| Everything you need to know about the Overwatch League (Megathread and FAQ) Posted: 08 Jan 2018 04:57 PM PST Welcome to the Overwatch League! In Season 1, the 12 OWL teams travel to Blizzard Arena in Los Angeles, California to compete in a six-month season. The regular season is broken out into four, five-week stages with a week in-between each stage. Each team will play 40 matches (20 in-division and 20 cross-division) consisting of 4 map sets. Team can earn various performance bonuses totaling $3.5 million, including a $1 million prize for the World Champions of Season 1. TeamsThe Overwatch League is composed of 12 teams split into two divisions: Atlantic and Pacific.
ScheduleRegular Season
PostseasonThe top 8 teams (top 2 from each division, and next 4 with the best record) will make the postseason. The postseason will run 10 days, followed by a three day Grand Final.
All-Star WeekendAug. 10 – 12, 2018

FAQWhere can I watch OWL matches?Currently, matches will be streamed on the main site and MLG.tv. VODs are available on the main site. How do I get those sweet OWL skins on the main menu?As per this video, the home skins for all 12 teams will be available for each of the 26 heroes starting in early 2018. These will be purchased with "League Tokens", a currency only used for in-game OWL content. A portion of the proceeds from OWL content purchases will go directly to the teams. In the first month after launch, players who log in on PS4, XB1, and PC will be given enough tokens to purchases one free skin. How do I rep my favorite team on r/Overwatch?OWL team flairs are available for all 12 teams, in both a traditional and alternative logo. Flair up! | Rein is currently being out-classed by Orisa Posted: 08 Jan 2018 11:11 AM PST Reinhardt had the lowest pickrate of any tank in OWL preseason and there is a reason for this. It is because if you go dive Winston is superior in every way, and if you go deathball Orisa's shield up-time is just vastly greater than Reinhardt's. Reinhardt's shield gets destroyed way too quickly these days, and he has to have his shield down for a full two seconds in order for it to even begin to recuperate. This means a minimum of 4-7 seconds to wait to begin shielding again, and even then, the shield will be less than half hp. Meanwhile, Orisa passively regens her shield cooldown while she is shielding. While you might argue this is the trade-off for having a more mobile shield, the trade-off is actually supposed to be the fact that Orisa can damage and shield at the same time, and has better range. Shield up time should not be the thing sacrificed. These days you just spend 50% of your time as Reinhardt hiding and desperately waiting for your shield to recharge, while your team dies and yells at you for not shielding, because they believe your shield is infinite. Reinhardt needs a small shield regeneration buff. Just remove the delay after dropping shield for it to begin to regen, or give it a flat 10-20% faster regen, whatever needs to be done, to make Rein able to shield as consistently as (not greater than) Orisa. I have actually made a very successful post about this on the forums, but it has not received a developer comment yet, though it currently has 110+ comments and 130+ upvotes. Please, I implore you, go to this forum post and keep it alive on the front page by commenting and upvoting. This will increase its visibility to Jeff and the team, so that they may comment on it if they see it. She seemed genuinely interested, but my first thought was that she probably just found it ridiculous. Professional gamers? About an hour later during a short break in our playing Overwatch that night, I heard voices from the other room. I came in to see her watching a match on her phone. It took me a few tries to get her attention. I later told her what time the first in-season match was, and she's excited to watch it with me. GG, Blizzard and OWL. You get a +1 elim whenever you participate in a kill. Whenever you pop that violet orb all over the point on the lijang tower it touches EVERYBODY on ponint and while you "try" to "do your DPS's job" your mccree gets one kill, soldier gets another and then y'all get wiped, leaving Mccree with one elim, soldier with one elim, and you, the superior carry machine, with the whooping amount of two elims. So no, honey, you are not carrying your dps. THEY are carrying YOUR stats. I realise that moira needs to do damage in order to regain heals, been playing plenty of moira myself. I'm just sick of players bragging about having gold elims "and being a healer here" when all they do is poping the damage orbs and get killed. I'm also aware that there are Moira killing machines eating everybody for breakfast, but let's be honest here, if you say shit like this in the title, it's 95% times not you. During these past 2 days, I've seen others making the same mistake that I have. It really just lowers the teams morale, and I don't think I've truly realized that until now. I never thought these bans would work, until I was hit with one. I know everyone will not have the same reaction I've had to a silence, but it's important because I feel there will be people who realize their mistake and work towards fixing it. | The menu screen needs a Dark Mode Posted: 08 Jan 2018 05:16 AM PST Maybe it's nitpicky and I'm the only one with this problem; but while I do like the new OWL menu screen, it's really bright. I sit in the dark most of the time (reclusive, I know) so I think it'd be nice to have some sort of dark mode that changes the white background to gray/black. This means that it doesn't matter if you hold the arcade boxes and open them tomorrow after the update, you'll still drop only "old" cosmetic items. Edit: to clarify, the items coming on the Blizzard World update are being added to the base lootbox table. They're not event based so you can purchase them by anytime with credits. This tip is just for people who wants to save their boxes to drop the possible new victory poses and etc items right away, since most of veteran players already have all common items, so these will drop very easily when they are added to the drop table (just like when a new hero is added). Honestly, I love highlights. I upvote them myself. The problem imo is that highlights are easily disgestible content. This isnt inherently a bad thing, but I just wish there a larger diversity of content on the overwatch front page.
