Does anyone have a guide on farming or farming patterns?

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 11:05 AM PST

I have been trying to improve my game lately, mostly playing gyro. 2.5 bracket, having some difficulty figuring out when I should be pushing/fighting/farming, and how to transition early game leads into the later stages. Thanks!

As an int hero(Like Storm or QOP) while farming, should I be on STR or INT treads?

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 01:54 PM PST

Should I be on STR or INT treads when farming? On one hand, STR -> Tread swapping to int for spells then back to STR make spells cost less, but if I am on INT i have more damage + .6 more regen

Sven Gameplay

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 07:33 PM PST

Usually in most games, I get confused between choosing Armlet or Echo for my 3rd item after Treads, Wand and MOM. Is one better or are they situational picks?

And also for BKB, I'm having trouble choosing the correct time to pop it since Sven can be easily kited. Here's a Sven game I played where I felt pretty ineffective due to a bad landing phase and not knowing when to pop BKB. Tell me what you guys think.

Quick guide to double-stacking ancients as TA on radiant side

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 01:57 AM PST

Currently, TA's traps deal damage when allowed to fully charge. As long as the traps activate while TA is within 1800 radius of the neutrals, they will be aggro-ed towards her, allowing her to take advantage of this to stack the camps.

There is a spot in Radiant mid lane where both ancients are barely within a 1800 radius AoE of TA.

Top Ancient

Bottom Ancient

To successfully pull, you need to activate the trap at the bottom ancient between :49 and :50, followed by the top trap at around :51. As the camps get bigger you might want to activate the trap slightly earlier, the bottom camp can usually be triple or quad stacked without too much issue, while the top camp has a little more pathing issues and will require some luck just getting a triple stack.

How to deal with toxicity in Ranked matches

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 04:29 AM PST

Hey guys I just got my ranking Legend (3) and I've been playing a lot of ranked matches ever since and I've encountered considerably more toxicity in the last 6 games than I did the whole time I was playing unranked matches.

Do you find that people are more aggressive when you play ranked games? I had someone rage quit a game yesterday after dying once, another person harrassed me over the chat the whole game and asked the other team to report me (because of an accidental KS)

Item progression on viper?

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 09:27 AM PST

Is it best to go pike/maelstrom, or viel, kaya, aghs, manta? Or are they situational if you have many in your face heros then I'm assuming pike would be ideal, making the magic build good for which circumstances. I appreciate any feedback, thanks all

Preferred item progression on axe?

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 09:23 AM PST

I realize his mechanics are fairly simple I'm just curious as to what your most successful progressions are. I always rush blink after tranqs then follow by vanguard or hood/pipe depending on their lineup. Crimson/Blademail, heart. But have been trying to utilize force staff more recently. Would you guys say that force staff is a core item on axe to blink in taunt and force out? Or situationally relative? Thanks all

In what cases should I stack?

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 03:49 AM PST

With the new update providing gold for the stacker. I was wondering when should I stack or not.

Are they rules for that? Such as don't stack if your carry has no aoe damage or something like this? Or should I just always stack from min 1 till death?

Support Positioning During Downtime

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 04:32 AM PST

I'm a 1k who loves playing the support role. I have watched many tutorials on laning, roaming/ganking team fighting and my fundamental tasks as a support. But one issue that I have is what I should be doing when nothing is happening (when my carries are farming). I feel like I lose a lot of momentum by being ganked by the enemy when warding (even on my side of the river). I feel in these times I rather than standing around doing nothing, I should be doing something impactful. I know that it comes down to my positioning relative to my team but I'm unsure as to how to do this correctly and still have an impact on my carries/team progression.

How to pair with death prophet?

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 08:01 AM PST

My friend (a super casual) is spamming dp recently. My mmr is around 2.3k, he's around 1.8k. He has little impact to the game, and he seems like not having much fun.

So back to my question. What hero is good with death prophet? I dont mind win or lose since he seldom play. I just want his occasional dota session end with fun instead of failure.

I'm lost at how to improve my support play

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 03:25 AM PST

So I just had a really great start at the game, we dominated every lane and about to win the game, then a couple of fights break out where we lose both.

Then it goes downhill after that, and my team blames me for the loss, and me being the 2k scrub, I have no idea what I did wrong.

Game ended then 2 friends leave me, have I really fucked up that bad? :/

If so what can I do to improve? I really search online for help and most of what I read I have already read and understand.

[Poll] Blink Dagger or Force Staff on support as first big item

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 10:53 AM PST

Both cost 2250 gold

Blink Dagger gives great initiation and often used offensively

Force Staff can be used to initiate and often used defensively (saving an ally or self)

Couple of random questions

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 02:46 AM PST

https://www.dotabuff.com/heroes/trends

1) Why did AM's pick rate increase so much after 7.09? I dont think there's much that changes how he is played, so why did so many people pick him all of a sudden?

2) How/why did Meepo's win rate go up so much over the past week? This one doesn't even have to do anything with the patch, but apparently his win rate jumped quite a bit after 10 Feb for no apparent reason.

This could be absolutely random or a bunch of people meme'ing, but I'm just curious if anybody here has an explanation for this.

What have I done wrong in the laning stage?

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 11:52 PM PST

I usually have easy games with centaur (near 70% winrate), but this game I lost the lane to a WD and LS duo, afterwards I just got frustrated and phased out and lost the game.

I really don't know what I didn't wrong. Here's the match ID: 3736528887

How to play Rubick mid?

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 06:24 AM PST

Is rubick mid a thing or is not viable? If he is actually viable, how do you play him? I have always played the hero as a pos 4 or 5 (very rarely mid but it was 2013 so the game was completely different) and recently i've seen some pros playing him mid. I have 150+ matches on the hero so i know how it works, but i don't really understand how he can be mid and still be relevant in the game, unless he has a very specific lineup against him and he can steal a lot of stuff. Also, last question: is he strong enough to have impact in my generic archon pubs or he just falls off because of my lack of skill and the lack of trust my team puts in my pick?

Banned for playing poorly?

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 10:35 PM PST

I'm rather rusty since I haven't played this game in so long and am trying to get used to it and all the changes. I'm curious, can you get banned if you do poorly in games and get reported? I've had a bunch of bad games so far, not dying nonstop like 20 deaths or something, but generally crappy scores(my wins I generally get carried hard by other people), and I've noticed I have gained some reports from multiple people over the course of playing again. Can you flat out get banned for this, like those 6 month bans I've heard about? Like if you get enough reports for doing poorly? My conduct score is good(green laughing smiley face and green flags for all 3 stats), I don't know if that means anything. Obviously this is normals, I wouldn't dare be trying to play ranked.
