Posted: 15 Jul 2017 07:54 AM PDT Like most of you I've played many MMOs, starting with Ultima Online in the mythical predawn of 1997. I've watched the model grow and evolve, and spent a ton of time playing WoW. Every year or two, SWTOR, WoW, FFXIV, and every other MMO I played would raise the level cap. I'd have to grind out the new content, chasing epic loot that would be obsolete as soon as the level cap rose. I've take two long breaks from GW2, and I'm sure I'll take more. But I will always come back. I have every class at max level, and when I return after a year long break I can just...play. I'm not hopeless behind and a total detriment to a raid / zerg / pvp team. My skills might have atrophied, but I'm not further slapped with the gear disadvantage. So far as I know GW2 is the only major MMO not to raise the level cap, and I wanted to thank Anet for that. It was the right move. [link] [comments]
Tag colors great, how about a tag color indicator in chat. Posted: 15 Jul 2017 10:58 AM PDT If you have a mentor tag up, people see [mentor] in chat text. Likewise, add just a small dot to show the tag color of the person if they're tagged up. [link] [comments]

Posted: 15 Jul 2017 06:42 PM PDT My character won't stop doing the drowning/swimming emote, even when they're not in water. It was pretty funny at first but they've been like this for about an hour now. Does anybody have any idea how to fix this? Cheers [link] [comments]
In thirty minutes from this post, the best of EU will be going up against the best of NA. Posted: 15 Jul 2017 11:30 AM PDT ----- MATCHES HAVE CONCLUDED. THANKS FOR WATCHING ----- Greetings. In thirty minutes from this post, the best of EU will be going up against the best NA has to offer in a series of three organized guild vs guild matches. Anguîsh [Ash] is embarking on a North American tour to prove once and for all that Europeans are king when it comes to GvG. This is a rare opportunity to see guilds from different regions compete, and thankfully the action will be at your fingertips over on Twitch. Here's the schedule:
Format: 15v15 in guild hall, best of nine rounds, PvE settings Stream: https://www.twitch.tv/gregorpayne (Match 1 & 2), https://www.twitch.tv/syncotg (Match 3) If you are interested in getting involved, join the community Discord and post a message in #guild-recruitment! ~ edit: http://i.imgur.com/a8J7CMM.jpg, waiting on guild hall invite edit2: Lost Precipice! Ash/BoRP have agreed to allow swiftness and stealth before each round edit3: Some background. [Ash] was one the strongest GvG guilds in 2016. They've recently reformed at the beginning of summer and are known for their strong single-target playstyle. [BoRP]'s playstyle was originally adapted from the European metas developed by guilds like [Ash]. The old "toilet bowl" meta, a term popularized by the melee-focused endurance tests, has slowly shifted to a "base race" of sorts, with cooldowns being traded to avoid ever increasing damage and control. edit4: Both teams are in the arena and rounds are about to start. edit5: First round underway. Ash downs a BoRP necro early in the fight but has the stomp denied by stealth. Timewarps exchanged as BoRP eventually gains the upper hand. They clinch the first round 1-0. edit6: Round 2. BoRP gets an early reveal. German Healthcare from Ash goes down first and is taken out of the fight. Thunder follows and that's going to be another round for the North American contender. 2-0. edit7: 270 viewers! Early two-man advantage for BoRP snowballs to more Ash downs. Super Adventure Box finishers going off as downed players are punted via Banish and stomped by Mesmers with Blink. 3-0. edit8: Another round for BoRP. Ash really needs to think evaluate what's going wrong in their comp and try to address it. Both guilds possibly electing to continue scrimming each other after the official rounds. 4-0. edit9: Match point. Both guilds holding their own at the start. Early down on Ash but gets revived immediately. Ackroyd from BoRP goes down but is also ressed. GG is called as the final score is 5-0 in favor of BoRP. RIP Jerri. edit10: One last round for the crowd (unofficial). Ash starts early with the stealth advantage. Both teams clashing near the center of the arena. BoRP slowly maintains a man advantage before a cascade of players go down on Ash. GGs to both teams. Next up is [Ash] vs [KEK] at 6PM EDT. See you then. edit11: And we're back! We're waiting for the rounds to get underway. [Ash] will now be facing [KEK] from Maguuma. [KEK]'s a solid guild, favoring a heavy offensive pressure style of play that focuses on big openers and strong momentum. Both teams are no doubt adjusting their strategies a little bit with the knowledge of the first match. edit12: Still waiting for [Ash] to load in. eSports legend Aerodynamique is joining the casting