Learn Dota 2 - Aquila on QOP

Aquila on QOP

Posted: 07 Feb 2018 08:13 AM PST

Recently I've seen both Miracle and Cancel get this item on QOP after a bottle, with Cancel getting an extra null. But what I was wondering is is this really worth it? Armor and damage is great but shouldnt QOP be rushing out a veil or Eul's before that? Maybe it's situational and I'm just dumb but any help is appreciated. Also on a similar note I've seen QOP been used to counter Tinker + SF and I have no idea why. It would be great to have a good QOP explain to me these things!

I keep clicking on my opponents before casting my spell on them.

Posted: 07 Feb 2018 03:58 PM PST

Hey guys,

This is something that usually happens when I play a hero like Tiny.

For example, I quickly blink in on a lone target, I Avalanche him and when I want to cast toss on him, I accidentally click on him before tossing which ends up ruining my combo.

I've been trying to fix this issue in demo mode for the past 20 minutes but I keep ruining atleast 3/10 of my combos.

This is an issue that I've been neglecting to fix for years.

Phase Boots Huskar

Posted: 07 Feb 2018 07:01 PM PST

I mostly see people go for Power Treads on Huskar. Why is this? He seems to benefit from a bit of extra mobility and damage to go with his attack speed. Would he have mana problems without Power Treads? He seems absolutely fine mana-wise but maybe he wouldn't feel like that if I went phase?

How to be a better support (death issue)

Posted: 07 Feb 2018 03:21 PM PST

Hi, so yeah, as the title says, I need some tricks on how to be a better support. My main issue is that I die a lot, like, way more than I should. I used to main offlane and I'm trying to get into position 5'ing and I often end up 3-12-17 (quick average). I have 3k hours on the game, I can roam, offlane and mid properly, it's just pos 5 that causes me trouble. Thanks!

Losing streak in MMR I dont know what to do anymore

Posted: 07 Feb 2018 07:46 PM PST

Sooo i started playing mmr on my old account that i wasnt using anymore. On my first game I played a roaming Night stalker with a bunch of archons in solo queue and i won. I thought I would be on a streak and decided to play carry the next game, I picked clinkz i had a bad start on my lane as my pitlord support is dying a lot of times, i cant blame him though the tri was good. we almost had a comeback but its too late, Im the only one that has mkb on the team and was able to counter pa but all they had to do was to focus on me. So yea we lost. Soo the next game, the team told me to pick viper and counter the TA on the enemy side. I won the lane yet lost the game, this time they had a hard time dealing with sniper, i tried my best to gank and help on their lane but we still lost. after that i played all support because no one wants to pick any supp heroes anymore , now im stuck in trench. Im super frustrated right now because I have no clue what I should improve on myself, every single time i queue no one wants to support anymore the worst is that even if they know we would lose they will just take that as a joke, the last pick will still force his carry pick and proceed to lose the game. What can I do? Do i really need to support all the way out of trench (coz my main role isnt really support im bad at it) Can I escape my faith?.

Note: Im not really good at english so please bare with me

Support or core?

Posted: 07 Feb 2018 10:50 AM PST

I am a beginner with about 40 games. I play a ton with bots and like playing different heroes. I watch a lot of pro games and believe I have a decent understanding of the game and want to be really good at it someday. I play single draft on pubs exclusively. I like to play support, but getting a good carry/core to support is hit or miss and more often a miss due to my low level. I end up supporting juggernauts Who think this is a death match under the enemy's tower at level 2 or don't understand lane equillibrium at all and auto attack. When I end up playing cores, I end up doing well but the team loses despite my decent performance since nobody wants to support at my level. So I am stuck at this dilemma and any suggestions are welcome. Thanks for helping out.

