Fallout - A crazy problem I've developed from having Repair 100

A crazy problem I've developed from having Repair 100

Posted: 17 Nov 2017 06:48 AM PST

In New Vegas, I always get repair 100, but now I have something akin to OCD where I constantly need to repair my gear and keep it to 100%, even with the "maintaining above 75%" skill.

Does anyone else immediately repair their gear once it goes down even one percent?

Anyone on Xbox who’s been waiting for the season pass to go on sale, it is currently $25 in the Xbox store for Black Friday!

If you had a chance to become a Fallout protagonist, which one would you rather be?

Posted: 17 Nov 2017 02:44 AM PST

My choice is the Courier. Uncovering past you forgot you had is pretty awesome, especially when it's all covered in conspiracies and such.

It's Fallout Tactics any good? And/Or is it worth my time?

Posted: 17 Nov 2017 08:16 AM PST

It's Friday, I have off work, I just got paid and I want to lose myself in an RPG. I've never played 1 or 2 and I'm curious about those too but Tactics looks interesting. What are your thoughts?

Edit: title screwed up, sorry.

why wasn't repairing weapons apart of Fallout 4?

Posted: 17 Nov 2017 12:16 PM PST

the weapon modification system would have made repairing a gun so much more intresting, instead of the gun as a whole wearing down parts could, such as firing in full auto would wear out the barrel faster, being knocked over could damge the sight and cracking the glass, it also would have made a use for enemy weapons
"looks like my stock is broke, i'll use this guns stock as a replacment till i can build a new one"

Questions about finding missing/lost settlers and Greygarden bots

Posted: 17 Nov 2017 10:42 AM PST

I currently have 30 people in Greygarden according to the menu.

As far as I know, the robots in Greygarden count towards the settler population, correct? I did a headcount and I had 17 robots there (including Greene, White, Brown) . IIRC, there were only supposed to be 6 in there originally.

I did NOT add any ROBOT settler manually. I did send some HUMAN settlers there manually, but I did not build a beacon there.

I also have the BETTER SETTLERS mod, but I don't think that randomly adds robots to Greygarden. That's the only mod I have that affects settlers specifically.

So anyway, the game says I have 30 settlers in Greygarden.

  • 17 are robots after doing a headcount
  • I don't have any followers assigned there
  • ...but I counted the humans and found out I had 18; and yes, I had them wearing Institute uniforms so I know they're staying/assigned in Greygarden

Ok... so the game is supposed to tell me that I have 35 settlers in total, not 30.

So how can this be?

  • The extra Greygarden robots. There were only supposed to be 6. I don't know where the extra robots came from. Do they add to the settlement population?

  • How do I get rid of them just to test if they can fix the settlement population count? Disable/enable doesn't work; and I can't find the correct base id's of these Mr. Handys.

  • Assuming the robots don't count, and only the humans do - would this mean I'm missing 9 settlers? I've tried to look everywhere including under floor foundations and way above the overpass which I built on - and couldn't find missing ones (and yes, they're wearing uniforms so I'd know if that's where they're supposed to be).

  • I mentioned that I've been sending settlers to Greygarden but that's a long time ago during the playthrough; I stopped at 30.

Should I play Lonesome Road or Old World Blues first?

Posted: 17 Nov 2017 08:40 AM PST

I recently picked up New Vegas, worked my way through the story, then played Honest Hearts and Dead Money, enjoying both. I'm conflicted on what DLC to play next. I am intrigued by what I've heard of Ulysses, in and out of game, but I've heard Old World Blues is really good. Advice?

What and Where Would the Next Fallout Game Be?

Posted: 17 Nov 2017 12:23 PM PST

I thought it would be cool to have a Fallout game set in New York, because of how much there would be to explore, and imagine having a BOS base in the Statue of Liberty. A New Vegas remake could also be cool, with remastered graphics and the ability to continue the game after you beat it. Fallout in Hawaii could be cool (Think tropical deathclaws). What do you think? How about a Fallout 1 remake (With updated graphics and gameplay)? What about making Van Buren a real game?