booth to share his insights. Hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday. edit13: 310 viewers! Rounds are about to begin. Prebuffing ruleset is swiftness only, with weapon swapping before rounds disallowed. Utility swapping before rounds is okay. edit14: First round begins with stealth openers from both teams. Interesting to see [Ash] has elected to bring a thief into their comp (likely to help single-target pressure). No one-pushes here as both teams clash. Shaaki from [Ash] goes down is the first out. It doesn't look like they'll be able to stop [KEK]'s momentum. [KEK] takes the lead 1-0. edit15: Quickly moving onto the second round, both teams waiting out each other's stealth. Very clean play from both teams as cooldowns are exchanged. Lazarus, a thief for [KEK], goes down but is quickly ressed. He goes down a second time and [Ash]'s superior warrior cleave is able to secure them the first victory today. 1-1. EU viewers going crazy in Twitch chat as the meme war intensifies! edit16: Freakshow from [Ash] is able to get an early reveal on KEK. They reverse on him but he's able to invuln away. Fairly even round but nobody really dying until the last few seconds. Ash cracks at the very end, giving KEK the 2-1 lead. 450 viewers! edit17: Very long round! Ash secures the first down on a KEK guardian. Both teams hovering dangerously low on health as they stay aggressive. Very clutch positional play going out by Ash, allowing them to slowly secure each additional down. 2-2. edit18: Another early reveal by Freakshow. Mesmers from both teams dropping all their glamours, their teams not caring and fighting in the thick of it. Players from both sides going down. Diviniya from KEK narrowly rallied after being punted. Toxic from Ash goes down, followed by MichaelMurphy. KEK regains the lead 3-2. edit19: Ash goes for restealth at the start but is penalized by KEK null fields. Ash's driver getting a lot of focus as his team tries to bail him out. KEK staying on the offense, stripping that key resistance to enable their condition pressure, clinching the round. 4-2. edit20: Match point. Ash does a smart restealth behind their starting pillar. No one-pushes here, but Ash is able to secure a two-man advantage early on. KEK doing their best to sustain but slowly losing members. Not seeing the down being secured with blink stomps. Ash gets another chance to fight on. 4-3 KEK. edit21: Seeing some netcode issues with an Ash player porting around at the beginning. KEK drops their entire bomb but narrowly misses generating any downs. Mesmers from Ash hanging out in Africa and getting picked off, but a clutch res by Roy saves the day. There's now a perfect opening for Ash to capitalize, Diviniya from KEK dropping low. He needs resistance but the revenant in his party is dead. Tensions rising MichaelMurphy goes down and up repeatedly. KEK's defenses finally cracked as the GG is called by Diviniya. Score is tied 4-4! edit22: Winner takes all, or as Aero puts it, "This is definitely some 4-dimensional chess." Freakshow gets the early read, but MichaelMurphy from Ash gets pulled and absolutely deleted from the game. Cries of driver-sniping going out in chat. KEK necro goes down and gets punted, but he's able to get ressed up. Both teams exchanging blows. Thunder, guardian for Ash, goes down. This is not looking good. The rest of the guild cracks and the GG is called. KEK takes the match 5-4. edit23: It looks like both teams are calling it there. Very good GvG overall. Ash has demonstrated how strong they are at adapting. GGs to both teams. Next up is [Ash] vs [Agg] at 9PM EDT, with streaming duties handed over to Synco. See you then. edit24: Official statement from KEK on the last round: "FWIW, KEK did not intentionally snipe Michael Murphy, the fact that he is with ping probably contirbuted to his death but nobody tried to snipe him" edit25: Synco's started up his stream. You can find it here. Jak and Noodles stepping in to help cast. Some background on [Agg]: Aggression is an GvG guild that was extremely competitive back in 2014. They're most known for their GvG against Team Aggression from EU. They've recently reformed once again to take back the crown, and have had to quickly adapt to changing metas and playstyles. edit26: Experiencing some technical difficulties with the stream. Both teams are loaded in the arena and starting soon. Props to everyone getting ready. Maybe we'll start on time :D edit27: Match has begun. No formalities as the two guilds clash immediately. Two early downs from Agg before a prolonged exchange. [Ash] takes an early first round 1-0. edit28: It looks like both teams have made some adjustments to their comps. Agg is trying to bait out Ash's early stealth. First down from Ash's side, can Agg capitalize? More downs on both sides going down as time warps