Blizzard, PLEASE let make muting someone also mute their voice lines Posted: 16 Feb 2018 07:07 AM PST I was just in a match with a Reinhardt. He spammed his voiceline, "Honor and Glory", literally the entire match long. Fifteen minutes long, every few seconds you would hear it, even mid-fight. I asked him to stop multiple times, but he would then just spam it in chat as well. inb4 someone says it's my own fault for being triggered: this was in Competitive, I'm trying to concentrate, but it's very distracting. And if I ask him to stop and he continues, then he's deliberately annoying his competitive teammates, which is the same thing throwers do. [link] [comments]

I've always loved the Posters in the Overwatch Maps, so I recreated one in Illustrator Posted: 16 Feb 2018 01:51 PM PST The posters that are all over the maps are really interesting parts of the Overwatch universe, and I thought it'd be really cool to turn a few into real-life posters I can put in my office. But of course, the screenshots in the game can't really be blown up. And I've seen posters for sale online, but they look to me just like screenshots that have been cleaned up, and since I have a lot of wall space, I wanted the posters to be very large. This is my first attempt at this sort of thing, it takes a lot longer than you'd think, even with quite a bit of experience with Illustrator. Any feedback is useful! I'm planning on touching it up a bit still before I get it printed so if there's anything that seems wonky in it, let me know. I tried to stay as true to the original poster's design but my reference image wasn't terribly high quality, so there may be things that didn't translate well. [link] [comments]

[LORE THEORY] Suspicious Handprints On Lijiang and Horizon, Follow Up On Wheelchair Story Posted: 16 Feb 2018 07:21 AM PST TL;DR version at the bottom of the post. Since I last posted about the wheelchair on Lijang Control Center, we've made new discoveries on my discord. We're not too sure about that one but it seems like there's a trail of blood stains starting at the bottom of the stairs leading to the wheelchair office, going all around Control Center on the balcony, then back in and heading straight to Dr Harold Winston's office on the opposite side of the map. We've seen the blood stain texture on different maps (Junkertown, Oasis and Horizon) and on the other two Lijiang maps, everywhere there was the same wooden floor as on Control Center so this could be nothing, just a multi-purpose texture the artists put on the wood for some reason. What we're sure about however is the presence of handprints on both Horizon Lunar Colony and Lijang Tower Control Center. Control Center and Horizon are connected by the lore, Horizon posters in both offices, some screens on CC are the same as on Horizon, etc. So it's very interesting that there are the same handprints on both maps. No handprints on the other two Lijiang maps however. I'm positive that all those handprints were left by the same individual. Blizzard wouldn't put handprints belonging to different persons just to confuse us...or would they. I doubt they would, it'd be a waste of their time and a waste of a great opportunity to tell a cool story. Now who could those handprints belong to. Someone linked to both Lucheng and Horizon. Harold Winston sure is a great candidate. His spacesuit is the only one missing which leads us to believe that he escaped or at least tried to escape from the colony either before, after or during the specimen uprising. He has an office at Lucheng so he's likely the one to have left those fingerprints on the furniture AND back on Horizon, he also had a desk, in a room close to the telescope and as a mission scientist, he probably handled crates, we don't see omnics anywhere on the map so I assume most of the manual labour was done by the scientists. Hammond is also a good candidate since he's "not found" when the uprising starts and has been spending a whole week in the colony ventilation system prior to that, likely with stolen tools at his disposal. He's in a perfect position to mess with the colony's computer network while remaining out of reach for the scientists and caretakers, he's probably the one who let the agitated gorillas out of their cells, if he's not the one who agitated them in the first place. Hammond has been confirmed a smaller specimen. Almost guaranteed he's a chimp thanks to this excellent post Another good candidate is the curious Susan. She doesn't seem as violent as the other specimens we see on the security camera footage. AND she's...actually leaving her handprints on the camera. Could be a clue that she's the one who left all those handprints, her hand looks close enough to a human's. We know nothing about her besides that she's a chimpanzee and her specimen number is 20. I checked on the in game camera