I have a very unpopular opinion about Joshua Graham.

Posted: 16 Nov 2017 05:11 PM PST

Edit: Thanks for everyone who participated in the discussion so far. This post turned out to be much better than I expected

Since I have no one to talk about New vegas, I share my opinion here (with bad english) and you don't have to agree, my intention was not to start a flame war. You can downvote me all you want if it makes you feel better.

Before I was playing Honest Hearts, I was reading about how incredible character is Joshua Graham, and his story and lines are so mindblowing. Still, I did not have high expectations.
I just finished Honest Hearts and apart from the bighorner calf quest (it was cute) I can't point out any character or mission I liked. Especially not Joshua Graham.
Why?
Little is known about him, and his religious ramblings were not too convincing for me. He is a tortured man, but we don't know his real motives, through the game it will become clear that he was an evil, cold blooded, brutal son of a bitch and still feared by many. Most info we know about him came from the mouth of his own, Caesar's or Follows-chalk's (if I remember correctly). Would have been great to hear what the White-legs has to say about him because this Dead horses VS White legs seemed to be very one sided.
He despises Caesar, talks about god, has a unique voice over and it was an instant like for many players.
BUT to me it seemed like his hate is personal, he hates Caesar himself not his tyrannical views. Graham played a big role in the rise of the Legion, without him maybe the Legion would not be as big as it was in the game.
To me it seemed like he is no different than Caesar - he is leading a tribe too, maybe he is treating the tribe folks well so far, but so did Caesar at the beginning. Graham might just repeat the entire process - to enslave the tribes so he can become powerful as the Legion then take his personal revenge on Caesar.

"I survived because the fire inside burned brighter than the fire around me. I fell down into that dark chasm, but the flame burned on and on."

And the flame still burns on and on, and this is the flame of vengeance, not the love of god. His religious mumbo jumbo is merely an agenda to control the primitive tribes.
He was an afwul person during his legate days, and there is no evidence that shows he is not an awful person at the time of the DLC. Seems like his smooth talk and pretentious dialogue lines fooled everyone, especially the players who like to forget the fact that Graham is still feared by Caesar, and not because Graham is a saint, benevolent angel-like good person, who helps the poor and heals the sick, but because he is ruthless, cruel, rotten to the core and Caesar knows it. He might even got rid of Graham because he feared that he will take his throne. Now he knows that Graham is alive, and even his name is a taboo at the Legion because even Caesar himself craps his pants by the mere sound of his name.

My opinion is that we barely know anything about him and not in a mysterious way - rather in a half-assed, rushed, incomplete kinda way. The game forces you to think that this poorly written dude is a "good" character due to his positive companion karma (seriously???), but none of his actions represent any kind of good intentions, you might fall for it if you are a devoted christian though. The whole karma system in this game is a joke.
That's why I don't get why do many people love him when he is just a pretentious character along with Daniel and the rest of the tribe folk, the entire DLC is full of plotholes and design flaws. I played Dead Money and Old world blues too, and Honest Hearts is by far the worst, most uninspired, out of the place DLC in my opinion. I still have Lonesome road to play.

Opinions on Mr. House in New Vegas

Posted: 16 Nov 2017 10:39 PM PST

I wanted to get people's opinions on Mr. House from long time players of the games. Just recently started playing the games (yes I know where have I been for like the past decade) but idk how I feel about him. So I thought I'd stir this up.

Making Fallout 4 More enjoyable

Posted: 17 Nov 2017 06:54 AM PST

I am going to have a debate with some of my friends for a potential podcast episode over which Fallout is truly the best. I'll be defending New Vegas, and my biggest opponent is Fallout 4. This may sound easy, but I wanted to replay Fallout 4 a couple times to remember all the small caveats and reference the points I hate. But here's where the problem lies. I can't seem to continue playing! I've beat the game already, and it's just boring, does this happen to anyone else? So my main question is, is there something I can do (play style/mod/whatever) to make this game more enjoyable? Thank you in advanced.
