Is it sad that as a PC player, I would have been happier if they just ported Destiny 1 on PC instead of Destiny 2?

Posted: 10 Jan 2018 05:31 AM PST

I only have a 360 and a PC, so when they dropped last gen, I just had to hope that the game would eventually come to PC. Obviously, it didn't, but Destiny 2 would fix all of my problems, right? I'm sure you can see where this is going. I honestly think that if they released Destiny 1 for a full $60 again, I probably would've rebought it instead of buying Destiny 2.

Personally the only thing that would bring me back to the game is improvements to the sandbox. SRL? Less items in eververse? Those won't bring me back. We need more of a grind, and less casualization. When everybody is special, no one is.

Let's dish! WHAT DO THE NUMBERS MEAN MASON?!

Edit: Additionally dmg04 also responded to criticism about the next upcoming event Crimson Days:

While Crimson Days is confirmed, we'll have more details on how it's changing based on community feedback collected throughout the Dawning.

Looking to have some info for you soon - Thursday in particular.

Stay tuned.

After Mayhem, doing solo Call to Arms felt like pulling teeth.

Posted: 10 Jan 2018 05:12 AM PST

Every other game was a group of 4 Navy SEALS with 15000000 trials wins. Is that all that's left these days? At least with Mayhem I could play solo and have fun.

This game doesn't need more RNG with Random Rolls. The game needs Depth.

Posted: 10 Jan 2018 07:30 AM PST

I hold, and will always continue to hold, that RNG isn't the way.

I think instead they should overhaul the Mod system and make it meaningful. The game needs depth and customization, not random grind.

Towerthought: Bungie’s take on Random Rolls is to reskin the same gun a dozen times with different/static perks rather than the same single gun getting its own dynamic perk pool.

Posted: 10 Jan 2018 12:49 AM PST

Lots of talk of reskins and then it hit me- this is bungies version of dynamic perk rolls. Take the same gun, rename it, slash a new coat of paint on it, give it different perks.

Man quickplay is so damn boring now.

Posted: 10 Jan 2018 07:41 AM PST

Especially after playing Mayhem which was tons of fun.

Not only does it take forever to find a single fucking match playing in Japan with a fraction of the player base compared to areas like the US or UK, but when I actually get into one, it's of course against a full sweaty ass 4-stack wearing the same shitty emblems against me and 3 randoms, 2 of who are levels 6 and 17, with under-leveled gear and a half-filled class skill tree.

G fucking G, Bungie. Guess this is the "balanced" and "fun" PvP you imagined in D2. Must be even worse in Competitive.

This game has the fundamentals and all the potential in the world, yet it's such a shame how a company can obliterate their own product because of a few people who just have no clue how to balance out all these PvP issues like weapon metas and SBMM that have existed since like...3 years ago.

Mistake in the naming of one Lost Sector boss

Posted: 10 Jan 2018 07:42 AM PST

Hello Guardians, in this post I want to present some points that make me believe that Bungie made a mistake in naming Primus Cal'aug, the boss of The Conflux in Nessus, a Primus.

Some background info before we delve into the main meat of the theory.

First, Red Legion Cabal that wear gold colored armor are officers. Main examples are the Infiltration and Excavation Valuses from public events, Thumos as he can be seen leading Cabal forces into the City, Infiltrator Psions who are subordinate to the Valus, named soldiers such as Lurg The Flaming Shield who commands an anti taken strike force on Io, etc.

Secondly, Blood Guard troops serve as Imperial Guard for Ghaul and other important VIPs such as the Consul and Thumos. They can be identified by their mostly red armor, spiky shoulder pads and crested wings on their back.

Third, Primus is the highest position that a Cabal officer can achieve on a Legion. It is a highly venerated and respected position, and individual Primuses have their own personal marks of honor and custom armor. We know this from D1.

Fourth and finally, and this is a personal theory of mine. Planetary activities, strikes, Crucible and adventures take place after the main story is completed.

It doesnt make sense that the Crucible would be active with Guardians lacking light and the ability to rez, Zavala wouldnt authorize strikes and willingly send Guardians to their lightless deaths (some strikes like Zavathun's Song and The Arms Dealer cant work without the story being completed), there cant be Public Events if there is no beacon network established (which Cayde asks us to do near the end of the campaign), etc.

Bungie probably didnt want to limit these activites for players who had not beaten the story, so this is a case of story and gameplay segregation.

So, taking into account this info, lets get into the main reasons why I consider Cal'aug as being mistakenly named Primus, when he was meant to be a Bracus or a Valus.

