Net Neutrality Day of Action - Be Heard.

Posted: 12 Jul 2017 07:35 AM PDT

We're all here because gaming is a hobby for us, one we love and use to escape from petty politics. Unfortunately petty politics is rearing its ugly head to try and fuck over our hobby. This isn't a partisan issue - this is not about who you voted for. This is about keeping the Internet open and free to all, so Joe Random's ToS Boss Fight breakdown is on equal footing with WoWHead's guides.

What is Net Neutrality?

It's the basic principle that all Internet traffic should be treated equally.

Network neutrality is the idea that your cellular, cable, or phone internet connection should treat all websites and services the same. Carrier companies want to treat them differently so they can charge consumers and businesses more for priority access. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is currently debating legislation to define limits for internet service providers (ISPs). The hope is that they will keep the internet open and prevent companies from discriminating against different kinds of websites and services.

Why should I care?

  • A free and open internet is the single greatest technology of our time, and control should not be at the mercy of corporations.
  • A free and open internet stimulates ISP competition.
  • A free and open internet promotes the spread of ideas.
  • A free and open internet helps prevent unfair pricing practices.

Without an open internet, corporations would have tight control over how we access websites and services. Love playing on Battle.net? Better hope Blizz is ready to pay for priority access so your game doesn't lag, and hope the traffic doesn't get out prioritized by Steam, PSN, XBoxLive, etc.

Major internet companies like Amazon, Etsy, Twitter, and Netflix have all joined the fight to help save Net Neutrality. The FCC is deciding this issue the way big cable and ISPs want it to, so it's on us as citizens to tell them—and our representatives in the Senate and House—how important the open internet is to our economy, our society, and especially for when we're bored at work.

What can I do?

Join the conversation, comment on the Reddit post so when they visit DC your voice can be heard and, most importantly, contact the FCC to let them know why you care about protecting the open internet.

Is The Tomb of Sargeras... (theories and major 7.3 spoilers)

Posted: 11 Jul 2017 11:18 PM PDT

..the entrance to N'Zoths prison?

Has anyone made that connection yet? Ive seen a lot of debate through the expansion on where he's actually located, but I'm not sure if anyones made that theory yet.

Originally we had the proposed zone of Thal'Dranath, which was scrapped. Which would have perfectly lined up with the chronicle maps for N'Zoths location.

Now broken shore.. is pretty close by, like easy swimming range to where Thal'Dranath was originally set to be in game.

It's stated very briefly both in game and in chronicle that the original night elf temple, now being the tomb of sargeras, was built upon an ancient power. http://imgur.com/a/hel8G

When you get deep enough, especially on the elevator to the avatar, you're surrounded by obvious titan structures, not unlike those seen in Ulduar, Yogg's Prison. Does this mean it's also a prison? Of course not, but it must serve a purpose, and the proximity is suspicious.

If I'm not mistaken, during our adventure through the Tomb, we set up 4 out of 5 pillars (why wasnt the eye placed? Is it the final turning key that won't be teleported from Dalaran until we're ready to turn it?) but never get the chance to activate them before jumping through the portal after Kil'Jadeen.

My guess is that upon returning from Argus, yay woo the burning legion is defeated! We'll activate the pillars to close the giant rift in the sky. With Illidan being imprisoned with Sargeras now and who knows where the keystone went if it didnt implode upon opening the rift between our worlds, that seems like the most likely option to do so.

Now here's where two quotes from Il'Gynoth I'm sure everyones heard a million times by now come in-

"Five keys to open our way. Five torches to light our path."

"The lord of ravens will turn the key"

Ive seen most people agree that the keys are most likely the pillars, and the lord of ravens is either Khadgar or Odyn. Will activating the pillars/keys when placed in the temple unlock the prison?

Bonus thoughts;

Why did Queen Azshara want the tidestone so badly in the first place? Why did she return it to one of her lackeys after as the item states; "The pieces of the Tidestone have been made whole by Queen Azshara. Take it to Aegwynn's Chamber in Dalaran." A titan relic doesnt seem like something you let go so easily, unless you expect it to fall into the right hands. But then you could question why her minions attack you again for it during Tomb, unless they wanted to take control now that everything was brought together for them. I dunno, might not be connected at all, but Queen Azshara isnt stupid, simple, or rushed. She's a minion of N'Zoth, clever, and patient. So the whole mess revolving around the tidestone always seemed odd to me.

  • EDIT: Something to add to the tidestone thought; "At times it seems the naga beg for scraps from the Legion's table. But the queen they serve wants far more than that." is something the shadow priest artifact of Xal'atath whispers to you after the defeat of Mistress Sassz'ine. So that heavily implies that her minions are acting of their own selfish desires and not so much their Queen's commands.

  • EDIT 2: It's probably mere coincidence, but since everyone is making their guess as to where the "circle of stars" refers to. The elevator going down in ToS kinda is a circle of stars itself. http://imgur.com/a/voi60

Personally I'm partial to the imagery seen in the maelstrom. I feel N'Zoth likely has some long distance sway through the planets life blood (maelstrom aka the giant wound the planet, leylines and such). The influence of Yogg-saron and C'thun seemed pretty localized to the regions surrounding their prison, but we've seen N'Zoths reach world-wide.
