| Getting an S-Grade in ARAM is way too hard Posted: 16 Dec 2017 06:01 AM PST Hey guys, I might speak for a very small communitiy, but nevertheless i want to address this little problem. It's way too hard getting an S (and with the S the chest) in Aram. As you can see here as a player that almost only plays ARAM I sit on 15 keys and no chests. Also, as you can see, the problem is not me going 0-10 every game. Going 13-3-18 with most damage dealt in the game gets you a B+... Right after his release, Thresh's empowered AA passive was moved from his Q to his E to force him to sacrifice hook cooldown if he wanted the increase in damage. As it is now, if Ornn presses W, you CANNOT trade with him. It would be a simple way to take some power out of his W and spread it across the rest of his kit. It has been 2 years since my last AMA and in light of this crazy off-season, I feel like now is the time to do another. For those who are relatively new to the scene, I have had a wonderful career managing multiple teams since season 1. SK,G2, Dignitas, SNS (LD) and most recently Misfits to name a few. | Theory about Demacia, Noxus, and the Darkin Posted: 16 Dec 2017 05:04 AM PST With the upcoming Swain rework, his snippet of lore in the Universe page changed to this: "Swain is the Grand General of Noxus, visionary ruler of an expansionist nation that reveres only strength. Though he was cast down and crippled in the Ionian wars, he seized control of the empire with ruthless determination. Now, Swain commands his warhosts from the front lines, marching against a coming darkness that only he can see. In a swirl of sacrifice and secrets, the greatest secret of all is that the true enemy lies within." This had me wondering. What is this coming darkness, and why should Swain know or care about them? He could be referring to the Void, but why should Swain and Noxus care about them, personally? So while I was at his page, I noticed Noxus crest. Looks pretty neat, a face in a battleaxe, but it reminded me of a certain someone. Anyway, this might be a coincidence, right? So I got curious and searched around for the earliest appearance of this new crest, and I'm fairly sure that it was in Riven's splash art, it's also reaaally worn out. The second appearance is in Sion's teaser. Before that, the only Noxus symbol was this weird thingy that China used to label each of they servers. Riven's updated splash art was on 18/3/2013. Aatrox was released on 13/6/2013. Again, pretty cool, but might be a mere coincidence. So let's go deeper. Some of you might know that the whole updated Summoner's Rift map symbolizes the Protectorate and Magelords war, there's even a cracked carving in the map symbolizing that they must've been allies before this war, something something crystals but that's not the point here. Also there's a faint carving of Aatrox on a rock at top lane, this will be important later on. It has been theorized that they were the ancestors of Demacia and Noxus. This has gained credibility with the Demacia's lore update since they hate magic and the name "Mage lords" is a pretty obvious indicator that they had heavy magic weaponry. Also, the Protectorate side is blue and their towers paladins, the Magelord side is red and their towers are mages. The point is, they're related to Aatrox's lore. "Just when all hope seemed lost, Aatrox appeared among the ranks of the Protectorate. With but a few words, he urged the soldiers to fight to the last before throwing himself into battle. His presence inspired the desperate warriors. At first, they could only watch in awe as this unknown hero cleaved through their enemies, his body and blade moving in unison as if one being. Soon, the warriors found themselves imbued with a potent thirst for battle. They followed Aatrox into the fray, each fighting with the furious strength of ten until they had won a most unlikely victory. Aatrox vanished after that battle, but the Protectorate army's newfound fury did not. Their surprising triumph led to many more until they were able to finally return home victorious. Their countrymen hailed them as heroes, but though they had saved their entire civilization from destruction, darkness lingered in the mind of each warrior. Something within them had changed. Over time, their memories of battle faded, only to be replaced with a grim revelation: their acts of heroism were, in fact, brutal atrocities committed by their own hands." Now, Galio's updated lore mentions the founding of Demacia, and why they hate magic nowadays: "Galio's inception began in the aftermath of the Rune Wars, when refugees across the lands fled from the destructive power of magic. Some say that in the west of Valoran, a band of these displaced people were pursued by a vicious band of dark mages. Exhausted from days without rest, the refugees hid among the shadows of an ancient, petrified forest. The sorcerers that pursued them suddenly found their magic to be ineffective in the strange woods. It seemed the fossilized trees were a natural magic-dampener, and any sorcery used within them would simply fizzle upon casting. No longer helpless, the refugees turned their swords on the dark mages and drove them from the land. Some decided