Mojang doesn't want to add sharks, but they could add a shark-like mob. Posted: 16 Feb 2018 09:34 AM PST The main two reasons that Mojang isn't adding sharks is because.
The clip of the Minecraft Community Manager Helen explaining it is buries in this ibxtoycat video I just want to say that the fact that Mojang is implementing so carefully as to not leave an impression on people really doesn't reflect on Mojang but rather it reflects on the shear stupidity of the human species and Mojang literally has to adapt to it. I wouldn't apply the same logic to polarbears because of how endangered and isolated polarbears are in frigid conditions, an average idiot could never really get close to one. But realistically theres a simple solution to adding sharks into the game. Add a shark-like mob. Its base function is like that of a shark but it has its own theme and seperate abilities. Any kind of hostile fish would suffice really!.. As long as its not a real animal. Don't ever slip up and call it a shark or shark-like, don't advertise it as a shark. Its just a big hungry fish. Bonus points for making it red and scaly or something. So it looks nothing like a shark. And there, you've indirectly added a shark to Minecraft. Make the distinctions strong enough and nobody will try to associate the two, and if someone does... No. Its "scaly hostile fish" not a shark. But at the end of the day, I don't know. Of course this isn't the best answer to the issue and yes I'll live without sharks. But I haven't seen anyone pitch this idea so thats just my my thought. Edit: I just want to add this. After everything and all the anger in the comments i still just want to thank Mojang for trying to do a large update for us and expand the game. I appreciate every bit of content they're producing for this timeless and amazing game. I don't want to send the message of "screw mojang" but I just wish they'd be more consistent with their reasoning. I can live without sharks in the game. I can live without the ability to ride dolphins. But I just wish their reasonings for doing or not doing certain things was consistent and would add up. Otherwise this update is looking phenomenal and in the middle of all this controversy, I want to thank Mojang for their hard work and dedication to this update and the game as a whole.
