All my Halo fanart from 2015-2017, figured I'd post some content whilst it's quiet around here.

l’ll always be critical of Halo because l want the series to reach the fullest potential it has. To counteract some of all the harsh criticism we’ve given them in the past, l’ve made a list of positive things and changes that they’ve done with Halo.

Posted: 29 Nov 2017 08:01 AM PST

l want to give 343 the benefit of the doubt on a lot of things. For better or worse, they are fairly receptive to complaints people have about Halo.

I'll be positive for once and list off the positive things they've done so far.

  1. Gave back the English voices of the Covenant that Bungie removed in Reach, albeit they had a good reason in that game.

  2. Try to use as many of the original cast members as possible. There's been several cases where game franchises utterly ditch the VAs from before, and l believe VAs are a big part of the creation of a character, when they're present.

  3. Gave us the greatest Forge we've ever had.

  4. Decided that making Halo Wars 2 would be a good move, and while financially it wasn't, l don't think any of us believed we'd ever see another Halo Wars game ever again.

  5. Are trying to incorporate the best of the Bungie and 343 artsyles. Whether we see that in Halo 6 remains to be seen, Halo Wars 2 is a great compromise between the two styles.

  6. Put in a flying UNSC vehicle after complaints about the lack of one in Halo 4 and the launch of Halo 5.

  7. Decided not to utterly abandon MCC. While it's not good in any way for MCC to have been released the way it was, fact still stands that fixing the MCC is 100% a community pleasing act and most devs would rather leave a broken game behind to be forgotten.

  8. Implemented classic armors and helmets after complaints about how the armors looked.

  9. Promised that split-screen will be apart of Halo from now on. Again, it shouldn't have been removed, but they did change it instead of saying "our game, screw you".

  10. Removed Brian Reed from his position. While l never want people to lose jobs, Reed was simply unfit for writing Halo stories. He may have been a great ideas man, and maybe he could've been kept around for that, but the fact still stands he was responsible for arguably the lowest quality stories in the series where stories are expected to be high quality.

  11. Are actively trying to incorporate extended material into the main game. Never in my life did l expect Blue Team to show up in a main series game. While they and the Didact were handled poorly in bringing players up to speed on who they are, the gesture is still appreciated.

There's more l would want to list but l think this is enough for now. l want Halo and 343 to improve and it's why I'll always be critical of them.

Please get Halo 6 right 343.

Just imagine if Halo 3 and Reach were up on Steam with hacking protection and all DLC included...

Posted: 29 Nov 2017 03:28 AM PST

Now that's something that would revive Halo and generate new fans for the modern releases faster than any amount of live action TV shorts or or increasingly 'COD-ified' multiplayer complete with microtransactions and weapon skins.

Edit: Ok, I made a few mistakes in the original posts/ comments. My point is, if Halo3 and Reach are basically abandoned by this point, they would be good candidates for a PC port that generates money and interest in what, according to this sub, is a rapidly declining series that needs to go back to its roots. There's no harm in letting people who can't or haven't played them get another go on them before the new games come out, especially if they even get on PC and Windows store.

I know I'd buy them if they came out.

Master Chief's story will come to an end someday, and Halo can move on without him

Posted: 29 Nov 2017 07:02 PM PST

I've seen people across the internet say that if Master Chief stops being in the Halo story, then they'll stop playing the Halo games, as he is the main character/icon of Halo. I agree, Master Chief is the main hero/image for the franchise. However, when telling a story, specifically a character's story, it has to come to an end. Luke Skywalker is the main hero of the original Star Wars trilogy. Yes, his story is continuing in the sequel trilogy, but we know his story will end at some point, most likely Episode IX, and he is not the main character (though he has a major/crucial role in The Last Jedi). When Luke's story ends, are people gonna say that they're now leaving *Star Wars? No, it's ridiculous, we now have Rey and Kylo Ren as the 2 leads of the story now. Back to Master Chief. When his story comes to an end it's fine, as long as there is an interesting new main protagonist to take his place. And look, I'll be a little sad when his story ends, as he's my (and most people's) favorite Halo character. I think originally they were hoping Locke would be this character. However, the character got so much backlash that I think they've back-pedaled on that. You can't keep Chief's story going forever, it has to close at some point, so that the Halo Universe can move forward and he gets a satisfying conclusion. Just my thoughts, what do you think?

Should the Flood be held off until the end of the series?

Posted: 29 Nov 2017 11:20 PM PST

So, over the years, we've gotten little encounters with the Flood, most recently in Awakening the Nightmare. However, these didn't really go anywhere, as they were just small breakouts. The Flood is the ultimate threat in the Halo Universe, and made only more terrifying when a Gravemind is formed and the Primordial returns. No enemy/threat can really match the scale of the Flood and Primordial, using the parasite as the test for Humanity. What's interesting is in 2014, Bonnie said that she hopes the franchise will go another 2 decades:

"I wanted to make sure we were able to go another three decades."

This quote seems to be her plan back in 2007, for Halo to go another 30 years and conclude in 2037. So, that would mean 20 years from now, Halo very well could come to an end. Should the Flood be held off until the end of the series, and make the wait all the more satisfying? This is an interesting topic, and I wanna know what you think.

Does anyone play Halo 3 multiplayer?

Posted: 29 Nov 2017 05:29 PM PST

Hi, Sorry if this is a repeat post that somebody else is done. I searched and couldn't find anything. But I'm considering buying the master chief digital collection on Xbox one. Halo 3 was my main game in high school and I played days of the multiplayer. Was getting Nostalgic and was thinking about buying it. So I was wondering if I could have some insight into what the online side of that looks like on the game? Thanks

"A Storage Solution" achievement in Halo: Reach is unobtainable at the moment...

Posted: 29 Nov 2017 09:08 AM PST

Just a PSA of sorts, but you can't upload to the file share on Reach anymore (although you can still download from it). Are there any workarounds that people know of?

Hear me out: Halo Warzone Battle Royale (kinda not a serious suggestion?)

Posted: 29 Nov 2017 03:34 PM PST

Recently I've been playing fortnite and it dawned me WHAT IF you mix the best parts of Warzone with the best parts of an emerging genre. Sell req packs for that money M$ wants. but, like, you need to reach a certain "credit" amount in game to call it in and you have to go to certain req stations around the map. You earn credits from just looting around the map and kills/medals. You can find any gun/vehicle in the game on the map but obviously the rarer guns/vehicles are harder to find OR more expensive to buy.

And there will also be AI stuff as always that show up and give you good loot/credits.

I don't think the game could handle over 64 players but whatever.

....It could work.

Posted: 29 Nov 2017 04:12 PM PST

Im not talking the bull time limited 4 minuite "warzone firefight" i want the original firefight. However if it is to be implemented and IF the flood returns i really hope we see a survival mode with the flood. Seriously. We need this.

You are only allowed to have 7 weapons in the next Halo game. What are they?

Posted: 29 Nov 2017 10:00 PM PST

This doesn't include grenades and vehicles. You can modify existing weapons, choose existing weapons or make your own.

So do ranks never really reset or does no one play anymore?

Posted: 29 Nov 2017 06:01 PM PST

I haven't played Halo in months. I haven't played Ranked in even longer.

Decided to play a game of Ranked Slayer since there isn't a social playlist for normal Slayer. Figured I haven't played in awhile so I'd get low levels. I get matched up against Onyx and Champion try hards on my first game? I mean, what the hell kind of ranking system is that? Or is there only high levels playing?
