A short rant about movement speed Posted: 31 Dec 2017 05:52 AM PST I just started playing Shadow of Mordor, which has a control scheme very similar to that of the Arkham games. Namely, the default movement being a slow walk with a button for sprinting. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing the Arkham games (I haven't really played any of them enough to), and I'm enjoying SoM so far, but I gotta say, this way of handling movement is kind of annoying. I understand that the sprint is too fast to be used all the time, and your character needs to slow down for more precision, but it's just too slow. Plenty of other games that require precise combat have a faster default speed. Kingdoms of Amalur, and Infamous, to name a few, have handled it really well. Why does a slow amble need to be the default? Does anyone have any thoughts on this? [link] [comments] |

FGC enthusiasts, what would you say is best entry point into the genre right now? Posted: 30 Dec 2017 10:10 AM PST As an outsider looking in, I've been very curious about fighting games. Playing at a competent level has always seemed impenetrable to me even with a long history of playing competitive games in other genres closest thing being melee. All the deeper mechanics of this genre seem so foreign to me but I'm absolutely fascinated with the genre and would love to learn more. So here are my questions: What would you say is currently the best entry point game into the genre? (Something easy to pick up and learn the basics but it gets deep when you get further into the competitive aspect) Why do you feel like this the current best entry point and what is special about this game? What keeps you playing long term? Is this game big in the local tournament scene by you? Is the online play good? (Netcode, Rankings, Fun to play, Etc.) What are the best online resources to learn about it? (Websites, Youtube, Etc.) Where do people typically go to discuss this game? (Boards, Subs, Etc.) Thank you for your time. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Dec 2017 10:13 AM PST With data collected from match results postings in the Mario Party Netplay Discord, here are some of the statistics that we obtained: This image shows individual character stats, comparing the most popular characters to the ones with the most skilled users, and also shows overall star and coin counts. This image shows the most popular boards on Mario Party 1-7 (8 and 9 do not have enough data), as well as tables of further individual game statistics. This image shows both the most popular games and the most popular times of the year for users to play. All data was obtained from our extensive (if messy) leaderboard, which tracks data on all of the games played on the Mario Party Netplay Discord [link] [comments] |

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 08:14 AM PST I want to go back and play Ninja Gaiden (1) since I only played it a little on OG Xbox, but I'm not sure if I should play Black on XB1X or Sigma on PS3. I know Sigma has better graphics, an additional weapon, and extra levels, but also loads more, and Black runs at 4K on XB1X. (I don't care about New Game+ since I only want to play through once.) Which do you think is the better version and why? [link] [comments] |
