Community Tournaments

For the past several months we've been working in collaboration with esteemed members of the Black Desert Online community and senior leadership at Kakao Games to create an exciting and new event for the entire Black Desert Online community to enjoy. We plan to have quarterly tournaments for both EU and NA players, where we'll be using rotating PvP formats, and will award exclusive in-game items and titles that are otherwise unobtainable from standard player-sponsored events. Please continue reading for a general overview of these tournaments, and for specifics on Community Tournament I.

 

Tournament Scheduling

Community Tournaments will follow a standard schedule. While the exact dates for the tournaments will remain a mystery, we're going to aim at having more tournaments in the future, and each tournament will take place over an entire weekend. Each Community Tournament will be announced two weeks prior to the signup announcement, and the signup period will last exactly two weeks (or until all spots are filled). NA and EU signup periods will be simultaneous, however the EU tournament will be held one week after the NA tournament.

 

Tournament Formats

Community Tournaments will feature rotating formats. Community Tournament I will be using a 2v2 format, however future tournaments will rotate their formats to keep the tournaments interesting. We are currently planning on doing 2v2, 3v3, 5v5, Guild vs Guild 20v20, and individual class 1v1s. As mentioned earlier, whichever format we use for a tournament, we'll announce the tournament and format two weeks prior to signups - so that players have time to set up teams.

 

Tournament Rewards

Community Tournaments will be the most rewarding tournaments ever hosted for Black Desert Online, not only for the winners but for the community as well. The prize pool will be announced on signup day (which is in two weeks, February 16th). We'll update the rewards once they've been finalized, but we'll have some exclusive in-game and offline prizes! The subreddit will be giving out unique flair to participants and winners for the tournament. In addition, winners should make sure that their parent's basement has an up to date mailing address, because Kakao Games will be planning on sending the winners some fun merchandise!

 

Community Tournament I

To commemorate the 2nd anniversary of Black Desert Online, our first tournament will be held Friday March 2nd - Sunday March 4th. This will be a 2v2 tournament, the specifics of the brackets, official rules, prize pool, and more details will be given on the signup date on February 16th. The tournament is being overseen and managed by the subreddit along with with our commentator and host, /u/OrcaNaria !

 

Tournament Volunteers / Guest Hosts

If you're interested on volunteering for the tournament as a judge or volunteer, please contact me via private message, or via the Black Desert Community Discord where my username is the same as my reddit name. If you're interested in making an appearance on the stream, please message Orca and be sure to provide clips and a link to your twitch account. We're both busy people, so be patient with replies. Tournament volunteers and judges will receive in-game event titles as compensation, and these spots are limited. Priority on judges and volunteers will go to members of the community who have hosted PvP tournaments in the past, so feel free to reach out.

 

Closing and Thanks

I have to thank /u/OrcaNaria and Project Manager Cool for all of the work they've put in to making these tournaments happen over the past few months. The three of us really wanted to create something for the community that would be fun, challenging, and rewarding for everyone who participates or enjoys watching. Thank you for the back and fourth emails, scheduling conflicts, and late night phone calls. Also, /u/Tekeii has been phenomenal with helping us out on the EU front, thank you for all your help thus far! Last but not least /u/Agarest /u/Jamtraxx and /u/FeightBDO are a constant source of ideas that are better than my own and logistical planning that will really make these tournaments more enjoyable for everyone.

Besides the upcoming Offin Tett mainhand boss weapon, what do you think the devs will do for the upcoming alternative Dande Boss weapon with the next expansion?

Since Offin Tet has been in KR for awhile as the AP + attkspeed+crit mainhand and is being used by a few classes as the new BiS over kzarka, (some classes were overcapped on attkspeed with crystals/food, they discovered running 2 Jin vipers gave 16 accuracy and fits perfectly with Offin Tet and allows for a total gain of 3 AP for a loss of 2 accuracy overall with the AP buff)

What do you think the alternative to the Dandelion awakening weapon will offer?

Right now each boss gear has an alternative

Offhand - Nouver/Kutum

Mainhand Offin Tet/Kzarka

Helm - Griffon/Giath

Chest - Red Nose/Dim Tree

Gloves - Bheg

Shoes - Muskin/Urogan

The devs said during their conference a few months back that this year and for each expansion they plan on adding 1-2 new boss gear. Seeing as only gloves and awakening is missing an alternative it seems like the logical choice.

What do you think the alternative glove /awakening will differ in?

Hello guys,

Recently I am really hooked onto BDO and have been playing it for almost 10days. I love the life skill content of the game because it doesn't fully focus on endless grinding. As I progresses into deeper content of life skill I came across trading crates , afk processing and cooking to earn for passive income , and I thought it would be good for for me as a casual player to earn silvers. May I seek advice from experienced players here to guide and advice me into earning passive silver . Thank you
