New information about God of War from the Game Director himself, Cory Barlog. Posted: 02 Feb 2018 03:36 PM PST Corey: Says that Kratos wasn't necessarily cast as a villain in the previous games, but he's definitely not a great guy. The last story trailer didn't really give away much despite what some may fear. Cory says that he's a big fan of keeping everything close to their vest and allowing gamers to experience it on their own. When asked how he's going to prevent a 25-30h game from being repetitive he says "By not making it repetitive". He goes on to say that they didn't set out to make a game that long, it just sorta happened by accident. So he feels that everything in there just helps enrich the experience. Reiterates that the world is very big and ripe for exploring. And much larger than the previous entries. Optional Bosses? Yes Upgrading Health? Yes (although it's handled differently compared to the previous games) Behind the Scenes footage? They haven't confirmed or denied it. But Cory says that he loved doing them in the past. "Take from that what you will." Number of people from past GoW's working on this. "Rough count" 20-40 people Cory used this sequence from Hard Boiled to sell people on the single shot idea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=8&v=4OPyoJgV_YY He feels the story here sets up for a much bigger arc. Which will be a 2 chapter arc for Kratos He's asked if he'll return for directing another GoW and says that he's a fan of letting a fresh set of eyes look at the world. But he isn't going anywhere. He'll still be there working on some great stuff. [link] [comments] |
