Hearthstone - Streamer Sundays Weekly Discussion

Streamer Sundays Weekly Discussion

Posted: 30 Dec 2017 04:11 PM PST

Do you enjoy watching streamers? Do you wish there was an easier way to find new up-and-coming streamers beyond the well-known, established Twitch goliaths?

Do you have a stream yourself? Are you looking to get exposure but not sure how given how Twitch displays streams and how one-shot stream promotion posts on Reddit tend to get ignored? Is anyone still reading these questions?

This thread is for you!

If you are a streamer or know of a cool, lesser-known (read: doesn't regularly pull in 1K+ viewers) streamer feel free to post the URL and a short, informative pitch about why you feel others would be interested to watch it. Why should someone watch your suggested stream rather than one of the hundreds of other streams out there?

The next great streamer might be just one comment away.

Enjoy!

A wild player's view on how to make wild more attractive

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 05:22 AM PST

Hey guys my name is Sipiwi94. About 1 year ago I started playing wild only. I have finished #1 multiple times and just had a ton of fun playing the format. I think now would be a good time for me to talk a little about the small amount of players in the format and what I would like to see in the future to change it a bit.

I think there are a couple of reasons why casual players don't play a lot of wild.

It is expensive to get into the format.

This is true, but I think a lot of people underestimate how fast it becomes just as cheap as standard or cheaper. Several people have analysed this (see here). The big thing is that even with a huge card pool the amount of playable cards is not that much bigger. Another thing that goes in wild's favor is that from expansion to expansion the decklists will not change a lot because of the smaller amount of new cards being playable in wild. And finally decks don't die because a old cards become illegal to play. I assume a lot of you guys have crafted Jade Druid, Patches aggro decks. Kazakus deck, Barnes decks etc. All of those cards will probably be playable forever.

So the main reason why it is more expensive to get into wild is that you can't buy wild packs in game. I would really like to see this change. A wild pack should allow you to open all cards that rotated out, and maybe add a warning when you buy those (just like when you craft them).

Pro players don't play it and people follow the crowd

Pro players have no reason to play wild. There is no points on the line. I think this is fine. However, back in june there was a Wild Tournament (top64 from all servers play a qualifier where top2 moves to a lan event) from blizzard that actually made a lot of pros play wild. I talked to a lot of them, and they all said it was very fun and nice to change things up a bit.

So what I would like to see is that this tournament will keep being a thing. Maybe 1 time a year, or maybe 1 for each HCT season (Summer, Winter, and Spring). Seeing wild on stream etc. might get more people into the format.

A last small change for the casual player

The last thing I would like to see is that you can get a season chest from both formats. The wild chest should give you golden wild cards. This is not a huge change in my opinion, but I think it would make more players try out wild and maybe some of them would find it enjoyable.

TLDR: Ingame wild packs, Separate Wild season chest, and 1 wild tournament per year (or 1 per season) would probably help wild quite a lot.

Please share your opinions below :-)

EDIT: So some people talk about balance problems in wild etc. So I thought I should write a little about the public wild opinion. "It's all Naga + Giants turn 5" - No the only giant deck out there is hunter. And that deck is probably tier 3. "Dr. Boom is in every deck" - I actually don't think I have faced Dr Boom in any of my last 50 games in top10 legend. The card doesn't have good synergy with anything so it is not great anymore.

Ofc wild is not for anyone and there are problems. Just like standard. Personally I think standard is a bit dull cause many decks are similar and you don't have to play around a lot of cards. It often feels like playing on curve and hoping for the best. I think the main issue in wild atm is that people can highroll often. Barnes is an example, or Aluneth, or perfect demon pulls for warlock, and Raza + Anduin before turn 10. But this is actually also the case in standard.

I have an Idea for the new Dungeon Run mode that could get it even more fun.

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 02:44 AM PST

Woulndt it be great, that if you success your run, instead of ending it completely, you would be matched versus another person who won his run? It would be like the most crazy tabern brawl, but it would always be fun and diferent. By winning your opponent in this case, we maybe could get some rewards(like 10g for each victory).

What are your thoughts about it?

Idea: Card Shop

Posted: 30 Dec 2017 12:48 PM PST

There's a free tab in the shop store right now and I think it'd be a good idea to have a rotating set of cards that change each week that you could spend dust and/or gold at for discounted-cost cards.

Call it 'Brode's Pre-Opened Packs' or some such. The stock would be 2 common cards, 2 rare cards, and an epic card. Maybe have the epic replaced by a legendary every other week.

You could only buy each card twice or once per legendary. Wouldn't need to buff dust return rates or anything like that and it would make acquiring new and specific cards easier.

Lynessa Sunsorrow is pretty decent and carried me to rank 5

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 07:04 AM PST

I know you all think you can get to rank 5 using any deck.

Still, i might be on to something...

The deck wants to make as much tirion fordring's as possible and resurrect them with n'zoth. Lynessa is your finisher. You should only play her after all silences have been used.

It is favored against cubelock, aggro and tempo decks. It has trouble dealing with evolve shaman and Mage. But i encountered little of those.

Try the deck and post your experience below