on which Susan would have left her fingerprints, nothing (was too good to be true). She doesn't seem to realize what's happening, maybe she's too young to understand. Maybe it's just her personality. The way she's staring right back at us through the camera and takes most of the view, she could be important to the lore. It's a very "in your face" introduction. Out of all the candidates, there's only one we know for sure has escaped the colony and would have had access to all the spots where the handprints were found. Harold would have definitely shown the telescope to Winston, and once back on Earth, Winston could have wanted to meet the people in charge of the colony within Lucheng Interstellar for a friendly chat. But, look at Winston's hands. They're like 3 times bigger than a human's. He hasn't set foot on Earth until after the uprising, and by then he was already adult size. In the animated short Recall, Harold looks 30-35 years old, that was when Winston was still a baby, probably 2years old or younger. Winston is now 29, so if Harold is still alive, he would be around 60yo, which definitely qualifies him for a wheelchair but I don't think the wheelchair is required because of "old age". The specimens were genetically enhanced to better handle life "in space", it was the whole purpose of the Horizon colony, figuring out ways to help humans better survive in space, testing on our closest relatives first, the apes. However, the human scientists on the mission didn't get any genetic treatment so they would suffer the full consequences of a long term presence in space. Have you ever watched interviews or documentaries about people who've been to space or the Moon? They often need help standing up once they're back on Earth from a long term mission. No one stays more than 2 years on the International Space Station because of the serious impacts on the human body. Most missions only last 6 months, rarely a year. So imagine spending years on the Moon. I'm now pretty sure there was a rotation among the crew, every few months, it's just mandatory. So imagine years without rotation because Lucheng has lost connection to the colony. Imagine the damage on a human body IF anyone had somehow survived the uprising. Life in space is tough. Even in a high tech lunar colony which probably replicates SOME artificial gravity I'm sure the effects on the bones of the scientists would have been disastrous if they stayed for years. The gravity on the moon being much lower than on Earth, it messes up your body, it affects for the worst the natural, constantly ongoing process of regeneration of your bone mass which, with time, gets weaker and weaker, dramatically increasing the risks of breaking a bone upon return on Earth. But it's not just that, your heart takes a serious hit too, it doesn't pump as much blood as it does on Earth and it can, well not shrink as much as, change shape, so do your eyeballs, they flatten in the back, affecting your vision drastically and permanently. This is why upon their return on Earth, astronauts need to be carried out of their landing pod, most of them in shock and delirious like they're having an awful flu and need help for the most basic things like standing up or walking for months afterwards. Any man or woman who spends months in space will come back weaker, with sometimes permanent injuries. The exercice scientists do on the ISS helps, but not much. So imagine YEARS spent in space. When Scott Kelly came back to Earth with 2 other scientists after a year in space, the two others both broke their hips during the landing. On top of that, aboard the ISS, when the scientists breathe they expulse CO2 (well just like on Earth) but the air filtration system is so incredibly complex and hard to repair that NASA doesn't let it run at full capacity because if it breaks it can't be repaired and everyone is dead within days and thus, the concentration of CO2 within the ISS is abnormally high. Somedays, the astronauts can tell they're getting CO2 poisoning from the symptoms they have. Now I know the ISS is NOT the same as Horizon (and Horizon is decades into the future so hopefully by then they'll have figured out a better way to filtrate the air...they have a mini rainforest on Horizon for example) but one of the scientists, Flores is worried about Hammond being in the ventilation system. Maybe this is how all the scientists died, maybe Hammond damaged the filtration system or simply turned it off momentarily in a specific area of the colony, when all the scientists had gathered to deal with the "airlock e-35" distraction and the specimens were safe in their rooms. Maybe Harold is the only one who survived because he had already equipped his space suit, as he was first on site to deal with the airlock, allowing him to still breathe. What if Harold Winston survived the uprising, hiding