Looking for a player and hoping he reads the subreddit

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 10:09 PM PST

This sub is the only hope I have as my app crashed right after this game and I couldn't friend him. We met around rank 17 in Wild, my janky C'thun renolock vs his N'zoth demonlock and spent my entire break playing this game, going back and forth between us, but sadly I had to concede to go back to work right as we both hit fatigue. Axzz, if you're out there, let's have a rematch!

Edit: Server is NA

Promote Wild Arena Blizzard

Posted: 19 Feb 2018 12:42 AM PST

Make it an event, give everyone a free ticket.

Let the Arena Button glow and have an ingame banner on the bottom when you start the game that notifies everyone about it!

This feels like such a non-event.

I bloody missed North Sea Kraken

Posted: 19 Feb 2018 02:04 AM PST

I mean just look at this badass motherfucker. Did you know he had arms? I didn't, but it makes sense, he uses them to smack some bitches up. He's a big angry gyarados looking bastard with huge stats AND a sick battlecry. Other minions in wild are weak or annoying, but this guy. This guy is an OG mofo. Love him.

Lightforge Arena Tier List: Updated for Wild Arena

Posted: 19 Feb 2018 08:39 AM PST

Hey guys

Merps & ADWCTA here from the Grinning Goat. Wild Arena has arrived, and we've updated the Lightforge Arena Tier List to include all of the cards available for this 3 week event!

This event won't be like anything you've ever experienced before. With the addition of Wild cards into the current pool, Blizzard has created a completely new meta for the next 3 weeks. Players who have become accustomed to the slow, reactive pace of the K&C meta may be in for a bit of a shock when they see opponents curving out on Turns 1 and 2 consistently. Let's examine some of the most common cards you'll be seeing:

Top Neutral Wild Cards:

Zombie Chow (145): The ultimate early game card returns. Zombie Chow allows players to grab the board on turn 1, putting out an almost unfair amount of stats. A general theme in the Wild cards is the abundance of early game neutral cards available to players now. The most recent expansions heavily focused on cutting back the power level of early game cards, instead slowing down the game and giving players multiple options to remove the opponent's board. But for the next 3 weeks, early game and curve is back. Make sure you draft your 1 and 2 drops.

Fel Reaver (142): I won't go on a long explanation about why the discard doesn't matter. By this point, most Arena players know the benefits of cheating out extra tempo on turn 5. Fel Reaver is even more deadly when we account for the faster meta. If you curve out on your first 4 turns, it's much more devastating to play a 5 mana 8/8 minion and threaten 2 turn lethal. Why worry about Psychic Scream when you're threatening turn 6 lethal?

North Sea Kraken (138): The meta defining neutral from TGT returns, and it's still dominant in the late game. Kraken was the true first example of Blizzard letting loose and really rewarding players for drafting and playing a big card. Essentially a scaled-up version of Fire Elemental, Kraken is almost a guaranteed 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 exchange in the late game. Although Kraken's score is still high, it no longer dominates over the rest of the Arena late game. Recent additions such as Bonemare, Primordial Drake, and Violet Wurm have given Kraken plenty of competition for late game selection.

Top (non-Legendary) Class Wild Cards:

Druids: Top 3 Wild cards are Living Roots (164), Savage Combatant (161), and Raven Idol (141). Whether you're playing as Druid or facing Druid, be aware that Druids have gained the ability to hard remove minions with the addition of Mulch and Recycle.

Hunter: Top 3 Wild cards are Glaivezooka (169), Ball of Spiders (156), and Webspinner (149). Face is back on the menu! With the faster pace of Wild, and the influx of neutral 2 drops, Hunter should be able to take advantage and grab some wins purely by curving out.

Mage: Top 3 Wild cards are Flamewaker (152), Flame Lance (140), and Ethereal Conjurer (138). Mages gained more tools that help them in the early and mid game, but nothing that changes their consistent style of play. For those of you who want to slowly ease into Wild Arena, Mage is a good choice.

Paladin: Top 3 Wild cards are Coghammer (197), Enter the Coliseum (178), and Muster for Battle (167). Paladins have all of their early tools back at their disposal. Shielded Mini, Muster for Battle, Coghammer, and Seal of Champions are going to allow Paladins to snowball consistently.

Priest: Top 3 Wild cards are Lighbomb (224), Museum Curator (137), and Entomb (135). The boogeyman of the K&C meta, Priest will be a bit less scary during the Wild event. Priests should have less game winning AoEs at their disposal, and opponents will be able to rush them down more often.

Rogue: Top 3 Wild cards are Dark Iron Skulker (189), Pit Snake (158), and Unearthed Raptor (148). Why oh why did Blizzard ever print Dark Iron Skulker? Accept the fact that you will lose the game to this card sometimes. If you play one minion, Rogue has tempo efficient removals. And now if you spread out...