are being dropped on the field to cover the revives with Resistance. Two chronos down on Ash's side. Both sides now slugging it out but the GG is called and Agg ties it up 1-1. edit29: Extremely aggressive start by Ash, opening from stealth. Brendan from Agg goes extremely low, but a down from Ash forces both teams to regroup. Ash manages to cleave out two players, removing Agg's Necros. We're seeing a battle of endurance now but the 15v12 pressure is slowly building up. Suddenly Jericho, driver for Agg, goes down and the ensuing battle for the revive cracks the rest of the team. [Ash] leads 2-1. edit30: The forth round begins with a massive opener from both teams. The field is lit by Purging flames and time warps. Really anyone's game right now. Both teams trading downs, twelve players remaining for both teams. Two minutes in the action has stalemated, neither team gaining a decisive advantage. Many lows on Agg's side, but they're able to maintain pressure. Mental Pain goes down from [Ash], followed by Roy. Ash begins to crack, score tied 2-2. edit31: Early reveal on Ash, Murphy going down but gets ressed. Lot of pressure from Agg coming out right now, but Ash is demonstrating a very strong res game. In a blink of an eye however, two players from Ash go down and the team cracks. 3-2 Agg. edit32: Agg opens up with a veil and decides to bomb early. They lose a revenant in the process, and are being forced on their back foot. Serane from Agg goes down, followed by a Necro. All three necros from Agg now either in downstate or dead. Agg has no damage left and all Ash needs to do is to play conservatively and press their advantage. Ash takes the 6th round, score tied once again 3-3. edit33: Both teams diving straight into the thick of it. Rotating counter-clockwise after the initial engage. Low players on both sides. Murphy from Ash goes down but they're able to recover and counter attack. Ash takes out all three necros on Agg's side once again. We're starting to see a repeat of the last round now. GG is called and Ash is one point away from victory. 4-3. edit34: Match point. Both teams playing rather conservatively. An Ash player gets spiked, but once again they're able to recover. Agg players getting really low now. Agg necro goes down. Jericho goes down. Ash is punishing the res, cleaving two Agg downs. 11v15 right now, Agg trying desperately to hold down. GG is finally called out. Anguish wins the match 5-3. edit35: That's it folks. Thanks for watching and supporting the scene. GGs to both teams. Final scores have been updated. If any of you are curious about getting involved, please don't hesitate to reach out. WvWers are passionate about their craft and help anyone that wants to seriously learn. If any Mesmer mains are looking for resources on how to play their class in GvG or WvW, I've got many videos and playlists up on my YouTube channel for that purpose. [link] [comments]
Legendary armor glow is insane in Ember Bay Posted: 15 Jul 2017 07:20 PM PDT I knew that legendary armor sometimes has an issue with dyes and the glow depending on the map you are in but this is just insane. I'm using permafrost dye, pretty much as white as you can get, as well as Matriarch Brass yet the armor looks pure red. I know everyone gets a red hue in Ember Bay however on leg. armor this is just amplified to absurd levels. [link] [comments]

What interesting stat combinations are we still missing? Posted: 15 Jul 2017 08:25 AM PDT With the new expansion on the horizon, chances are we will get armor with new, unique stat combinations like we did in HoT. What are some interesting stat combinations we could see and how would they change the current buildscape? Obviously this is just a speculative discussion but I'd love to hear your ideas. Personally I'm interested to see if we might be getting triple stat armor containing Concentration or Expertise. Something like CONDI/prec/exp for example. But maybe that would be too strong, resulting in really high boon/condi-duration (or rather a better way to reach the cap). Share your thoughts, go wild, let's discuss :) [link] [comments]

