Please improve DH's Longbow in PVE

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 03:11 PM PST

I have seen so many people level a Guardian, just wanting to play Longbow, then get disappointed because the weapon is extremely underwhelming in PVE. DH's Longbow is already a bit lacking in AoE potential, so at least give it decent single target damage. Maybe not meta-level, just need to feel a bit more satisfying after firing a long charging shot.

gift of PoF was fraudulent, beware

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 04:37 AM PST

Someone gave me a code for PoF when I said what I wanted for Xmas. I asked where they got it from and they said "g2a". I wasn't confident that the code was ok, so I emailed Anet yesterday with the code and asked them was it ok to use this code. I got an email back just now which states, "Thank you for contacting us.

Please be informed that G2A is an unauthorized reseller of Guild Wars 2 expansion serial codes. The Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire Serial Code was initially purchased from https://buy.guildwars2.com/en/. Through normal purchase reviews, our payment processor discovered that the serial code was acquired through a fraudulent purchase. I strongly suggest that you contact them and request for a refund and do not ask a replacement serial code, as we have found such codes generally are fraudulent, as well.

If you have any other question or concern, please let us know."

Obviously I wont be using the code, and I've let the person who bought me the gift know to let g2a know. This is very disappointing and embarrassing, but I wanted everyone to know and beware. I believe my genuine account could have been in danger if I had of used the code given to me.

Suggestion: Zoom option for 'Wardrobe' window

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 09:29 AM PST

Althought it doesn't really influence the game, choosing your wardrobe ends up being a big part of a player's gameplay and I think we've all been in a scenario where we end up looking at this window for several minutes trying to figure out which piece is the best one.
Again, not really game-breaking or even fundamental but it ends up being a big deal.
This is why I suggest that players should be allowed to zoom in in the Wardrobe window so that the choice of the transmutation is done with more clarity.

The Importance of Secret Toymaker

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 07:59 AM PST

I want to share my Story to the community so that some people will understand why something as Secret Toymaker might actually be more important than most could think.

At the beginning of the month, when the new application window for Secret Toymaker opened, I decided as always to adhere. It was time to write my personal request message and I didn't want to share too much of my situation to the receiver, because I didn't want to sound like a beggar or sadden them.

At that moment I was in another country's hospital, close to my brother who was dealing with cancer for almost 2 years. His familiy traveled a lot and eventually ended up there, far away from home, but just after some months of work he was diagnosed choriocarcinoma, a very rare form of cancer that usually can be diagnosed in a good way and cured. Unfortunately, this was not my brother's case.

His life expectancy was already of just days when he was hospitalized during Christmas of 2015, the worst holidays I've ever experienced. Back to this year, when I applied for the Secret Toymaker, I just wrote that I wanted something brighter to go through darker days, which was unfortunately very close to the reality but without any specific burden to the receiver.

My brother, in mid-thirties, fought for 2 years going through chemiotherapies, surgeries and when everything was tried, he was waiting for the last attempt at a specific experimental immunotherapy when I visited him. He was able to attend and try that therapy, but medics told us it was already too late and there were no hopes left to recover.

After 2 weeks, last Sunday, he left us and we brought him back to our hometown.

The role I decided to play in this whole situation is the one who could stand up when others couldn't, especially for my relatives. I never weeped nor went through total despair in what is a very dark moment and I am still trying to bring through the same smile he shared with us before the sickness and even after that. He was still joking in his last days, giving us courage in his hospital bed and letting us know that he had no regrets in his ambitious life. He worked a lot in bars and pubs, then reached the top by going into important roles in high-class hotels and always travelled as you can expect from the very lively and bright bartender you might meet in your local town.

My brother was the one who gave me my passion for videogames and he fueled that when he bought the first PlayStation with the newly released Tekken 3 for Christmas years ago. We played together for years, and I will never forget when we played together MediEvil and commented about it, excited and happy to share the same hobby. He eventually did not play very much, but I never left that passion which he taught to me. I eventually played other online games and for 5 years I'm still running through Tyria, where new and old online friends are still with me, sharing this experience which goes far and beyond simple gameplay.

I tried to bring my brother's smile with me, the one we had when we played together and that I had playing with my online friends. When we went through the days after his death, however, I knew it was a grieving one, the one that you recognize is not really happy when you cover the mouth and only observe the eyes.

Finally, yesterday, I logged in Guild Wars 2, where I found a new mail. It was my Secret Toymaker with a personal in-character message that gave me gifts that could go through darker days, all themed to the brightness that I asked weeks before and that were mostly represented by the beautiful Azimuth Staff. In that moment, from a place I wasn't expecting, I got back that sincere smile that I shared with my brother. I was not crying, I was not grieving: I was just smiling heartfully for the simple gesture and thinking how something like Secret Toymaker helped me go through such a dark time.

The first thing I did afterwards was to login at https://secrettoymaker.com/ and fullfill the request I received, which I gladly did, staying in-character and bright. Then, I thanked my Secret Toymaker which was online letting him know what I am telling you: the importance of the Secret Toymaker.