Shaman: Top 3 Wild cards are Powermace (149), Rumbling Elemental (139), and Charged Hammer (137). For those who really REALLY enjoy their RNG. May all your Crackles roll 7 damage and all your Fireguard Destroyers roll 7 attack.

Warlock: Top 3 Wild cards are Imp-losion (181), Dark Bargain (167), and Darkbomb (145). Be very careful drafting Warlock. With the addition of Imp-losion, Dark Bargain, and Darkbomb, it's easy to trap yourself into drafting too many removals. Make sure you grab enough early and mid game minions.

Warrior: Top 3 Wild cards are Death's Bite (166), King's Defender (163), and Obsidian Destroyer (130). Warriors get back some powerful cards like Obsidian Destroyer and Fierce Monkey, but the additions are sadly not enough. Make sure you draft King's Defender and pour one out for Fiery War Ace.

Most importantly, I hope you guys let loose and enjoy the event. Don't be afraid to experiment and try out some wacky synergies (I'll personally be drafting every Hobgoblin I see)! As always, happy to get your comments about our scores, and let us know how you're enjoying the event. Good luck!

Hearthstone has a basic set problem

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 10:06 PM PST

So I recently started a second account just for fun. After playing unlocking all the classes I started building decks with the basic and classic cards I had, when I stumbled upon a very difficult problem: It's really hard to make a good deck with some classes. Specially for Warrior, Priest and Shaman.

This creates a permanent problem in Hearthstone, since it means that if Blizzard wants these classes to stay relevant they have to print problematic cards like Tunnel Trogg or Drakonid Operative. I think that if Blizz wants Hearthstone to be better in the long run, they need to modify the Basic set

Weekly reminder that it would be really, really nice to have a way to gild legendaries we already own

Posted: 19 Feb 2018 08:10 AM PST

Currently, crafting a golden legendary card costs 3200 dust. Disenchanting a normal legendary only nets us 400 dust.
So if I have, say, a Kingsbane and want a gold version, I still need to cough up 2800 dust.
Wouldn't it be better for everyone if we could right-click a legendary in our collection and have, on the bottom-right corner under the flavor text, a "gild this card option" for 1600 dust? It seems to be the simplest and most elegant solution.
That way we can get the full value for a card we already own in exchange for what is essentially the same card, but shinier.

200 IQ Board Clear by Nostam

We all complain about Mean Streets of Gadgetzan but there is one thing it was great for.

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 01:02 PM PST

I now find it really easy to remember all nine Hearthstone classes. I just need to think of the three 'Handbuff classes' then the three 'Jade classes' then the three 'Potion classes'.

Before that I would always get to eight and then have to rack my brain wondering which one I had forgotten.

Hope this is okay, just wanted to share with someone.

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 11:33 PM PST

I finally made it to rank 5! I don't have any irl friends that play and I wanted to share somewhere. I solely used Control Mage. My final game was against an Evolve Shaman. The feeling when I played my board-filling Dragoncaller Alanna followed by a concede was unlike anything else I've felt in the game.

Dumbest combo in Hearthstone?

Tired of seeing Twitch Clips?

Posted: 19 Feb 2018 06:58 AM PST

Hey there /r/hearthstone,

I know some people don't care to see the Twitch clips and you're looking for more content discussion as opposed to just clips.

Well, RES to the rescue for you!

NOTE - This only works on a desktop browser, so if you're running from a mobile browser, sorry!

If you're on a mobile client, consider giving BaconReader a try!

If you aren't running RES already, I highly recommend it. It's a browser add-on for Reddit. So Step One, make sure you download RES from the subreddit above.

Once you've got RES up and running, let's build a filter!

  1. Click the Gear icon in the top right of your Reddit screen near that envelope that you want to see glow red when someone comments on your awesome meme joke.

  2. Click "RES Settings Console".

  3. On the left navigation bar, select Subreddits.

  4. When the Subreddits section opens up, select filteReddit.

  5. About halfway down the page is a section entitled Domains. That's where we're going to work our magic.

  6. In the keyword field, enter in "clips.twitch.tv" (without the quotes), set the applyTo to Only on and in the subreddits field type in "hearthstone" (without the quotes).

  7. In the top right, click the "save options" button and then click the x inside of RES Settings Console to close it out (Make sure you don't click the X to close your browser on accident though)

  8. Now refresh the /r/hearthstone subreddit.

Enjoy!

[dumb but serious question]explosive runes. Why ?

Posted: 19 Feb 2018 05:57 AM PST

Why does [[Explosive Runes]] interact this way with divine shield ? Why did they choose to make an exception to the divine shield mechanism especially for this card so there is no counerplay ? I don't understand. do you ?

Thanks in advance for your answers !

<3

edit: Why isn't the Divine shield able to absorbe all the damages ?