Just started getting deep into GW2 lore, and I'm now excited for the future Posted: 15 Jul 2017 02:28 PM PDT Guild Wars 2 never ceases to surprise me with its sheer world depth. There are so many things to do that you often forget about some other aspects of the game. Take the story for instance, I only made it through the personal story and the season 1 recap. Hearing about the other dragons made me really curious and so I headed to the wiki for some info digging. There I found a ton of information on the other dragons and saw how they were related to GW1. All the dragons except for one...The Deep Sea Dragon. Now I don't know about you all, but this dragon is mysterious and interesting as hell. The fact that very little is known about him makes it incredibly fascinating, and part of me is dying to learn more. I mean just imagine if say...2 expansions down the road, we suddenly get some influence from this particular dragon. Maybe he spawns some new water-based creatures which begin to invade Tyria, or we take the fight to him. The possibilities really are endless here, and I really want to see all 6 dragons destroyed in the end. Now I'm gonna play all of the Living Story S2 + S3 + HoT story which will hopefully hold me long enough until more story stuff comes out. Just wanted to share this with you all, thanks for reading! Oh and a final question if you made it this far: What aspect of GW2 lore interests you the most? [link] [comments]

Group absorbed by squad and kicked out of dungeon? Posted: 15 Jul 2017 09:08 AM PDT I'm doing a dungeon, whacking away at the boss when suddenly I get a loading screen for the map outside. My first thought: "Why did they kick me? I didn't even see a vote in chat." So after the loading screen I see that my group of 5 is now in a squad of 30+ people, the chat filled with "wtf" and similar comments. Basically the whole group got somehow kicked out of the dungeon and absorbed by a different squad. My question: How can this happen? [link] [comments]

Getting into maguuma for the first time Posted: 15 Jul 2017 05:15 PM PDT Hey everyone, I recently got to my first level 80 character and unlocked the first few mysteries in my Druid speciality tree. I have 195 remaining HP needed to finish it and I really want that done before delving into much endgame content. I figure once I'm there I can just do LFG to find a group looking to do similar, but I'm having trouble figuring out where to go to begin. I read in the wiki that I can activate the story, and I did, but that doesn't exactly tell my which area connects to it or whatever.. is it Dry Top? Looks close enough to be possible. I don't have a guild so I can't just use a portal to get into the area. Is there a best place to start in HoT as Well? I figure the glider would be heavily needed? [link] [comments]

Posted: 15 Jul 2017 05:45 AM PDT I really like how gw2 looks and the artistic design is greate. But what really puts me off is the sometimes bad LOD. Big objects don´t render even if you know there should be there, but all you see is a big crater or a hole where the object would normally be. The most bad example is Lions Arch, looking from the light-house to the city. Some Houses render, but some don´t. example. And yes i have it on ultra. I know this will not be a easy or quick change, but it looks just bad. And i hope Anet will at least try to look into it. [link] [comments]
Back Item Dilema. Need help. (also an extra question). Posted: 15 Jul 2017 06:24 PM PDT So, I'm a total noob at this, but in deciding how to build my chronomancer, I stumble upon an interesting thing. Some builds use a lvl 78 Crafting Back, while others use an Ascended one. The ascended has 31/22/22 better stats than the Exotic lvl 78. The only difference I can see is that the crafter has an upgrade slot, and the Ascended has 1 extra Infusion (once infused). Is there a reason for this? or just personal pref? Am I missing something?
Also, on a Side question, For a tank Chrono, whats considered the better choice? Minstrel's or Commander's ? thank you for reading. [link] [comments]
I think it would be really cool for each profession to have its own club (set like a home instance) Posted: 14 Jul 2017 08:45 PM PDT Each race has its own home instance, right? Well, I was thinking, what if each profession had their own "club" and a location to go along with it? Maybe to make these locations easier to design, they could take place in the mists, like the PvP lobby. I imagine a group of elementalists in a location surrounded by earth, water, fire, and air, and everyone is hanging around and all members are elementalists. Then there's the druid's club location and everything has to do with nature and there's animals everywhere you turn. The mesmer's club is pink as far as the eye can see, and it has HUNDREDS of different people in their location, but, oh wait, three fourths of those people are just illusions. Doh! I could go on and on and on, but I think you get my point. I think it would be a really cool idea for each profession to have a meeting place where they all discuss tactics and whatnot. Heck, this could even tie into new elite specializations. All of the members get together and discover new powers, which they quickly teach to everyone else they meet. What do you guys think? Ignoring the fact that this would of course take a lot of time to create, do you agree that this would be really awesome? I know that I'd love it! What ideas do you have for the design of the club of your main character's profession? [link] [comments] |
