I've just seen a different way to pull the top dire large camp, done at xx:15 or xx:45 Posted: 08 Jul 2017 12:35 PM PDT RR was playing in the Mars DotA league on dire when I saw him pull a camp at xx:15 by tangoing the tree in the image. I think it creates new opportunities to do a safer pull, or to allow flexible timings so that you can run to the runes/gank/courier snipe. [link] [comments] |
Why don't supports ever start with a headdress-first build, especially in a trilane? Posted: 08 Jul 2017 10:41 AM PDT Everyone agrees that regen is of critical importance in the laning stage, which is why almost every position always buys tangoes with starting gold. Moreover, early regen is a core part of the power of certain laners like Ogre, Nyx, DK, Timber, and Lycan. So given how powerful regeneration is, why don't supports every go headress recipe+stick, buying a ring in the side shop with passive gold and effectively giving their lane partner a permanent +2 regen? Naturally this would only work in a setup where there is a second support who is buying courier and wards. In a trilane, an early headdress is +6 regen to the team, enabling you to trade heavily with the enemy. It's like a permanent tango. Perhaps even better if your lane partner is a Huskar or Axe or other hero that relies on regening health. [link] [comments] |
Tanking up as a support in a cost effective manner. Posted: 08 Jul 2017 08:11 AM PDT As a support player in the trench, I have terrible positioning so I take more damage than I should. Typically, I would buy a bracer to give me some more tankiness if I felt particularly squishy. But I now am considering buying armour instead. Bracer costs 490 gold, and gives me 6 strength, or 120 HP. It costs 4 gold for each point of HP. Other benefits of this are: it helps with magical damage, and it gives 33 mana. It builds into drums and atos, both pretty useful items as a support. Chainmail costs 550 gold, and gives me 5 armour, or .24 of my max hp as extra EHP. Therefore, if I have 1000hp I get 240 extra EHP and if I have 500hp, it adds 120EHP. It is as cost effective as bracer in terms of EHP when I have 572HP, and if I have more HP it is more cost effective. It builds into blademail, assault cuirass, buckler and medallion. The last two are decent on supports, but mek on supports isn't very in meta. So in terms of value items to boost tankiness, unless I am against a high magic damage team I don't see any benefit to getting bracer over chainmail aside from the tiny mana it gives. In terms of practicality, there are some better options to build into other items for bracer but it feels like the chainmail gives better value. Is this analysis correct? [link] [comments] |
Is hiding heroes role in drafting becoming more important than their strength in that position Posted: 07 Jul 2017 07:59 PM PDT This isn't a new concept but it seems like it has become more prevalent in recent tournaments. Things like NP running safe lane Death Prophet and Ember Spirit, EG with Venomancer in multiple roles and support Puck, OG with one position Visage, some support Sven by VP. It seems that forcing the other team to respond to what they expect that pick to be is better than what that hero will provide, even in an awkward position. Sandking seems to be one of the most popular picks because aside from having a versitile kit, he can be run successfully as support and offlane. Is this just heavy experimentation from teams, or are they trying to throw teams off going into larger events? Is it something we can expect to see from even more heroes in the future, or will some heroes always be relegated to a specific role? Should we expect many surprise role swaps like this to show up at large tournaments, specifically TI? What heroes do you think could fit this model that might show up in the current patch? Unlike how most pro play influences pub play, I don't think this will have much of an impact. Pub drafts tend to be more chaotic that it is unlikely baiting picks would be as successful as it would be in a professional scenario. Just curious what you guys think of this recent trend. Posted: 08 Jul 2017 07:56 AM PDT so I was curious to know how party report system works. suppose there is a party of 5 members (can be less) and someone in your party reports you. will that report be counted, will dota2/valve system consider that report as a real report and work on that report? if that report turns out to be true/legit, will the person being reported get a ban/lp because of his party member ? How do you effectively play Abaddon this patch? Posted: 08 Jul 2017 05:53 AM PDT I feel like he is a good laner since aphothic shield does reflect significant damage from support who tries to zone you out. You could also trade hits with their carry because curse of avernus gives a good advantage when that happens. On a good day I could easily destroy their building when I win the match. The problem lies when mid game approaches because I get easily kited and ignored especially if they have tons lockdown. To make up for this I buy cheap cost effective items like phase, drums and atos. Is that build good or bad? Thoughts on the hero in general? [link] [comments] |
Which talents do you favor on invoker depending on the situations? Posted: 08 Jul 2017 12:42 PM PDT Also, how fast do you level the talents? Whenever you can, lvl 14/15 because you get the forge spirits or wait until you have maxed out all the orbs. Do each of these ways have any specific benefit? [link] [comments] |
