My drawing of Enderman.

I wanted to do something different with the output from my mob farm, so I built a sewer that occasionally spit out bones and rotten flesh.

Mojang, please don't turn Minecraft into a completely kiddie game.

Posted: 12 Jan 2018 10:19 PM PST

I am a long time player, and I always liked the game for its simple, yet sophisticated gameplay, and a lot more players would agree that the game is great for the technicality in it. With every small update or even a feature, Minecraft would become more immerse than it already was before, and at the same time, stay a simple open world sandbox game. People have the creativity to build astonishing things, and create amazing machinery, all while trying to survive in a world packed with challenges.

And as much as it appeals to adults, it appeals to children as well. And this is great, because Minecraft teaches them creativity alongside technical thinking, problems solving and even basic maths (for the younger audience), and the list can go on for much longer. But it doesn't at all mean that this games features are going to teach the children immoral and negative lessons, this is an absurdity. Also, it's the parents job to educate their kids, not Minecraft's. Minecraft shouldn't be initially aimed at little children. Minecraft's gameplay shouldn't be fully affected by real world circumstances, it just ruins the game. And adding complicity will immerse the game experience, so that people will not run out of things to do.

Please don't simplify the game.

EDIT: For the protocol, I don't think Minecraft shouldn't be a kids game, I am just saying that this fact does not require making changes or adding features that make the game boring and/or unchallenging.

Glitterhoof: The Prank

Posted: 13 Jan 2018 12:04 PM PST

My friend has recently delighted our server with a prank on my base.

The madness is best seen here: https://imgur.com/a/cLm8s

It's an incredible build...and...how do I respond to this exactly?

This was built entirely in survival, including resource gathering. Some outside planning but survival for goodness sake!

TIL: When adding vines on rocky cliffs, use ores to make it look like there are berries behind it.

Bats don't do anything, yet...

Posted: 13 Jan 2018 06:45 AM PST

I'm happy with how bats are currently, but I think they could be useful in a way they aren't now. What I've always wanted to see was bats drop an item, like "fang" or "bat's fang" or "fang of the bat". You get what I'm saying. Then you would use this item in brewing and it would give you a potion of life steal. This could work in a couple different ways.

  1. Whomever the effect is applied to will receive health from dealing damage.
  2. When thrown the effected target takes damage (over time or in a single burst) which is given as health to the thrower.
  3. In some way that someone smarter than me can figure out.

Especially with the potion tipped arrows, I think this would be cool.
