Does anybody else want a botw prequel game? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 02:26 PM PST I just think it would be cool to see hyrule in its prime. In 3d Zelda Hyrule has been post (or pre) apocalyptic in all but 2 games. It would be nice to see a fully functional Hyrule in BotWs engine. And I also think it would be cool to show somebackstory on the botw npcs. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 04:31 PM PST Her heart lept at the first site of land. How long had it been since they'd first left port? It seemed like they had been sailing upon this vast sea for ages. But Lana didn't have much cause to complain. She loved the feel of the wind in her hair; the excitement of new lands. Her favorite part of sailing on her great uncle's trading ship was the new stories every land had to tell. Every country had its own legends of monsters and heroes. She was eager to hear this land's tales. "Uncle!" Lana rushed to her Uncle's side. "Uncle, will we stay at this port long?" "Hm." He stared at the distant shore for a moment before answering. "We will stay for a short time. We won't linger." The girl's shoulders sank as she looked longingly across the water. "Uncle, can't we stay for just a few days? I want to hear more stories." He turned to Lana, smiling, "My dear, we won't stay long in this place. It is a great land, and we will trade with its people. But, it is also a cursed land. When disaster befalls this place, we will want to be far away from here." Lana considered this for a moment. A cursed land? If anything, that made her want to see it more. "Could you tell me about the land?" He looked away toward port again. It would be maybe half an hour. He could tell her a little. "This place is often prosperous. It's people are diverse and welcoming. But, from time to time, a darkness falls. Sometimes the light prevails and they return to their peace. Other times, it fails, and the country falls for at least a generation." "What is the darkness?" "A great evil. It comes in many forms, though few from outside this place have ever seen it. Legend tells that at times it comes in the form of a terrible beast that destroys all that is good. But it has also come as a man with great power and influence." "Why is this great land cursed in this way?" "It is said that it was like this from the beginning. It is woven into the fabric of the land itself. It cannot escape the dark forever and the dark cannot escape the light forever." This was the part that Lana loved the most about her stories. The part about the heroes. What sorts of heroes would this land carry? "Who brings the light, Uncle?" "It is told that whenever the darkness begins the fall once again, a hero rises from obscurity to save the land. He wields the courage of his people to smite the great evil. It is also rumored that the wisdom of the royal princess guides this hero on his quest." A brave hero, a wise princess, and a heroic fight against a powerful evil? If there was ever a land Lana wanted to see it was this one. If only Uncle would let us stay! When they finally made it to the port, Lana was allowed to stretch her legs and explore. There were so many different people! She met a little girl with blue fins who was called a "Zora." They ran around the port together and were almost run over by a huge merchant made of rock! The Zora girl said they were called Gorons. She was having the time of her life! But, her fun only lasted until the sun began to set. She said goodbye to her new friend and returned to her Uncle Gan's ship. Gan watched the sun slowly set across the distant mountains of Hyrule. The bright pink and orange sky melted away to reveal tiny pinpricks of light against deep blue-black. Of all the sunsets Gan had witnessed in his years, this one was always his favorite. "Hmhm," he chuckled to himself. The town cryer was yelling something in the square. He stepped closer to hear something about a "lost princess." He chuckled again as he made his way back to his ship. Lana, his adopted niece, was just skipping back onto the deck as the last rays of the sun faded behind the mountains. Gan smiled warmly. Yes, it was good that she see the place of her birth at least once. After all, the light of Hyrule would not last forever. ***I was wondering what an outsider's impression of Hyrule might be when I started this story, but it became something else in the end. I'm not much of a writer, but I hope you all like it! [link] [comments] |
DLC Breath of the Wild. Does anyone else think that the DLC is incomplete? Posted: 19 Feb 2018 04:54 AM PST [If you haven't finished the game stop reading] I don't get why in the end of the game after beating Ganon Zelda tells you to go to the Zora domain and talk to the king and do a lot of stuff that you won't be able to do ever! I thought that in the DLC the developers were going to create a post story to do all the stuff Zelda tells you to do but my surprise was when I discovered that you only repeat the same things you've been doing during the game... You even have to beat the same bosses! I really don't get it and I wish they made something to complete the post story is said at the end of the game. [link] [comments] |
Anybody else want a game that focuses on Ganon and the concept of destiny? Posted: 19 Feb 2018 08:49 AM PST I love Zelda and I think it is cool how there is this cyclical history of Hyrule with each part of triforce playing a certain role. As link it is awesome because you always come of age and discover that you are this hero who is destined to save the world. But imagine what it is like for a character who similarly comes of age and is told that they are this blight on the world who will need to be destroyed or else the world will perish. That's probably a really shitty conversation. I think a story that focuses on Ganon as a young man trying to forge an identity independent of his destiny could be a really cool game to explore. Maybe meet the Ganondorf who ascends to be the prince of thieves. This picture on deviantart definitely got my gears turning. (Credit to NathanDupouy) There are some really cool storytelling ideas here because you could do the sort of self fulfilling prophecy sort of thing by having him try so hard to not be this force of evil that he becomes hardened and uncompromising. The whole tragic fallen hero shit and what have you. Obviously this game won't happen but it's a fun idea to think about. [link] [comments] |

