If there’s strike specific loot and Brakion’s arm isn’t a piece of warlock arm armor, I’ll eat a bucket of chicken wings.

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 09:50 AM PST

I'll eat the chicken wings regardless.

Edit: Front Page? Thanks! I promise to do a video recording of the chicken bucket challenge™️ if I am fortunate(?) enough to have to eat til you can see chickens protruding from my stomach.

I live in the northeast US, so chicken suggestions in that region take a higher priority. 🍗

What real love looks like

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 02:47 AM PST

In Mercury strikes, can players please be pulled forward once a member of the fireteam gets through the Infinite Forest?

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 05:53 AM PST

It seems the current "go to" way to approach the Infinite Forest is to run through it as fast as possible. If you miss a jump or get taken out by 10 tracer shanks firing at you at once, you are going to be left behind, especially if you are playing with randoms. That is just how it is. You will be left behind.

By the time you can respawn, you're most likely still surrounded by the fifty or so enemies that just killed you, and that your fireteam left behind as they ran through. So, you will most likely die again...and again be left further behind.

Once you are able to actually make it through (by yourself at this point, obviously), you still have to run through the rest of the strike to just catch up to your fireteam. Or, you can do what many people do...just sit back and wait to be pulled to the end boss or just leave altogether.

It's a poorly designed system at this point, and would be fixed easily by just having the entrance to the next zone be a "pull ahead" point. That way, your whole fireteam is together for the actual strike portion of the strike.

Can this please be implemented? I don't know how easy or hard it would be, but it just seems like the right thing to do.

My girlfriend gave me a Calus-themed Valentine's Day card and I had to share it

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 08:45 AM PST

Valentine's Day with Calus

My girlfriend made me this amazing card for Valentine's Day. She understands my undying loyalty to Emperor Calus... but he may be expecting too much of me!

To be fair, she's only had to listen to me recite the lore card from Zenith of Your Kind a couple hundred times.

Black screen tower glitch is still happening!

It's frustrating. I literally cannot go to the tower. Swapping characters doesn't work. I'm on PS4.

In a followup comment someone asked if this meant a buff to the explosion and Jon said, "Heh... "increased" is one way to put it. :)"

TL;DR: If you got that beautiful new Graviton Lance ornament, it might not be worthless for much longer.

Shaxx: "Opponent has match point, and it doesn't matter. You have your partner!" Me: "Uh...He left two rounds ago"

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 10:19 AM PST

Shaxx is cool, but he isn't always right. He tried to motivate me when I was 0-2 down in a Crimson Doubles match. Unfortunately, his chosen words didn't really help, given that my partner had left in the first round! My only regret is that I didn't have the "Confused" emote equipped at the time.

Gifv (Hope I did it right, /u/Mblim771_Kyle !)

Although I forgot to record it, this match went on to be fun, as my opponents kindly stopped shooting at me and invited me to a dance-off.

Can people stop complaining about Vanishing step already?

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 08:10 AM PST

Full disclosure. I've mained a Nightstalker since Destiny 1, it's my favorite subclass. Not because it was OP and not because it was cheap. It fit the way I like to play and I would not fault anyone else playing their favorite subclass or assume just because it's the meta that they're just being sheeple. Every class/subclass has it's moment.

Everyone is bitching about Nightstalkers spamming abilities in Crimson Doubles. Really? Have we just run out of things to complain at Bungie about and we're right back to the nerf herding?

  1. If a Hunter is spamming Vanishing Step then they are also using Deadfall. That means they get one situational shot to use for their Super. No roaming, no long range instakills, no multiple shots/slams, no Sith tickle fingers, no homing slovabomb. One shot that, if they whiff it, wastes the whole damn thing. It's a trade off that they're making. They're using their other abilities to compensate for a super that might be good once or twice a match.

  2. This reduced ability cooldown is only available in this event. It's not forever.

  3. No one benefits from nerfs. Bitching that an ability is OP and needs to be reduced has not once actually made any parts of Destiny better. It's why Destiny 2 is a watered down bore fest. It's why we don't feel powerful. It's why players are dropping out for more compelling games.

I could've made a thousand posts complaining that Titans are now all roaming kill machines regardless of subclass or that since Recovery is the only perk that matters that Warlocks should have their rifts nerfed to the ground since Hunters have no intrinsic recovery abilities. But I don't. I adapt to what's in front of me and don't blame it on the mechanics. If you think something needs tweaking, find a way to offer advantages to other classes/subclasses. I barely use my Titan and even I'm on board with those shouting that Ward of Dawn needs work because it's just god awful and useless right now. And I think Dawnblade could use some love for their aerial perks cause right now their just sitting ducks when they try to maximize their in air combat abilities.

So, can those of you calling for nerfs please stop trying to gut the one good thing out of a subclass just because it'll make your life easier?

I wonder why Bungie didn't pull ideas from other MMO's. Rare spawns with unique drops would be nice.

