Self Post Sundays! - July 16, 2017 Posted: 15 Jul 2017 09:09 PM PDT To foster more discussion about the games every Sunday we turn the subreddit into self-post only mode. Self-Post Sundays are our main discussion day. On those days we only allow text posts directly about the games themselves. Please save your images, fan art, screenshots, videos, etc to the other days of the week. Use this day to discuss the games. Other posts will be removed. [link] [comments] |

Is this game worth the Switch? Posted: 16 Jul 2017 07:15 AM PDT This game looks totally amazing, with alot of sandbox features, the huge open world, and all that. But is it worth a Switch? I don't really want the Wii U, at all, but this game just looks amazing. [link] [comments] |

Who is your favorite merchant from any Zelda game? Posted: 16 Jul 2017 10:23 AM PDT Whether it's because of their great prices, useful items, or their charming personality, who's your favorite merchant in the series? Alternatively, who's your least favorite merchant? I'd say the Happy Mask Salesman in Majora's Mask is my favorite, but since he doesn't really act as a merchant in that game I'll go with Beedle from any game he appears in. He's awkward, but he's always trying to do his best in his own weird way. [link] [comments] |

Some Master Mode Beginner Trials tips Posted: 16 Jul 2017 04:28 AM PDT So I'm not a speed runner and I'm a fairly average skill level player and I was struggling with MM trials. I have searched online for tips/strategy, and a lot of the early runs are from people who ARE really good players/speed runners. The first video I found of Beginner trials was by a YouTuber named Quizzle (Link that's a no hit run run he did with 3 hearts!!! I actually do use a lot of the strategy he presented but with the changes below. Most of the standard strategies involve running a +3 attack buff and have excellent combat reflexes. This didn't work for me. At all lol. So first things first, I had a MUCH better time running a +3 defense buff. Use a dragon horn shard with defensive items to create a 30 minute buff. Yes, your attacks and bombs are weaker, but I was taking so much chip damage that I couldn't keep up otherwise. This helped me a lot more than the +3 attack buff did. The only time I felt the lack of attack power was against the talus, but it just takes longer. Second, abuse your powers. In the rooms with water, use cryonis to create cover for yourself. Stasis enemies (Hinox!!!). Stasis combo with a bomb to create some breathing room (I did this a lot for moblins). Don't stress too much about the regenerating health - especially in the rooms you mostly attack with bombs. In several of the water levels, I would climb on top of a cryonis ice pillar and then jump and slow motion archery for as many headshots as I could get. Speaking of which, go in with max stamina. Three wheels + 2 bonus wheels (5x endura carrots). I ran a LOT, I swam away like a coward a LOT, I used my slow motion arrow skill a lot! Floor 10 has a lizalfos and 2x silver lizalfos. It's crazy. First things first, stasis the lizalfos straight ahead immediately. This buys you some time to line up an arrow from distance. If you miss and he starts to look for you, jump back into the water, and let your stasis and his aggro reset. Now for the silver lizalfos - I was only able to do this using a sneakstrike trick. So these guys are pretty easy to sneak up on. Just crouch and move slow. Once you are in position, you can sneakstrike using a 27 attack spiked mobo in club (save that for this room). This won't kill it, but it does 216 damage each hit. Here's the trick: the lizalfalos will do an animation where it falls down, gets up, and then faces where the sneakstrike came from. During this animation, it is completely blind. So you simply do the most illogical thing and as soon as you execute your sneakstrike, you move to the where it's head is - in plain view of the lizalfalos. Don't worry, he will ignore you and turn to face where you stood for the initial sneakstrike. You are now lined up for sneakstrike #2, and repeat. I recommend practicing this technique outside of trial of the sword. It's quite demoralizing to get to floor 10, have a single misstep and getting wiped to the beginning. Speaking of missteps, if you do mess up the sneakstrikes - don't engage in regular combat. These guys hit hard, have 800+ regenerating HP, and can swim circles around you. Hide instead. There are 2 wooden boxes that you can hide behind on the platform. The lizalfalos will eventually reset if you crouch and hide, and you can try to sneakstrike again. Floor 11 is a cool floor with a raft and wind that you typically use to float across while showing off your master archer skills. I completely ignore the raft. I just cryonis pillars for cover and jumping platforms to slow motion arrow enemies down. The bokoblin and moblin cant swim, FYI, so the key is to bait the silver guys into corners of the last platform and then headshot them so that they fall into the water. Play it slow and safe, because the last room is pretty easy. Floor 12 is a Hinox, stasis, arrow to the eye, get a couple of melee attacks off, then run away. Repeat. If your stasis is on cooldown, run away until it's not. You likely have an excess of arrows and weapons at this point, so it's much more about not taking damage than dealing it (even with regenerating health). This is a long post, but it made the beginner trials way less painful for me. I hope it helps you too! [link] [comments] |
Breath of the Wild - Self-Imposed Classic Mode Posted: 15 Jul 2017 12:15 PM PDT I don't know about the rest of you but I was really disappointed with Master Mode in the game; flying platforms, upgraded enemies and damage sponges feel like a lazy change for what was originally possible with a Hard Mode (day/time based temperature changes, mirrored world, roaming enemy packs, menu screen that doesn't pause the game, eating limits, etc). That said, I decided to create my own kind of Master Mode and I have to say, I'm having a ton of fun with the game as a result. I call it Classic Mode. Like the original Zelda, it's hard and there's a lot of dying. But it's a lot more fun. Here's how it goes:
So far I'm having a blast with this. It's made the whole world feel like a dungeon since I have to be careful about every encounter and route and campsites actually feel like checkpoints where I have to prepare before setting off for the next one. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
