Saw a pattern in Niko's demos and why he can't play his style vs SK Posted: 16 Dec 2017 06:27 AM PST Niko gets a lot of criticism for not playing good vs SK. Even when he plays good he isn't fragging like he does vs Liquid last night. I always watch Niko demos and also SK and I've noticed a trend. Going over the demos, this is what I've learned over 50+ maps.
During spray commitments the best you can do is spray 1 player, have complete certainty of their kill and then spray transfer to another. Your aim reset rate is higher, control is less, you kill less people in more time unless they are lined up and the only advantage you have is assurance that your initial target will be prioritized however it leaves you open to getting traded. You also try to peak the enemy 1 at a time instead of balls out palace to stair + jungle + ct Niko peaks when he starts hitting the taps. When Niko starts "feeling it" at the start of the map it is because he peeked 2+ players, tap fired without committing a spray to the first target and tap found out that the enemy doesn't have it in them to take him on even on 2v1 situations as long as he's fast enough. He gets confident that the enemy wont have the skill/communication to trade him in the time it takes him to land the taps + his strafe style and that he can catch batches of players off guard. In SK's case lets look at a map they are horrible at (Inferno). When Fallen goes to AWP at Banana he even accounts for the missed shot for which Fer is there to cover him from the time it took him to fire the first shot to scope into the second, when he goes to balcony Taco does the same. They even account for the time of unscoped AWP milliseconds, to not get caught off guard. This "deer in the headlights" routine makes it impossible to get caught with their pants down. The same happens with Cold and Taco and Fallen and Cold. They have this intertwined web of "team ups" within the team structure that makes it possible to not get the mini team up flashed or get multi-killed without one of them being the "deer in the headlights". So when he faces Coldzera, Fer and Fallen they do not let players stand and get multi kills on their "mini teammates" within the team. Boltz and Taco don't land that insta head shot and are more spray committed and land more bullets/kill but how would Niko know that unless they are the only ones alive. If you will peak SK even 2 SK players with this style without the spray commitment, you're going to go down or get traded down to a near certainty. This means Niko is quite simply unable to use the aim style he prefers vs them. He has to commit to every spray on Cold, every spray on Fer, Fallen etc. He doesn't even know who he's firing at so he has to do the same to the other two. This means even though he has the aim he is killing people, fully commited to them and shooting their dead bodies for milliseconds afterwards by which time another SK player will most likely take him down on top of that. Other teams are much less reactive and those milliseconds of communication/setup is all it takes for Niko to slot in and thrive. So I wouldn't be so hard on Niko for fragging less vs SK. Its not just a case of "oh because they are good players??" he quite simply cannot play his style vs them. His burst/tap firing style is what lands him the 40 bomb type maps. He doesn't like spray committing and actually tries to avoid it. You will see he will often not even kill the first target and be tapping on the other because he's feeling it but he still finishes both off bouncing head to head. It is what he thrives at and he cannot do that vs SK. Just take an example from yesterday. When Niko comes out of Palace there are 3 players on the A site. JDM is awping connector but the player on stairs is not covering him in a real time scenario. If Fallen would go connected he would have a player dedicated to stopping Niko for the time he is peeking. JDM even though he has a player to back him up is so unsure of his role at that point in time that they both die from Palace and then the CT player dies as well. This small mistiming is all it takes for Niko to slot in and destroy them, he is struggling to find it vs SK. He just wants to find them with their pants down for once KappaPride. TL:DR; Niko cannot play his preferred aiming style vs SK and has to fully commit to 1 spray per 1 target leaving him extremely susceptible to getting traded. He's not a bad player vs SK, he quite simply loses his biggest strength vs them and cannot perform. It is more down to communication and SK's team work than raw aim from the opposition. EDIT :This is not me saying its a case of "tap firing vs spraying" I very clearly state above that Niko thrives in gaps within the strategic setups of a team and their timing/ability to multi frag. Even a seasoned team like Astralis who can defeat Faze still lets Niko have the gaps he thrives in. SK's entire setup is created just to counter a player like Niko. They didn't even do it specifically for Niko but its how they have always played so it makes it really difficult for Niko to find that timing/communication gap to squeeze into and multi frag them. Posted: 16 Dec 2017 01:19 PM PST Just started wondering during Optic vs. Mouse that Allu has played for so many teams and had to check. He has played for 15 teams in 5 years. Thats 3 teams every year. Is there any other pro's who has been swapping teams a lot? [link] [comments]
I really appreciate how laid back the ECS stream is Posted: 16 Dec 2017 11:21 AM PST It's such a nice change of pace from how professional all the other tournament streams are. I really hope we can see more of these kind of streams in the future, it makes it a lot more fun to watch. [link] [comments]

Introducing: SimpleRadar - LITE Posted: 16 Dec 2017 12:10 PM PST Hello there redditors and simpleradar fans,
Today, I am proud to announce that we officially launch SimpleRadar - LITE, a series of modifications done to the original simpleradar maps - adjust visibility to the next level. This includes: • Super smooth one color overlay on the top • Removal of the interior / multilayer patterns, as a replacement there are now slightly brighter zones where patterns used to be. • (ALMOST) 100% Colorblind friendly
Here is a quick overview of how things look: Inferno, Dust 2 You also may have noticed I have added a complete new section for Community translations, these will be fully available early next year. CS:GO should display if a friend is on cooldown. Posted: 16 Dec 2017 01:54 PM PST On your friends list on the left when you're in a lobby, there should be a triangle with a "!" in the center on all of your friends that have cooldowns. When you hover over it, it should say "X has a cooldown for x days, x minutes" or something. I believe this would be helpful in queues so you dont have to waste your time inviting people that have one. just a quality of life change imo.