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 06:59 AM PST

Imagine you are on the EDZ doing a public event and your screen goes black and starts shaking, bottom left of your screen a message appears "A Hellspawn is wandering the EDZ". Now you panic and scream at your friends to join your fireteam, you all sparrow up and start zipping around the zones until you see a target as high as injection rig. You all say "holy hell" and start dumping heavy ammo, his health barely moves. Your bottom left fills up with "characterx is near", pretty soon there is 10-15 guardians all dumping ammo and supers into this target trying to extinguish its life form the EDZ.

After a tricky battle, some deaths and revives (the spawn makes it so your ghost is no longer active and your party has to revive you, fireteam wipe you get sent to orbit) the target goes down. You see loot rain from the sky (tokens and gear), you pickup a weapon you never knew existed in shock.

Rare elite spawns that have an exclusive loot table? Exotics, legendary weapons/armor that only drop from very rare spawn targets on planets.

I just feel like things like this along with quests would make destiny feel so immersive and amazing. More exotic quests and or rewarding activity that give an immense feeling of uniqueness.

Note: This idea was somewhat of a memory of playing diablo 2 with uber diablo spawn. On the same note, what if we could collect items in Destiny that once together we could spawn portals to uber strike boss encounters with exclusive loot. Really bring the MMORPG to Destiny.

Why are we getting non-event shaders in event engrams?

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 07:38 AM PST

We have a limited amount of time to grab these cool looking shaders from Crimson Days. It's kind of silly that I'm getting Curse of Osiris shaders from the event engrams. Considering how the current shader economy works, I believe they should drop ONLY event shaders and not others I can earn elsewhere in the game.

Edit: I think some people might be missing the point. Someone suggested that I'm looking for "free handouts". I am not. I also get that these things will be added to the loot pool later on. I'm strictly talking about the event engram itself. Why should an engram tied to an "event" have normal items added to the loot pool?

Daily reminder that the raid no spawn glitch still exists

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 08:53 AM PST

Please Bungie fix this. It's such a small thing but gets annoying after the 100th time of switching gear to try and get the person to load in and can really put the nail in the coffin of a team struggling.

Destiny's Exotic problem

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 09:20 PM PST

Gjallarhorn. Thorn. Vex Mythoclast. Hawkmoon. The Last Word. Truth. Mida Multi Tool. Red Death. Ice Breaker.

One of these weapons is not like the others.

This post is not just about Destiny 2. This post is about Destiny as a whole.

Destiny was at its best in Year 1. Now before you write a 10 page MLA format paper on how I am wearing rose colored glasses, I ask that you at least hear me out.

Gjallarhorn - Destiny's most iconic weapon. Would bring absolute destruction to everything in its path. When Xur sold it, multiple gaming websites reported about it.

Thorn - Destiny's most infamous PvP weapon. This gun was essentially a two headshot kill from anywhere on the map because of the DoT poison mechanic. It also had the perk Final Round.

Vex Mythoclast - One of the most overpowered weapons to ever enter the Crucible. It's a fusion rifle that acts like an auto rifle. It would melt anything and everything it touched.

Hawkmoon - A Hand Cannon with three Luck in the Chamber rounds. It was a guaranteed two headshot kill if one of the LitC rounds proc'd. If all three LitC rounds proc'd on the same bullet, it would be an instant one shot headshot kill in the Crucible.

The Last Word - An automatic Hand Cannon that guaranteed two headshot kill in the Crucible when firing from the hip.

Truth - A Rocket Launcher with ultimate tracking. The rounds fired from this weapon would literally turn a complete 180 to hit its target.

Mida Multi Tool - A Scout Rifle with Third Eye.

Red Death - A Pulse Rifle that would completely heal you each time you got a kill. This weapon could potentially two burst a Guardian in the Crucible.

Ice Breaker - A Sniper Rifle that would regenerate rounds every 5 seconds. Enemies killed by this weapon would also explode.

Do you see it? It's clear as day. One of these weapons is not like the others.

The Mida Multi Tool.

When I think Mida Muti Tool I think average. Because it is average. It is not special in any way.

We have all heard it before. Bungie goes on stream to talk about sandbox changes. And seemingly every time they say something along the lines of "We like where Mida is currently. It is balanced."

There is your problem.

If I was looking for balanced gameplay, I would play Halo. Nobody plays Destiny for balanced gameplay. In a world where I can become Thor, Captain America, and Emperor Palpatine there will never be such a thing as balance. So why has so much focus been on balance? Bungie has proven over 4 years that they cannot balance this game. And do you know what? That's fine. Because Destiny is not meant to be balanced.

Bungie has let this average weapon (Mida) run the Crucible for over two and a half years. And that is what Destiny is becoming. Just average. Most of the new exotics are average. It's like Bungie is afraid of creating something too powerful. Mida was a joke in Year 1. People who started playing Destiny in Year 2 or after probably cannot comprehend the previous sentence.

Was Year 1 balanced? Absolutely not! But was it fun? Absolutely!

And do you notice something? Every single weapon I mentioned was a Year 1 weapon. Somewhere after Year 1 Bungie started focusing more on balance, instead of focusing on the most important aspect of any video game: Fun

In a way, I don't blame Bungie for this. They were only listening to what people wanted. I would come to this subreddit every day and see people asking for nerfs. Here are examples of nerfs that I can remember people asking for:

  • Nerf Vex Mythoclast!
  • Nerf Suros Regime!
  • Thorns of Osiris! Thorns of Osiris! THORNS OF OSIRIS!
  • Nerf Last Word!
  • Nerf No Land Beyond!

