for me when I play warlock. I quite often get quite a few kills but lose. He is a fun character who many underestimate. As a result I get quite a lot of early kills. For example in linked match I had a couple of kills on phantom assassin before I died, she usually slaughters squishy support caster types. She did towards the end though. I know I need to ward better, I forget and don't always sense where to put them well. Also I often find that I die when trying to put out offensive wards. How I can I play better so I win more? I am trying to be more consistent at placing wards. Should I focus on being with my team rather than trying to take a lane? What I quite often do with Warlock is try push a lane without being seen by using fatal bonds and keeping back out of site. Its fairly slow but it does work and when I get close to the tower I want to try take I surprise them with the golumn. I just feel that considering I often get a high kill count with this hero I should win more than I lose but I worry something about my place style is hindering more than helping. My analysis of that particular match is that we should have ended sooner before they carried so hard. Any advice specific to that match or just in general would be appreciated. Also any hero suggestions similar to warlock would be cool, I like his playstyle a lot :) Was just about to post this and realised ghost scepter would have been the obvious choice I should have made. How do YOU personally attempt to improve at dota? Posted: 26 Feb 2018 05:56 AM PST Thought it would be productive to share the ways in which we try and improve whether it's watching replays, practising last hits etc! Might give others some inspiration or see what they're missing! [link] [comments] |
How to deliver items from teammates? Posted: 26 Feb 2018 03:37 AM PST Maybe this is kind of a dumb question, but I wondered what is the best way to deliver items to yourself that a teammate bought? For example a offlaner bought me wards to help out and pings "wards dropped here". What's the most efficient way to get them delivered? As far as I know you have to select courier and manually pick them up and then drag them from the courier inventory into yours. Is there a better way to do it? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2018 06:47 AM PST Guys I suck at mid real bad. I need tips for like the first 10 mins. Right from blocking the creeps to lane harass, last hits and denies. [link] [comments] |
I play mid a lot, but rarely gank....should I? Posted: 26 Feb 2018 10:21 AM PST 1k bracket Mid 85% of the time I rarely gank. I just feel you don't want to give opposing mid free farm....or ability to push tower. Are certain heroes meant to gank and others not? It's a long walk, so sure if o got a haste or something but otherwise seems risky. I don't get flamed often, but my last game as Medusa my team ripped me for not tanking. I have no kill potential as a dusa and it would take a decade to get there Suggestions appreciated [link] [comments] |
Creep blocking in lower MMRS - always ending up under tower Posted: 26 Feb 2018 09:57 AM PST My enemy never blocks mid. So, I am having some issues with how much to creep block at low MMR. I use to block a while then when I saw the enemy creeps, I'd run forward to draw there aggro so they didn't end up under my tower and would just be on my high ground. However, with the recent tower location change, I find this impossible to do, I don't have time to grab aggro before they are in tower range. So I have a few options, 1) Hardcore block the wave, esentially, his creeps will be in tower range before my creeps even cross my tower. This will cause a "light" double wave at level 1 and we just keep pushing back and forth into each other. 2) Guess block, I block for a while then stop, to try and guess how much to block. However, if the enemy happens to have a good block(very rare) I get screwed. I also only play storm so the first wave is very important to me. But I also need as many last hits as I can early because I really like the 2 minute bottle timer. 3) Hardcore block, try and stop the creeps, they will take tower damage, I will then aggro the creeps to ouside the tower range. However, if I try this, I will more than likely take some damage, espcially if the enemy is going to harass me during this time. So what should I do? [link] [comments] |
Help me understand why WD is dominating so many of my games lately (Guardian MMR) Posted: 26 Feb 2018 09:27 AM PST What the title says, out of my last 10 or 15 games, I'd say about half of them have had a WD with some ridiculous KDA number like 20/6/15, sometimes on my team, sometimes on the other. Not smurfs, just fellow crap-tier players who go insane. The hero seems to really fuck shit up if someone knows what they're doing. To summarize what happens, every big engagement mid-game seems to be the non-WD team getting ministunned with Cask bounces and then his ultimate (which seems to be on like a 12-second cooldown even though it's 80) wipes the floor with them because they can't get away. I don't really play the hero and don't like him, so not looking for advice on doing that. I tried him a couple times to see if I could figure out what his deal is, but mainly got stunned and bursted down before I could do any real damage, probably because I didn't know what I was doing and stood in stupid places where the good WDs don't. So that wasn't too helpful. Obviously there are going to be certain things that 1k players do that play right into WD's hands and I would like to avoid them, but I don't quite know what they are. Similarly, there are probably a couple things that ruin his day but I don't really know those either. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2018 09:27 AM PST A new player here. Watched few videos about Quickcast. Everyone said that its very useful. So tried it with Earth Shaker and Storm Spirit. As you guessed I had a bad game with SS. Couldn't Zap correctly, couldn't use Orchid properly. Everything is so fast. But I had a decent game with ES where I had my first 5 man Ult with blink and Ult. Quickcast helped me to blink and use ult with no time lag. So my question is, Should you use quickcast on all heroes or only on heroes that's easy and better to use quickcast. My main problem while using is when the spell is not unit target. Any suggestions?? [link] [comments] |
1k MMR Replay coaching request by hotahpeh (Support Bounty Hunter) Posted: 26 Feb 2018 03:50 AM PST Hi Guys This was a difficult choice of game. I spent much more discussing some Bounty Hunter specific stuff than I usually do. I picked this game for 2 reasons. Firstly I wanted to show off how to use Bounty Hunters Shadow Walk to get extra damage during the fade time. Secondly I wanted to discuss how to setup ganks better at low MMR, how to prepare your teammates to be ready for you so they don't mess the gank up and the importance of communication in ganking. I didnt really talk about farming in this game. I feel BH's gold should mostly come from successful ganks and track kills. Its frustrating to watch at low MMR how even a perfectly approached gank (if there is such a thing) can be messed up by a teammate failing to react, or reacting wrongly. Personally getting impatient with teammates who don't react has been something that I struggled with and has cost me MMR in the past. If theres an BH spammers I would love to hear some justifications for the battlefury because I see it so often but in almost all cases where I see it, it has virtually no impact and is wasted gold. Maybe some further discussion on the more situational times to pick it, rather than just saying its bad. [link] [comments] |
