The companions are evil

Posted: 04 Dec 2017 09:58 PM PST

Am I the only one who thinks the companions seem a bit evil? First of all they are basically glorified mercenaries. In order to be high ranking amongst the companions you have to become a werewolf. Which is a bad thing when a big part of your organization is that no member is forced into anything. Once you become one, you can go on a rampage killing the people of whiterun. Instead of condemning it, they joke about it, saying that you gave them more trouble than skjor did. The way they speak of their lycanthropy also sounds pretty evil. They talk about how it is a gift, and that anyone who doesn't appreciate it is a fool. It even goes as far as aela initially refusing to cure the harbingers lycanthropy against his dying wish. that sounds like generic power hungry villain talk to me. Not only that, but they know how it would look to everyone else, so they keep it a secret from even they're own members. They make the silver hand look like the bad guys, but really they are just like the dawnguard or the vigilants of stendarr. What the silver hand sees is a power hungry, violent group of mercenaries that hide in plain sight and endanger everyone around them. This is made even worse by the fact that there is a theory that the silver hand is composed of ex companions that went against them once they realized they had become werewolves. All throughout the quest line I got the feeling these people where evil and I'm surprised more people didn't think the same.

Anyone else here loves getting lost in wilderness while blasting skyrim's ost?

Why is the modding community so alive in Skyrim?

Posted: 05 Dec 2017 12:39 AM PST

It truly is one of the biggest and strongest communities I have ever seen! Beyond skyrim, skyblivion, skywind, etc. There are a ton of big mods being made and development seems to never stop! Why is it like this for skyrim and not for other more modern games afterall skyrim was released in 2011?

This kettle has always baffled me; a trap set purely to be a dick to travelers, this kettle is the garnish added for extra pettiness

Anyone else play Skyrim for escapism?

Posted: 04 Dec 2017 12:49 PM PST

As someone who struggles with depression I think this game is amazing. I find it so hard to put the controller down once I've started playing, there's so much shit to do it never gets boring. Just wanted to see if there's anyone on here like me.

TIL: Early concept art of the Falmer seems to indicate they enjoy stealing Nord babies

First (kinda) time playing

Posted: 05 Dec 2017 05:07 AM PST

I bought Skyrim for the first time back in 2012 for my Xbox 360. My English wasn't very good back then and without a translation, I gave up a couple hours later. Fast forward to 2017, I bought the SE for PS4 on a Black Friday sale and I´m amazed by this game. 40 hours in so far and barely touched on the main quests. I have to travel for work next week and I wish I had a Switch with Skyrim to keep playing. Silly post, I know, but just wanted to share my happiness with this game with you guys.

Whenever I hear the song "The Dragornborn Comes", I put myself in the shoes of someone who lived in that world, at that time. When I do this, the music is so much more profound. To those whos world that was, that song must have been incredibly deep for them.

EDIT: Grammar, you know what i mean ;)

Become Ethereal tip

You can use this shout to jump from steep cliffs. It makes traversing difficult terrain a worry of the past. Jumping off the Throat of the World is something every dragonborn should try.

Being able to play Skyrim in bed is great, but I miss my mods.

I can't shake the feeling of incompleteness. Did anybody else get the Switch version and has similar feelings of melancholy?