in an area of the colony he managed to lock so the specimens can't get to him and just waited out the end of the madness. Maybe he finally escaped after months. Or maybe he survived for years alone until a Lucheng mission went back to the colony to retake it. Maybe he was the only survivor of the massacre and decided to save himself while he still could. But pulling off a rocket launch ALONE doesn't seem doable. Winston apparently did it. Not sure that Harold could have though, we don't even know what field of science he's a specialist of. For the sake of the argument let's say he has and he's back on Earth a day or two after the uprising started. He would definitely need a wheelchair to walk again after a solo launch AND a solo landing (I assume Hammond would have sabotaged the colony's radio system). In this scenario, the wheelchair would be for Harold but remember, the wheelchair is NOT in Harold's office. Maybe someone else escaped Horizon, and they took Winston' suit instead of theirs? It doesn't make sense. No one else's suit is missing. Now, were there only 9 humans on Horizon? Or were there dozens, each living in the scattered buildings all around the colony, each group on a separate mission? The base does look too big for 9 humans and 9 specimens. But that's pure speculation. Still, in that case, the probability of someone else from the colony surviving and escaping is high. Maybe the wheelchair belongs to someone who needs it permanently after a long term stay in space that had nothing to do with Horizon or the uprising. An old pioneer astronaut who's now CEO of Lucheng or something like that. The fact the wheelchair is on "that side of the desk" leads me to believe this is someone important sitting in. We don't know when in time the Lijiang map is set. Is it set right after the uprising 9-10 years ago, as OW's help has been required to find a way to regain control of the colony after Harold escaped and came back to Lucheng to tell the tale? Then the handprints would definitely be his. Is it set in present day when the newly reformed OW team visits Lucheng for some reason? We don't know. And what are those damn blue crates on Horizon, what do they mean, why was there a handprint on all of them, and the same one? Maybe there's only ONE blue crate that matters and the artists put the handprints on all of them so we'd notice the ONE that stands out. Turns out, one of them really stands out, the one OUTSIDE the airlock in the low gravity part (go through the LOWER airlock otherwise, when the door opens on the upper one, the crate will go flying into space and you won't be able to look at it. I understand the handprint on the telescope desk, someone looked at the telescope. When WE look at it, we see this. A few spots in Spain and Portugal being highlighted, Gibraltar finally locked and chosen as a landing site. Now we know Gibraltar is probably where Winston landed. But what if this is also where whoever left the handprint landed? There's certainly other clues I'm just not seeing right now. Loooooots of speculations in that post, I really need help to make sense of all that :D This is my discord dedicated to lore hunting, feel free to come and join the hunt ! TL;DR : I found handprints on the telescope desk and light blue crates on Horizon Lunar Colony. I also found handprints on many pieces of furniture in both offices on Lijiang Control Center. They HAVE to have been left by the same person. Candidates are Hammond (chimpanzee specimen), Susan (chimpanzee specimen) and Harold Winston. The wheelchair could be for someone who spent a lot of time in space, as it ruins your health, makes your bones weak and you need help walking and standing up after a few months in space so imagine years in space. See you in the comments, please no more cheesy Professor X jokes or "this is for X hero after they nerf him/her" or "Hero something totally unrelated and not funny in the slightest CONFIRMED" or references to old characters from other universes, I've had my share last post, saw dozens of each. Please stay constructive ;P PS : a big thanks to all the people on my discord who helped me write this post, couldn't have been possible without your discoveries, great job guys ! EDIT : Please for the love of lore, stop mentioning the wheelchair is not new. WE KNOW. And it doesn't invalidate any of the theories or any of the clues I presented, if anything it proves it's a story that Blizzard has been working on for a long time and really wants to tell. Thanks for doing your community service by letting people know the wheelchair is not new but the community already knows. Find something else to comment, pls, k thx bye. No you know what, please keep telling me how the wheelchair isn't new, that's the good stuff, hmmm yeah, hmm baby, keep on telling me that hmmmm ohhhhhh. [link] [comments] |
