Self Post Sundays! - December 31, 2017

Posted: 30 Dec 2017 08:09 PM PST

To foster more discussion about the games every Sunday we turn the subreddit into self-post only mode.

Self-Post Sundays are our main discussion day. On those days we only allow text posts directly about the games themselves.

Please save your images, fan art, screenshots, videos, etc to the other days of the week. Use this day to discuss the games. Other posts will be removed.

Which Zelda game do you find the coziest?

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 02:28 AM PST

Might sound like a weird question, but I always found the Zelda games to be cozy. You start off in a peaceful little village in most of the games, and the music is usually cheerful everywhere you go. I also like the art style and the way buildings are shaped, everything is quaint with fantasia. It's the same way I find the Harry Potter movies to be cozy, idk.

I guess Wind Waker and OoT would be my pick.

So I found the bridge from the E3 Preview in 2014 where the guardian is chasing link and breaks the bridge and link jumps off the horse and pulls an ancient arrow.

What is the likelihood of a switch remake of Skyward a sword and Twilight Princess?

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 08:28 AM PST

The other night I had the incredible opportunity to attend Zelda Symphony of the Goddesses. Of course while there I had the strong urge to go back and play through all the Zelda games again. However, Skyward sword and twilight princess were very prevalent in the symphony. So of course I got to thinking, "ok I'm going to go out and buy a wii and nab those two games." As I have never owned these, just played them briefly at a friends house.

Now I guess my question more is about, would it even be worth getting a wii for both of these games or is it a waste of money due to the slight chance both may get a port onto the switch?

From what I understand people theorize that there will be either an had collection including: Majoras mask, Ocarina of Time, Windwaker, Twilight princess, and Skyward Sword. What are your thoughts? Worth getting the old system for this or waiting a few years?

What does everybody hope for in the next Zelda?

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 09:46 AM PST

Do y'all hope it is like botw, a huge open world, or do y'all hope it's a return to traditional Zelda.

Do you guys think that the crouching power stab in Ocarina of Time is a “glitch” and why?

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 09:43 AM PST

My friends argues that this is a glitch in the game, but to me it doesn't compare to something like infinite sword glitch.

2D game recommendations?

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 09:33 AM PST

After getting into the Zelda series this year with Ocarina of Time I made it my goal to play all the 3D Zelda games. The only one I have left is Skyward Sword and once I finish that I'd like to get into the 2D games. What are some of the best 2D games and Is there a certain one I should start with?

Champion’s Ballad song?

Does anyone know the song Kass plays when you find him at the four monuments? I can't place it, but I know I've heard it before!

Hi I'm new here. I wanted to ask something.

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 12:11 AM PST

3 years ago I rage quit (I literally couldn't figure out how to use the Wind Waker) from Zelda The Wind Waker (HD, Wii U). I started playing recently and just exited the Hyrule Castle. (Absolutely gorgeous all around, especially the sound track and the hanging pictures in the castle) Without any spoilers for the rest of the plot of the game, could someone fill me in on Zelda history until Wind Waker? (no spoilers again please) I know that the name of the game is The Legend of Zelda, and from what I've gathered he/she was an ancient hero who defeated Gannon and the darkness he brought, and now that Gannon is returned, Link has to become like the ancient hero Zelda, and defeat Gannon. What am I missing though? I have to be missing something? Right? Thank you.

How to determine what version of OoT (N64) I have? (European Version)

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 02:23 AM PST

I'm looking in to buying an original OoT cartridge for N64, but I really want either version 1.0 or 1.1. I've seen many ways that you can look at the cartridge and determine what version it is from numbers/letters that are written on it. But it doesn't seem to be the same case for European versions. Does anyone know a way to check what version the cartridge is just by looking at it (for European versions)? Thank you in advance :)

Should I get BOTW again but for the switch?

Posted: 30 Dec 2017 08:53 PM PST

When botw first came out I got it on the Wii U because I didn't have a switch yet. I didn't get anywhere near 100% and got stuck on the final fight then took a break from the game. I never finished it on Wii U and I got a switch recently for Christmas and I'm considering buying botw to do a better playthrough, finally beat it, then 100% it. Do u guys think it's worth it?

Majora’s Mask, Great or Hit and Miss?

Posted: 30 Dec 2017 02:04 PM PST

I just completed Majoras mask for the first time and I was wondering what everyone thought of it.

I thought overall it was an incredible game and I think the whole 3 day cycle was a really brave move to make, especially after the success of OoT.

The one thing I would say is that I found it to be the most strangely inconsistent Zelda title in my opinion.

I loved the swamp section and snowhead.

Then I got to great bay and loved the feel of playing as a Zora. Only to be hugely disappointed by the actual gameplay. The great bay temple was a bit meh imo and collecting those bloody Zora eggs was just a chore.

Then on to Stone Tower. I thought the stupid trading sequence with the gibdos beneath the well pre temple was possibly the low point of the game... only for the temple itself to be, I reckon, one of the strongest I've ever played. Until you get to the boss.... who can be dealt with in about 40 seconds.

I then thought that the actual ending was slightly weak... just running to the clock tower and having a rather brief boss battle seemed a little short lived, although I did like the battle and thought all the visuals and imagery were great.

I was just wondering whether people thought the same? I would say the high points of MM were better than the high points of OoT, but overall I definitely found OoT more consistent.

Breath of the Wild Lumniart

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 03:36 AM PST

I got the Breath of the Wild Lumniart for Christmas. It says it is touch on and off activated but I can't turn it off. Does anyone know if it's an auto off feature and then you tap it to turn it back on? Thanks

Was it hard (and worth it) getting all 120 shrines in Breath Of The Wild?

Posted: 30 Dec 2017 03:24 PM PST

I just finished the last of my shrines and I got the set of the wild. Besides maximizing your stamina or hearts, was it worth it?