Don't get me wrong, Year 1 Thorn needed to be nerfed a bit. The first nerf Thorn ever received was actually creative. They nerfed the damage for the DoT, but allowed the DoT to be stacked more. This allowed Thorn's DoT to do less damage in PvP, while actually improving the damage it did in PvE. This was great! But Bungie will be Bungie. And they nerfed it some more. And some more. And some more. Bungie was like, "We have reduced the range on Thorn by 25%." And then they were like, "We have reduced range falloff on all Hand Cannons slightly." Which just nerfs Thorn even more. Bungie castrated, not just Thorn, but all of our favorite weapons. The same thing happened to Hawkmoon. They nerfed the damage the LitC rounds did, and nerfed the range. They made it so the LitC rounds could only stack twice, which eliminated the chance for it to one shot you in the Crucible. These weapons became shells of their former selves. Nerfs like these take away the fun of the game. It was these nerfs that made me give up on Destiny 1 in Year 3. Because whenever I used Y3 Thorn, Hawkmoon, or Vex, the only thing I could think was "Wow, these weapons are trash."

Year 1 Exotic weapons were iconic. Do you guys remember the Year 1 reaction videos? Gjally would drop and people would scream as loud as they could into their mic. Do you know why they screamed? Because Gjally was an incredible weapon. Gjally was, and still is, iconic. There are no iconic Exotic weapons in Destiny 2. There's nothing to get excited for.

Rat King? LOL

Bungie, don't be afraid to let us have fun! Exotics should be overpowered. That's why they are called "Exotic." People are always going to find something to complain about anyways, so at least let us have fun while they're complaining.

TL;DR - Give Exotics their balls back, please.

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 08:03 AM PST

Like the title says, I think it would be an awesome competitive node to keep! I loved playing it in D1 and didn't realize how much I had missed playing it.

And it's been great to see everyone being a little more positive on this subreddit and enjoying the game again.

Up by one point with seconds left in Crimson Doubles? Hiding is ok!

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 12:00 PM PST

I'm blown away by the randoms I'm joining in Crimson Doubles that charge into a firefight with seconds left when we're only up by one point in a round.

Scenario...

  • We're down by 1 point with 15 seconds left in the round.
  • We manage to kill both opponents around the same time. We're now up by 1 point.
  • Opponents spawn somewhere on the map together.
  • My teammate charges towards their spawn point.
  • I'm running the opposite direction as running out the clock with no change in score == round victory.
  • Teammate leaps into deathtrap, dies, and the round is now tied and goes into tiebreaker.
  • I now (alone) must work towards the capture point waiting for my teammate to spawn while the two opponents are able to start capturing the point. Teammate spawns and we're so far apart the indicators are over our heads.
  • Death becomes us, round lost.

Seriously, when are we going to get new enemies?

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 05:08 AM PST

With all the other problems it seems to me that this is never talked about. I know we got some reworked cabal, and that's great (I love the way their shields work now the old ones were super aggravating) , but what about the rest? Really I'm getting extremely tired of killing the same enemies. I started in year 3 of D1 and I'm already tired of it. I can't imagine the people who played since launch. Personally I wish less time was spent on all these cosmetic rewards (especially the ghosts which no one can even see anyway) and a bit more time was spent on the bad guys.

Curse of Osiris acted like it was introducing NEW vex enemies, instead it introduces different colored vex. I mean what kind of BS is that? How is that acceptable to drop a vex based DLC with past and future versions of the enemies and they are THE EXACT SAME? That broke my heart and really was the biggest blow to my D2 expectations (aside from armor having LESS stats instead of more like I thought would happen)

It's amazing how no one talks about this. Is everyone seriously ok with the total lack of new additions to enemies each DLC? You'd think there would be 1 or 2 at least. Bosses are cool but they aren't enemies that can be placed in other situations to change up and liven up those old situations.

I know this hasn't been brought up much but I'm worried if we don't make it clear we want this that Bungie won't ever do it. So if anyone else is interested in new additions to the current enemy races could we get some positive feedback on that to show Bungie? Thanks.

And Cosmo if you are reading please tell me there are new enemies in the works right? Right...? Pretty please?

Edit to be clear I'm talking about new types of enemies that fall under existing enemy races. But a new race be nice too for a major update. But minor updates should have at least 1 new enemy I'd think. Kinda weird that not a single new enemy in Curse of Osiris (changing color scheme isn't new, bosses are always new so that's not the same thing

My Favorite Rendition of the Ahamkara - HD Image

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 11:34 AM PST

This is an artist's beautiful rendition of an Ahamkara that I ran through a neural network and retouched a bit to bring it to HD.

I did not author this work! The original artist and image can be found here: Original Piece

I haven't found a whole lot of artwork showing the Ahamkara as anything other than Skyrim-esc dragons, would love to see other versions if anyone has favorites to share!