Questions Beastmaster offlane

Posted: 07 Feb 2018 10:15 AM PST

Hello! I've been recently playing beastmaster offlane as my team is trying to incorporate it into our drafts. After watching various replays from pros and statistics from Dotabuff, I'm still confused as to how to build this hero. My main questions are:

  1. How do you decide if you should go aura / call of the wild? What should I be thinking about when taking my skills points?
  2. Is soul ring / tranquils a solid item choice?
  3. What are some of the worst matchups / good matchups support worse?

Sorry if it's a bit general and very broad, I'm trying my best to learn the hero. (Ancient 4 bracket if relevant, also excuse my bad English).

Thanks!

How do you do it? Do you play your favorite role/hero? Do you spam a hero or adjust to which hero is needed? Do you play sf or tinker to gtfo the trench?

Brewmaster's Ultimate (Primal Split)

Posted: 07 Feb 2018 06:35 AM PST

I've been playing brewmaster lately as a solo offlane since there are instapick pudge who starts roaming without an anti-creep hook.

I found this hero very interesting since it makes their carry go nuts and miss his cs drastically and supports don't play that well to tackle this situation.

I begin with a mango, stout shield, tangoes and a salve, My mid takes the rune so i try for a creepblock and spam my haze on the carry while stealing cs and denying in the meantime, I pick a rune at 2 and I am doing very well until he hits level 6.

Primal Split it is a pretty cool ultimate imo but I am unable to micro them efficiently, since I'm not good at micro I tab switch the pandas and land stun while tornado(ing) their support and try to kill atleast one hero. but then fire burns out and I am helpless at doing anything except blink + clap.

can anyone tell me the best way to learn his ultimate (I am improving my micro) how should I use my pandas and should i target multiple heroes or only one hero who is paining a lot for our team.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a Lot!

Why do ALL 6k+ players go the magic build on SF in pubs ? And what build works best in lower MMR ?

Posted: 07 Feb 2018 06:20 AM PST

searched across all games in dotamastery.io and apparently not a single pro went for the physical build in the last 5 days . Why ? I mean I know the magical SF is great but isnt he supposed to fall off late game? Ive played that build quite a few times and everytime I've noticed that the magic build is like hit and trial, in the late game, I either oneshot the enemy or he turns onto me with a bkb and im dead or someone stuns to interrupt.

Im a really low MMR (2.8k)scrub so I'd also like to know what build works best for my bracket on average given both are played to the best of their ability. Also, considering each game is 40 min or longer.

How to introduce beginners to the game ? Need tips

Posted: 07 Feb 2018 08:46 AM PST

Hey guys, i need your advice because i recently introduced ex-lol player to dota but i struggle with the matchmaking and finding good position for them to play.

So far i ask them to go on a lane with me and play as carries because it's the position with the most intuitive play style ( try to win lane, farm to get big item, then go for team fight) and i would support them. So far it went pretty well. Things go spicy when we are 3 ( me and two "noob") i either go on a lane with one got destroy where ever he goes. or i go on a lane as a core and hard win my lane ( because i face people beginners) and leave them on duo lane (off or safe) where they will hold or feed a little. In both cases game are really unbalanced and i mean really, so much that their is no fun. Any advice on this point ?

My other is problem is matchmaking, i can't play with my main account (3k mmr) because we are match with people between legend and sometime ancien player. But even with my smurf ( no mmr and 30 games played by a friend of mine wich is a beginner) we face crusaders/archon player. Should we go vs bot ? or i should only coach them ?

Is there a faster way to practice pulling and pullthroughs?

Posted: 07 Feb 2018 06:09 AM PST

Just wondering if there are commands to respawn camps/kill all creeps in custom lobbies or even if there is a custom game that lets you just practice pulls quicker or any way of practicing it quicker than one pull a minute (or 2 minutes for pullthroughs if camps get blocked)

How do you deal with smurfs/boosters in a low level game?

