| Fightstick: Hori RAP4 kai or Madcatz TES+? Posted: 31 Dec 2017 09:29 AM PST Guys, please help me to decide which arcade stick to buy. Here in Brazil (where everything is expensive so do not be surprised), I found the hori rap4 kai for 240 dollars and the madcatz TES + for 220 dollars. I was almost certain to buy the Tes +, because I have always heard about the brand and the components (sanwa). but recently I've seen that the guys always recommend the hori or qanba controls, never even wanted to see TES + recommendations. Does TES + have any problems that make it not recommended? Which one do you recommend? basically for street fighter 5 and fighterZ [link] [comments] | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| most players are under silver in sfv? true? Posted: 31 Dec 2017 09:38 AM PST I heard somewhere that 70-80% of players are under silver ranking... no way that's true right? so I'm getting my butt kicked by like the top 10-20% of the playerbase? (I'm ultra gold) does this count the people that play like 1 1-2 online matches then quit and people who plays casual online matches only? [link] [comments] | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Posted: 31 Dec 2017 09:36 AM PST picked up tekken in june for my first taste of fighting games and it was fresh and fun experience but I was hoping it would reward skill a bit more. I dont know if this is the case with SF aswell but I feel like offense is way too easy compared to defense, with online latency nearly all players you encounter rely on strong offence alone, and its pretty effective in a lot of cases. defense is knowing the plethora of mixups and frametraps that every character has and trying to master the most awkward movement system ever... I know offence is just as easy in SF but from what I can tell there is FAR less gimmicks and defense isnt as difficult... is this correct or will I feel a similar imbalance with this game? will I be learning defense and offense at a more equal rate compared to tekken? I feel like SFV will be more boring at first though , the easy, super varied and visually pleasing offense in tekken offers a lot of casual fun but of course it got stale after a while [link] [comments] | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| How to get better with Makoto in USFIV? Posted: 30 Dec 2017 07:07 PM PST Hello all, I've been playing Street Fighter since way back on the Genesis, though only casually with relatives and the occasional con tournament for lols. Ryu has been my guy since the very beginning, and I hold my own against other scrubs with him and Sakura (low-key my favorite character to play), but I've recently developed a desire to get a bit more serious with the game. Thus, I have finally gotten myself an arcade stick, and in the interest of unlearning the myriad bad habits I've developed whilst playing with traditional controllers (special-happy, jumping all over the place, never dashing because my thumb doesn't move that fast, &c. I'm sure you know my type), I've decided to start with a new character and retrain myself from the ground up. It's not going so well. It seems like the more I play her, the worse I get. Could just be frustration, I guess, but is it my imagination or do her combos actually require tighter timing and execution than, say, Ryu? Is that a thing in this game? Out of curiosity and general frustration, I pulled out my old standbys, and some of my issue is no doubt due to the transition from controller to stick, but my issue seems to run deeper than that. I'd like to say I've hit a wall, but with the severity with which I've been getting my ass handed to me trying arcade mode with fight request on, it seems like there's a wall I have yet to hurdle right out of the gate. Resources I find online assume a much greater general competence from me than I have and use a lot of terminology that I cannot translate. This newb scrub or whatever people like me are called formally requests help. Thank you kindly in advance. [link] [comments] | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| How often do you seesaw in this game? Posted: 30 Dec 2017 09:46 PM PST I made a lot of progress over this past weekend but today, I seesawed between Super Silver and Ultra Silver. I eventually got back to Ultra Silver in my last two or three matches at 3555 or so but it was an inconsistent day. And yes, I know Silver tier isn't that good, lol. | Posted: 30 Dec 2017 07:56 PM PST *Note this was over a week of time. Decided to pick up SFV probably about a month ago but haven't played until just recently and have just recently put in my first actual 24 hours. I must say that I can see why most people don't stick with fighting games for very long in general. Coming from mostly FPS and arena based games I was always interested in learning fighting game after watching the famous Daigo parry but was put off by there being no clear starting point. A week ago a friend of mine bought me a Qanba Obisidian for Christmas as he is really big into fighting games and wanted to get me a proper stick to learn on. The first 4 hours I literally just learned buttons, the range of Ryu's moves and practiced my ability to put out specials by doing 5 in a row and rotating through all of them. Honestly I felt very confident about halfway through this, I was able to get specials to come out and with a good success rate. I finished with learning how to do small 3 hit combos into my critical art, overall very basic stuff. After that I assumed I would not be ready for online play so I decided to play through the story mode to get the feeling of playing against a moving opponent. This was pretty straight forward and I pretty much breezed through the story with not much trouble. Overall I assumed after finishing the story that I would be ready to try out ranked and see how well I stacked up to other Rookies. Well that didn't go so well because I never found a Rookie, just bronze players who wiped their ass with me every round. Not knowing what to do next I just went back to practice an spent a few hours there only to become bored and go back to online, this time choosing casual matches instead. Well it wen't about just as well as ranked, mostly bronze, silvers, and a handful of rookies. I am currently sitting at about 11 wins and 63 losses and really don't know what to do next. It doesn't seem like there is a bridge between practice and execution. Now I don't care about difficulty, but the problem is I am not improving from someone combo pushing me into a corner all game and stunning me every round. Blocking seems useless as they either break through it and stun me or they can continuously keep attacking me allowing me no chance to attack back. Not only that but I seem to be playing people who are severely higher rank then me with my wins coming from the handful of rookies I have found and maybe 1 bronze player. Considering gaming is my entertainment for the day after a day of work, I just don't find the fun sitting in training hitting a bot over and over or going online and gaining no knowledge from getting stomped by players who have obviously played this game years longer then I have. What is my next move? Where should I go from here? Is this what it is to play fighting games? Cause currently I don't feel like I am having a fun time but I don't want to give up, the game keeps dragging me back to play. [link] [comments] | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