After a few hours, I received another mail from his sister which was moved and gifted me even more. I was astonished since I want to highlight that I did not ask for something more. It was another heartfelt gesture coming from just the desire to share.

As I said, I am the one who is choosing to be the shoulder for my relatives in such situation and obviously I am not asking anything in return, but it is indeed hard to go through. I could never immagine that the first bright smile I could get was coming from a voluntary gesture in a videogame that I use to have fun and distract myself sometimes.

Finally, I want to thank /u/RandommUser, /u/nightzirch and every Secret Toymaker out there and let you know that even something simple like this can have a huge impact on someone's day, much more than you can expect.

Merry Wintersday!

Sindrener - Best of 2017 Thief SPVP

Guild wars 2 community... please, never change! Made my night!

To my Secret Toymaker, Hale Firstmoon <3

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 08:25 AM PST

If somebody knows he/she, please let help me reach out to them!

I participated in the Secret Toymaker assuming people wouldn't give at all, but I think I've once again severely underestimated just how nice the Guild Wars 2 community can be. (Of course, I didn't participate just so I wouldn't give either)

When prompted to ask what I wanted, I wrote half-ass: "I want a bow that can shoot rainbow ponies! :D" and on the day of the gift exchange, I actually freaking received The Dreamer's precursor - The Lovers from Hale Firstmoon!

I was truly - and very pleasantly - surprised that someone would actually do this. Needless to say I woke up to a very heartwarming day. And so I gave myself a task: TO FINISH THE BOW BEFORE CHRISTMAS EVE! (Afterall, it is for Christmas right?)

And so I did, after grinding like crazy the entire day, exhausting all of my financial resources - I did it: https://imgur.com/a/pZDas

Finally, if you've read this far, I would like to take this chance to wish you all a very merry Christmas Eve. :)

And to my secret toymaker: thank you so much! You're awesome; stay awesome. The world's a better place with you in it. ;)

Bug: When you hold right click (or left for that matter) and move the mouse over the map, and scroll, the map zooms instead of the camera

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 06:23 AM PST

Hello fellow Tyrians! A friend and me, we've had this issue since the beginning, and I never read anything about it. Recently decided to contact the customer support, and they think it may be a hardware issue, which I don't think. So I wanted to know if others have the problem too! It's easiest to reproduce by putting the mouse pointer just above the minimap, then holding right click, and moving it down a bit, so it would be over the map if it was still visible. If you then scroll in/out, the map zooms, instead of the camera.

This happens to me a lot during intense fights, and then it bothers me quite a bit.

Thanks :D

Mount prices

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 04:15 PM PST

I just did the quest for Springer mount and I had to pay 5 gold to buy it. Why is it 1 gold for some players? Even the wikia said it would only cost 1 gold.

Gem Store Gifting

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 04:13 PM PST

I want to gift someone something as a Secret Santa from the gift store, so I can't ask if they already have it. If I try to buy them something they have, will it tell me? Or give them the option to collect the gems?

How is GW2 pvp?

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 11:55 AM PST

I was really excited for GW2 pvp at launch but for whatever reason it didn't scratch my itch. But I'm hearing good things and I have time during the break.

But I'm unfamiliar with GW2 pvp in its current state.

For a guy who usually enjoys open world high risk/reward pvp OR laddering arenas and 2v2s OR wagered Dueling, what does GW2 have to offer?

I am also worried when people say it's templates with no sense of progression?

Can we still obtain the rift stabilizer?

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 04:08 PM PST

I'm trying to get my hands on as much of the season 3 content as possible and something I missed the most were the side stories. There's part of the side stories where we can get a Rift Stabilizer, as detailed in this wiki article. I've already done the anomalies part and sadly been cured from seeing the sad anomalies (I liked them!).

The thing is, I've been waiting around Gillscale Pond for an hour and no rifts have shown up. Running around the Fields of Ruin I did find one other rift but it seemed bugged (it didn't spawn any elementals though the event was telling me to kill them).

So, even after googling I have no idea what I'm doing wrong or if I can even still do this. I would appreciate any help.

"Spoiler" Missing audio in cutscenes ?

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 11:07 AM PST

Quest: Buried Inside

Area: When Scruffy connects the lay lines

Issue: Missing voices on cutscene

Quest: Prisoners of the Dragon (I don't recall if this was the exact one, but it may be worth checking it)

Area: Before assaulting the camp where the vines / and other scenes in general during the quest where audio overlaps.

Issue: Missing voices on cutscene

There was another cinematic last night without audio before this one, if i recall correctly it's where Eir got killed by Faolain / Mordrem (in the expansion too), i tought it was just a bug by entering as a party so we just moved on, but now it happened again and i was alone in the quest area.

Specialization

Posted: 23 Dec 2017 07:37 PM PST

Hi, I'm thinking about give this game another try. I saw that with the new expansion classes now have specializations. What's this mean? It's like a revamp of the class that you actually get in the beginning or it just add a few skills?