My thoughts on the Majora's mask manga Posted: 18 Feb 2018 08:22 PM PST This is a continuation of a previous post I made reviewing the Ocarina of time manga There's this opening sequence of Link showing his skills off to these adult warriors to show off how experienced he is in spite of being a kid from the last journey, it's something though it doesn't really lead to much. So the pacing problems I mentioned last time are still present and for similar reasons here and I don't see any point in repeating myself on that end. Though what I will bring up is that I don't think Majora's mask's narrative is as interesting in this storytelling format due to the fact that one of the most interesting things I found about the game is meeting the people in termina and seeing how they handle the end of the world. Which isn't exactly something that would be very easy to achieve in a linear story format(especially not one that only gets one volume) I mean we do see the people in the main quest along with the Anjue and Kafei side quest, so it does hit the more major story beats(with one big exception), but it isn't quite as interesting without the little things imo. I do wish that Ikana canyon wasn't cut so short, with it only being made up of Link fighting and killing twinmold(just one of them) and that's it, the conflict of the spirits being in unrest and the little girl and her dad are completely cut. I kinda wish they at least left the plot of this land(or at least in the same way the other lands were tackled) in if all that could be tackled was the main quest + Anjue and Kafei. Though the lack of giants mask could've been because in this version "the programming doesn't allow me to use it outside of this boss fight" wouldn't really cut it as an excuse to not use it later. Small nitpick, Link seems to use the song of healing(or what seems to be since it's not very clear on what song he's playing) a couple of times throughout the story despite not ever learning it because he just turns back from going back in time. I feel like they could've worked it in by having the happy mask salesman teach it to him like in the game but in a "I'll help you turn back into a human but in return could you do me a favor?" and have that favor be getting the mask back sort of deal. A small touch that I like here is that unlike in the games Link doesn't just take Tatl's shit in this version instead he actually retaliates against her. Speaking of Link, His whole whole journey to find Navie that never comes to any sort of conclusion feels more weird here becasue 1) I'm supposed to feel invested in this character so never seeing their journey come to a conclusion feels a bit off putting and 2) We don't even see Navie leave in the manga like she did in the game, making me wonder not only why she left but also when she left. Fierce deity Link does make the ending feel all the more anticlimactic here than it does in the games where at the very least it was presented as a reward for getting all the masks, while here it's just given to Link. Finally Himekawa decides to do a backstory on the Majora's mask, it's neat for what it is. Though it's not what I would call "necessary". Though we don't get anything on the fierce deity mask, so that might be a bit of a letdown for some. So with that what I said about the Ocarina of time one is the same here, it's interesting as a written adaptation of your favorite video game, but not super great(though not awful either) as a stand alone story. Next time I'll be reviewing both Oracle of seasons and ages. [link] [comments] |

How well would Calamity Ganon Fare in the Lylat System? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 04:01 PM PST Would he be able to possess the technology of the Cornerians and destroy their civilization by turning their machines against them? Could he devastate Corneria and lylat? [link] [comments] |

I would like to see a Zelda Game based off Exploring the New World. Posted: 18 Feb 2018 11:34 AM PST I've been learning about Christopher Columbus in my history class lately and I think this could be a cool idea for a Zelda Game. Maybe Link could be the knight that hyrule sends to expand its kingdom. However a rival kingdom is trying to get in the way and that could be Ganon. There could be tons of countries that the player could explore. And those countries can count as dungeons. As you expand more and more the more people you can meet. The more small mini kingdoms that you create and employ governors as Well. The final battle can be Ganon going back to Hyrule and kidnapping the princess with his army. Then you get the army from all the mini kingdoms that you've formed to defeat Ganon and save the princess. To add to all of this I would make the Game more of a Portugal vs Spain type of game. Portugal and Spain were competing to see who could explore the most nations. So maybe Hyrule would take the place as Spain. Since at that time Spain were losing to Portugal as in terms of expanding it's Kingdom. Therefore Ganon n's kingdom would be Portugal for historical influence. I would call this game The Legend of Zelda Explorer of Legacies. I added legacies in the name because it could represent hyrule's persistence to the kingdom's legacy to other places in the world. Am I the only one who thinks the ending of BotW has seriously wasted potential? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 12:28 PM PST Instead of just warping you back to right before fighting Calamity Ganon, couldn't Nintendo have kept going and given us some side quests about rebuilding Hyrule and helping out Zelda? I get that the blood moons are important for respawning enemies and just making the game able to run in general, but I for one would not have complained if they gave some BS excuse for the blood moons to still happen. Like maybe some of Calamity Ganon's evil still lingers or something. I don't know, I just feel so unaccomplished after beating him and only having a little star on my save file to show for it. Anyone else have any similar thoughts? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 18 Feb 2018 08:33 PM PST Whenever I'm playing botw and I see someone, I'm most likely going to talk to them. But then I see the name "Traveler" and I'm like.. "oh crap." Darn Yiga Clan. [link] [comments] |
Would you like one more dlc where you can revive the real champions? Posted: 19 Feb 2018 01:54 AM PST As absurd as it sounds,I think that it may be possible. First of all,you can actually revive Creatures in this game for money (your horse). It does not matter how long or why your horse died, you only need 3000 bucks. It was also shown that people near death can be safed. Link, with a bad concussion, internal bleedings and probably some broken bones can survive ,not with ease, but without brain damage. And extreme healing abilities were already shown(Mipha, Shrine of healing at the start,fairys..). I would just like to see some new Challenges and the cities under their old leaders.