that this sanctuary from magic was a gift from the gods, others saw it as a fair reward for their terrible journey, but all agreed that this should be their new home." Sides aren't clearly described here, but it mentions sorcerers and a side that's been losing for a while. Let's assume this was the battle Aatrox fought in. Maybe Aatrox wasn't the sole factor that won them the battle, maybe they viewed the battle they fought as a butchery because magelords couldn't defend themselves without magic, the lore is kind of messy right now so let's go on. Aatrox was first teased in this board post. There were board posts explaining each item further, but let's focus on three. This stained glass is from Demacia. It is blue, looks like Justicar Aatrox, and is probably how Aatrox appeared to them in the battle against the Mage Lords(If this theory is true, of course). Ezreal mentions that nobody knows who it is, but it's safe to say that Aatrox was an important for Demacia's history somehow. Aatrox lore mentions that the memories of the battle have faded over time, and maybe Aatrox swooping in to save Demacia at the last moment was dismissed by skeptics. Still, the stained glass is there and it's the only example where he's shown as an angelic being instead of a demon. Now to the second ones. This noxian statuette and the Noxian war poems book. Aatrox is rocking the usual demon look here, so this would be how he appeared to the Mage Lords during the battle, and the Noxian war poem book mentions this. "A great warrior - that's right, our dark figure - appears in the battle. The arrogant general's enemies, men on the verge of death, are inspired by his presence. "They rose from their knees as though he'd lit their very blood aflame", it says. "The shamed general watched as his men were cleaved by an army that had begged for mercy just moments before. His enemies had become murderers and butchers. As they closed on him, the general could not be certain whether they were still men at all." This teaser ties Noxus and Demacia into the war mentioned in Aatrox lore. Now let's fast forward a little. Not much is said about the origin of Darkins, I think it's safe to assume that they aren't gods of war just wanting to fuck things up whenever they want, but a group with a common objective in mind. So let's check his lore out. First important thing on Varus univese page. "You didn't destroy us all. And that mistake will be your undoing." Who is "you", in this case? The mage lords, ancestors of Noxus. The mage lords started destroying and/or imprisoning the Darkin after the first battle against the Protectorate, and the first one must've been Aatrox, hence the "fall" Varus mentions in his lore. Now this might be a stretch and maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the crest could either symbolize Aatrox imprisoned (The iron bars around his "head") or his head impaled in a spike, and they have used this victory against Aatrox as a symbol of their strength, that's why this is used as their crest nowadays. At any rate, I think the similarity is intended. And now that Varus is loose he's targetting Noxus soldiers and looking for his sister, which must be still imprisoned in Noxus. He might also cross paths with Kayn while he's at it since they're both in Ionia now, and I suppose they must feel a connection between them somehow. I mean, there's 5 of them, they're immortal demon beings and Runeterra is pretty big and has no wi-fi, so they must have some way to communicate, right? I'm not even sure if pigeons are a thing in Runeterra. Tl;dr: Swain knows about the Darkin, and knows that they're coming back to exact revenge. The Noxian crest was created as a symbol of the Darkin defeat or something. EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED GODDAMNIT Edit: Just remembered something else: On Rhaast's login, he's shown attacking Noxus. | Profanity Filter for custom item sets is out of control! Posted: 16 Dec 2017 06:35 AM PST Hey there summoners, I am not sure if anyone else has noticed this or not but when creating a custom item set the profanity filter that riot has set up is censoring out of control. Example 1: A common title for your final build would be "Full Build". The profanity filter finds the "Fu" in Full to be offensive and it is censored. Example 2: A category of champions that even Riot uses in-game is Assassins, but if you try to use the word Assassin in the custom item set feature it becomes one giant string of stars. | Getting a champ shard from a hextech chest feels so...Meh Posted: 16 Dec 2017 04:32 AM PST Before they were rerollable now they are just blue essence and it doesn't feel exciting especially with how long i wait to get keys and what not. IT's not the shard itself i guess..but the long wait to getting a key then it being a champ shard. I wouldn't mind more emotes even. That's something I normally wouldn't spend rp on or ward skins i know other people like them i think they are cool just not worth the money to me. Get enough champ shards from leveling up, it's a nice steady source as long as you play often enough. I really like the chest system, but as long as it takes to open one...can i get like a champ and an emote? plz..