1) Cal'Aug looks exactly like the Excavation Valus. As established in the points above, Primuses usually have their own unique looks and additions to their armor. The Cabal are a species that value honor and tradition. I dont believe that the Red Legion, which is the proudest and most pompous of all legions, would treat their Primuses with less respect than the Scout Legions encountered on D1. You can bet that the true Primus has grand and impressive looks, as is the norm for the Red Legion.

2) Cal'Aug has pathetic security protecting him/her. Important Red Legion VIPs have Blood Guard bodyguards protecting them, Cal'Aug has none.

Most important targets that we have taken out are usually located in extremely fortified positions. Thumos and Ghaul were very hard to get to, even Bracus Zahn has a small army protecting him, with a couple of tanks and threshers thrown in the mix.

Why would the Primus which is second only to Ghaul in military leadership of the Legion, be located in a random ass lost sector with no elite troopers and no fortifications of any kind protecting it?

This makes even less sense if you ascribe to my theory that Lost Sectors occur after the main story. The Primus would be one of the prime candidates to assume control of the Legion after Ghaul's death. Why would the Legion permit their new potential leader to leave a highly fortified base or ship without appropriate security?

3) There are no story implications for taking out this "Primus". No character even mentions it.

One would think that the Vanguard would be completely ecstatic at the mere opportunity of taking out such a valuable target, considering the complex operation that was put into place for taking out Zahn. But nope. This potentially important story point is left to a Lost Sector, which most players wont bother doing.

These details tell me that Cal'Aug was not meant to be a Primus, and either Bungie made a typo or Lost Sector bosses have their names chosen by a name genetator, and no one did a double check to see if this was correct.

The lore for D2 so far has been consistent with D1 and has left me satisfied and eager for more, but I felt that this was a mistake that had to be pointed out. Hopefully we get to see the actual Primus on a future strike or mission. I want to know who is in control of the Red Legion after we killed the Domimus.

For those who joined the Destiny universe in Destiny 2, let me tell you a little story about Exotic weapon quests in D1...

Posted: 10 Jan 2018 09:40 AM PST

You see, when Rise of Iron launched in fall 2016 we had a new raid called "Wrath of the Machine." It was pretty cool. You got to pick up and throw SIVA bombs at bosses and such. It was a new mechanic that added a nice wrinkle to the typical shooting mechanics we get. But I digress...

During the initial runs of WotM, people found these monitors that could be activated. At the end of the raid, after beating the boss, a secret room opened up that had a chest in it, but it was guarded by lasers. We found out that there was another chest hidden somewhere that had to be found to get us past the lasers.

As it turns out, this fourth monitor was hidden behind what can only be called the most elaborate binary puzzle this community has ever seen. There was a section of the raid that had a giant diamond in the middle with canisters surrounding it. The canisters were divided into 4 sections that had columns and rows. In the previous room, there were two monitor screens that had binary codes displayed once activated, and the two people in that room had to call out their codes for the 4 players in the canister room. Players would jump onto the canister that corresponded to the column and row called out. Once all correct canisters were stood on by the 4 players, the diamond room opened and revealed the mysterious 4th monitor and an exotic chest that gave you a special emblem for completing the task. Now you could beat the raid and get the 5th chest open at the end. (Props to Math Class, btw)

But wait!! It's not over! You didn't even get the exotic weapon yet! You got the QUEST!

That's right. Now you had to go out into the game world and complete tasks like a nightfall, public events, crucible matches, etc. Then, with a fireteam that consisted of 3 people using one of each class, you had to synchronize something called a SIVA engine that also used math sequences. I'll spare you the additional details that follow, but you essentially had to do this two more times, and then you were rewarded with exotic pulse rifle "Outbreak Prime," which happened to be very effective in the Wrath of the Machine raid, particularly against the first boss encounter.

To be honest, it was pretty crazy, convoluted, and even difficult to execute in some ways. But HOLY CRAP was it all worth it. It was fun. It was worthwhile. It was rewarding. I will never forget the two guardians I did all of that extra stuff with, or the raid team I helped get theirs done. And let me tell you... the entire community was in on this. The WHOLE subreddit ate this up. We LOVED finding stuff like this.

So yeah... If you're new to Destiny, you might see some of us yelling at Bungie that we miss this stuff, hopefully this helps explain why. And this wasn't a one-off. There were others... like Thorn, Black Spindle, and Sleeper Simulant. Obtaining those weapons MEANT something. If you saw a guardian with them, you KNEW they worked hard for them and went through experiences to get them.

And boy... we miss that.

Ikoras Resolve (ship) should be a reward.

Posted: 10 Jan 2018 08:32 AM PST

This is one of the coolest ships in the game to date imo. It is soul crushing that it's locked behind eververse at 2000 silver dust. This should be a strike reward, or an eater of worlds reward, or even just in the loot pool for ikoras meditations. When I put on a ship, I want people to look and know that "hey, that guy did thing X".