Posted: 07 Feb 2018 05:18 AM PST

I'm kinda surprised I didn't ask this ever before, I guess I'm lucky enough to not run into this problem a lot. Regardless, I had an extremely tilting game lately with a booster who picked Alch and clearly played like someone WAYYY above 1.5k MMR.

https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3720505136

I'm gonna be honest here - I was quite annoyed right from the start thinking this is almost a sure-fire loss since people at my rating aren't good at shutting down an Alch (myself included) and since his username literally was "MMR Booster Please Cooperate" I simply assumed he's some 6k booster whose gonna get 6-slotted at 25 mins and take our base. I went pretty stupid items because of this very reason, thinking that since this game is a loss might as well try Kaya rush on Zeus since its not like I can stop an Alch from farming so might as well try to just blow him up.

Onto the main point, how should I deal with these kind of games? Should I forget about it like it never happened, or do I look at the game and try to figure out what all went wrong? Is it worth analyzing the game when I was matched with some who clearly had a much higher skill level than mine and I probably can't even identify my mistakes?

Tl;dr how do you guys deal with boosters/smurfs?

Best way to utilize free safelane?

Posted: 06 Feb 2018 09:58 PM PST

Dotabuff link: https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3709685806

Opendota link: https://www.opendota.com/matches/3709685806

In this particular match (3709685806), I was up against a Tidehunter. I was basically able to establish that "I can kill you whenever I want so get the hell out of my lane" and I got a free lane to farm.

Things I did:

  1. Froze my lane equilibrium. (My thoughts behind it was that if I hadn't frozen it It would push out my wave and there is a possibility that Tide would come to the lane and get more last hits and experience)

  2. I managed to secure 73/47 (@10 min)

My Question :

  1. Would've got more gold and experience if I had pushed out the lane and cleared a small camp/stacked the hard camp?

  2. What is the best value in the following combinations?

1st : lane farm + lane deny + tide no lane farm & XP + no tower damage

2nd : lane farm + jungle farm/stack + tide some lane farm & XP + maybe some chip damage on tower

  1. I was afraid to stack my hard camp. Coz a simple roam from SF/Kunkka(less likely) + Shaman could've killed me and Sf/Kunkka can take that stack on their way back. I was hesitant to clear the small camp since I didn't know whether the small camp was worth a 1/2 lane creeps + 3/4 lane deny.

  2. Should I have taken the tower a lot sooner?

Thanks in Advance :D

Can't getting back my mmr.

Posted: 07 Feb 2018 07:59 AM PST

I was a legend 3, 3.8k player. Ever since I dropped my mmr from 3.8k to 3.5k, I was unable to climb back my mmr to 3.8k, instead I am dropping mmr. Even I watched alot of video guides and I knew alot of in game mechanics(like keeping creep equilibrium), but I couldn't really apply it in every of my games as there will always something that disrupts me. I really need help. Any suggestion and guides for me are much appreciated.

Last Hit trainer - High Gold/Diamond vids?

Posted: 06 Feb 2018 10:15 PM PST

Been wanting to improve on my last hitting and after several tries managed to get just gold (2700 my best only with Tblade.). Has anyone here got to diamond or even 3000 score, would like to see how this is done . I can reasonably last hit , but lane equilibrium is something that I struggle with and ending up losing a lot of ally creeps to tower

How to deal with Techies proximity mines?

Posted: 07 Feb 2018 06:28 AM PST

I'm new to the game and as I'm writing this we're getting stomped 40-10 by a Techies smurf (lvl 1 account but he's quite skilled apparently :)

How to deal with his proximity mines? I've bought sentries but they can only reveal his traps and remote mines, but apparently they don't work with proximity ones. He basically won the lane just by placing them near shop, runes and gank ways.

Thank you

Fighting priorities

Posted: 07 Feb 2018 02:26 AM PST

I want to know if there is any guide that explain this aspect of the game. Gosu.ai added a section of this aspect. At example with my actual prefer hero, chaos knight, it says: "You should focus on killing the heroes of the 1st and 2nd positions, because of your high attack speed and a huge amount of damage." Is it correct to follow this rule? At example, if i'm against 2 counters like lion and es, isnt' better killing them before?
