| Posted: 31 Dec 2017 11:44 PM PST In the midst of this new year and all its festivities I want to give a huge thank you to this sub and all the advice it has given me over the last two years. I primarily just read what's posted but from it all I've gone from someone who could beat the ai to actually understanding fighting games. Right now I'm spending my new year teaching a few friends how to play sfv and it's one of the best feelings I've had in a long time. Hopefully this embarrassing post gets drowned but once again, thanks for helping me get better at the one genre of gaming I love the most. [link] [comments] | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Street Fighter 5 Low fps when my connection to network is turned on. Posted: 01 Jan 2018 05:41 AM PST When i turn off connection to network (Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller) from control panel i get 60 fps. But once i turn it on it drops up to 30 or sometimes lower. Doesn't matter if the game is online, or if the steam is online, even when i turn off my router it still drop fps, only when i turn off that thing i got stable 60 fps. | Discovered the strangest tech on Birdie I've ever seen in a fighting game Posted: 31 Dec 2017 01:38 PM PST Ok in short for ex bullhorn you press and hold 2 or more buttons and let go. Simple, makes sense, right? So on my pad I use the button bound to 3 kicks to charge ex bullhorn. If I'm holding said 3 kick button, and MASH 3 punches, ex bullhorn will ALWAYS come out as a reversal. So this means if I am charging with kicks, and mash punches, ex bullhorn will always come out on frame 1 after whiff recovery, blockstun, hitstun, and wake up. In addition, I found out if after doing the ex bullhorn caused by mashing the 3 punches, I can continue to mash said punches and get another one (whiff recovery principal I guess), or I can now LET GO of the 3 kicks button immediately and still have it come out, like it doesn't lose the charge. What is possibly causing this I'm completely dumbfounded. As I said earlier, the command for ex bullhorn is to hold and let go of two or more buttons, so why does holding one set of buttons and mashing the other WITHOUT letting go of the one being held in the first place cause it to come out as a reversal 100% of the time? I've never seen a stranger, more unexplainable tech in a fighting game before and would love in explanation as to why it's happening. I've been searching all over the internet and have found nothing about this. Did I just discover new tech?? It also seems practical to use in game too because a common problem I have is letting go of 3 kicks too early while in block strings and end up losing the charge when I want to armor out of a frametrap. Now I can mash while in said frametrap and get a guaranteed reversal without having to time it correctly. I'll try to upload a video of this soon. I want to show my hands on the pad so I just need to figure out logistically how to film that on my phone to upload [link] [comments] | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Posted: 01 Jan 2018 06:39 AM PST Steam has the SFV Deluxe Edition for $36.46, and I looks like this includes both character passes with the base game. I was planning on waiting to buy AE for $40, but isn't this the same exact thing? Which deal would be better? [link] [comments] | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Childhood Memories: Did people cry foul when you throw them? Posted: 31 Dec 2017 06:28 PM PST Nowadays, throws are done as part of the mix up game and no one says a word, every good player mix up combos, meaty wake up with throws. But back in the days, I have seen everything from crying "cheese" to verbal abuse to unplugging the arcade machine to physical attacks in the arcade when you throw people. Characters like Zangief were more accepted. But if you jab throw someone with Ryu, it is cardinal sin. You usually let the other guy throw you back to even things up. | Need some advice on playing Alex Posted: 01 Jan 2018 02:34 AM PST Hey all, Looking for some advice from Alex veterans. I am a fairly average player but I really enjoy playing Alex. Flash chops and slash elbows are my bread and butter with a healthy dose of head crushes and power bombs. I love the fact that he can reach the opponent from a fair distance and can do some real damage up close and personal. What I feel I'm missing out on is using my anti-air and v-trigger. Anti-airs first - I can pull off an anti-air right at the start against opponents who tend to jump in but I'm hardly able to time it in the middle of a match. Given how much One has to move during a match, I am unable to execute anti airs. When I see my replays I do notice multiple opportunities where it could have been useful. Any advice on how I can better myself in executing anti airs? Should I moving less and reacting more to opponents? V-trigger - this is a meter which goes completely unused for me for 9/10 matches. Even if I do activate it I am unable to time the opportunity and more often than not the opponent is out of reach even if I try using it. Any advice on how and when to use v-trigger? Thanks in advance [link] [comments] | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Posted: 01 Jan 2018 06:27 AM PST Just for some context i am a complete noob in the fighting game genre, I want to get into it, but I don't know if I should buy the cheaper SF4, which is older , or SF5, which is more expensive and has received a lot of backlash, I'm playing in pc btw. | Why do people sometimes wait until I’m the middle of a combo to use their v-trigger? Posted: 01 Jan 2018 06:23 AM PST I see a lot of Laura combos where the combo requires you to activate the v-trigger in the middle of the combo, why is this? Does activating v-trigger cancel recovery? | Posted: 31 Dec 2017 06:13 PM PST I made a post nearly a month ago about my fear of jumping online... because of the amazing comments I read I decided to take that plunge... I've been playing sf ranked now for 3 whole weeks I believe and just hit silver as New Years was approaching. Not trying to blow my own trumpet but I got a tad bit excited aha... Thing is I'm still stuck on who to main... I've played Ryu this whole week and love his honest gameplay but one bad fireball and I'm fucked, plus I cannot for the life of me beat Akuma... he is terrifying. | Am I on the right track with frame-data? (frametraps in particular) Posted: 01 Jan 2018 12:39 AM PST Let's take Ryu's for example: If Ryu presses St.LP > St.MP St.LP is +2 on block which means that it'll make St.MP's startup frames 3 despite being originally 5 frames? We do this by doing simple math like 5-2=3. So what if the first move is negative on block? Like this one: St.MK > St.LK St.MK is -2 on block, does this mean that St.LK will have 6 startup frames instead of 4? Because 4--2=6? And if a move is zero on block, then it means that it won't affect the next move startup frames at all. Am I on the right track with this? Just making sure since I don't wanna interpret all of these numbers the wrong way. [link] [comments] | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