It's an amazing ship, and unless I shell out 10 dollars, I will likely never get it. Feels bad Bungie.

Last week I got 5 exotics, all were repeat gauntlets. All of them.

Posted: 10 Jan 2018 09:52 AM PST

And sadly I was excited every single time I got an exotic until the last one. I got the last one and told my fire team, as a joke "watch this be another gauntlet" sure enough it was, in-fact it was the exact one and power lvl that I had equipped at the time. Which was the second time it happened with in the week.

I'm confused. I have a lot of exotics left to unlock in other categories. I'm not 335, but my gauntlets have been 335 since last reset. So why did I only receive gauntlet exotics? And why did I only receive repeat exotics?

D2 Gold Cosmos Ghost Shell Drawing! With 24ct gold leaf

Posted: 10 Jan 2018 06:12 AM PST

If the second DLC update actually arrives in May (rumoured). Can you see the game/community surviving?

Posted: 10 Jan 2018 04:22 AM PST

We all know of the issues with the game at the moment, but if we have to wait until May for any significant 'new' content, do you think anyone will be left to play?.

The only thing which I could see which would keep the existing players involved until May is an almost total flip on a lot of the core systems in the game, which I really really cannot see Bungie doing.

What do you think Bungie would need to alter to keep people playing?

When season 2 Iron banana drops make season 1 weapons drop as post game rewards

Posted: 10 Jan 2018 05:47 AM PST

Seriously make this a thing bungie. When Iron banananananana starts back up in season 2 (hopefully next week or the week after) make season 1 weapons drop as post game rewards. This will keep the loot pool from becoming diluted and also help get some of the weapons that were missed out on last season (and help with the salt from duplicates).

Would this community have been more satisfied if Destiny 2 had been a $60 expansion?

Posted: 09 Jan 2018 08:01 PM PST

Interested to hear thoughts, mine below.

Destiny 1 was never ugly, the engine it was built on reportedly had some crippling flaws and was hard to work with but Bungie was able to make something really special over the three years we played. With that in mind I would have gladly sacrificed some upgraded graphics for old raid content, PVP, story missions, MY GUNS/ARMOR ETC.

Having a sequel based model takes what we all expect out of the 10 year Destiny plan and instead breaks it up into a couple years of different games.

I think a comparison to WOW is warranted here in that for the longest time all of their content was available whether you came in on day one or day 5000.

Really interested to hear some thoughts.

Calus grenades only kill via Aeon Soul Gloves (6 warlocks)

So the idea is fairly simple. the benefit to Aeon gloves for warlocks is, you get grenade energy back when throwing grenades. This is similar in tier to how rat king works with 6 people but fortunately, we were able to find a way to use it well enough where it didn't massively hinder performance.

In a quick test, we determined that the gloves effect is more optimal when each person throws a grenade in a created order rather than all at once. When throwing all at once, you'll each get a bit of a return in regards to your grenade energy. However, it won't be anywhere near enough to throw another grenade.

Instead we came up with a quick line system where each person would be a number in a line and we would have an order to throw a grenade. By doing this you increase the amount of "buff" you get back to your grenade energy significantly to what you would get if all guardians through at once.

As seen in the video, you get a number 1 through 6, each person then throws their grenade and calls their number, then the next person does the same and so on until all 6 people have thrown. If done correctly, you should be able to get all 6 grenades off AND also refilled guardian #1's grenade which means the chain can just be restarted all over again with everyone having a grenade to throw.

Essentially what this did was let you be able to throw a grenade on each plate during calus DPS for every person rather than the normal method where you would throw one and then be a sitting duck for an hour while your 2nd charge came back.

Overalll this wasn't the most "exciting" challenge as we were hoping for the aeon effect to be a little more...explosive but perhaps it'll be a bit more challenging to do on Argos.

The EOW RAID

Posted: 10 Jan 2018 06:13 AM PST

I must say I really enjoy this raid, it's simple but technical, easy to learn with a few hours practice.

I enjoy the mechanics, the colours, the lighting effects, it's a raid you feel you have achieved something because you took the time to learn it but it's not so difficult that your pulling your hair out 3 hours later because one person just isn't getting it spot on.

Don't get me wrong I have no idea what the story is supposed to be. I could follow them on D1 but how on earth there is a big vex thing with lights you have to shoot on some random ship I have no idea 😂

Posted: 10 Jan 2018 11:06 AM PST

Of course this isn't perfected as this pulls from Destiny 1's perks, but having a endgame content reward certain weapon mods that you can apply would have kept me doing the raids and nightfalls a lot longer. Nameless Midnight
