Korean Devs are amazing - its the ppl in charge that ruin their games..

Posted: 30 Aug 2018 07:08 PM PDT

Like BDO has so many details, so many different quests and hidden gems within the world. Everything in this game is really made with passion even if the code is not the best, the game itself has so much going for it. It really shows that the dev team of BDO wanted to make the next big mmo and really upped some standards within the mmo genre.

Im 99% certain the people who made this great game arent the ones being in charge for these horrible p2w mechanics which alter this game to the point where it has nothing to do with the original vision anymore. How do devs feel about it? The recent changes seem to be made by a completely different team than when the game first launched. In the beginning this game had a clear vision of an fully open-world pvp game and since then, with all recent updates, has made matters worse. Its amazing and sad at the same time, the core game of BDO is so good that even with all these horrible changes its still the best mmo out there for me. But I have to wonder, when you create such a gem and then see it being ***** harder than a star wars stormtrooper.

I personally dont support the company anymore but BDO, same as ArcheAge, holds a very special place in my mmo-heart. I think Korean Devs are amazing in creating mmos, as their style of hardcore progression systems and fun combat stay true to what I want in an MMO. Really hope we someday get one which isnt ripped apart for some quick bucks.

I know there's a ton of posts like this one rn but...

Such a shame what BDO has become.

I've played since the release of the game, in kind of 4-5 months-periods. Leaving and coming again.

I came again like 2 weeks ago and I'm leaving for good. If the end game is PvP, and that is f***k up by p2w methods, there is no reason to expend 2000 hours in PvE.

I thought this patch wouldn't make that much difference, but I can't believe my eyes seen as so many ppl try TET and PEN again and again.

Good by BDO, my old friend. I hope you get better.

Black Desert Companion

Hi there,

A while ago I made some random website with an enhancement calculator(looked like this https://gyazo.com/6219722a8cb0874f15a2afd85f483fab), then shortly after I stopped playing the game. Now I'm back and I'm planning on reviving the project(not the website) and try to bring as much useful stuff as I can for the community.

I'm currently focusing on making a notification system for the marketplace(like bdonotify, but without putting everything behind a paywall).

If you're interested in the development of the project, if you have suggestions, or simply wanna talk, throw a comment or join my Discord: https://discord.gg/kZYQ8TN

I'm planning on integrating all the features inside Discord rather than a website, some may like it more this way, some may not; some don't give a damn so yeah.

Cheers!

Unpopular Opinion: P2W in BDO doesn't affect many people negatively.

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 08:10 AM PDT

Everyone has seen the screenshots by now of all of the TET and PEN attempts shortly after the ability to melt costumes. There were TONS of them. On EU within 3 hours there were 53 more confirmed PENS than before. That's crazy right? But those TET and PEN attempts are slowing down - FAST. You'll notice that we're only a few days into it and you're seeing the attempts less and less. Why? There's a simple answer.

Most people who have played this game love the costumes. They are by far the most beautiful and well-done costumes of ANY game on the entire market so it isn't a surprise that many have stockpiled them on multiple characters. I myself spent nearly $1000 in costumes just because I loved them and I wanted to have every one that came out for my class. Over 2 years, that's not that much money and I'm not alone. The vast majority of TET and PEN attempts that immediately took place after the update weren't from people Paying 2 Win - they were from people who ALREADY had costumes in bulk that they were bored with; costumes that were going to waste in their eyes.

And that's an important distinction, because the people who spend a couple thousand over the course of A COUPLE YEARS but get to benefit from that by CHANCE from an update we had no idea was coming are vastly different from people who will spend thousands of dollars instantaneously simply to get an advantage. I would propose that those individuals make up probably less than 1% of the entire playerbase. On the worst end, that 1% starts to take up the spots that the top 5% of the playerbase (gear-wise) was previously taking. The vast majority of people playing BDO are in the 95% and are NOT competing with that top 5% of no-lifers that have made BDO their entire existence and paying 2 win with costumes isn't really beneficial unless it's PAST TRI with TRI being so incredibly easy to obtain with normal effort.

TLDR: Is it P2W to melt costumes? Absolutely, but it's also incredibly expensive. Roughly 1% or less of the entire playerbase will be able to significantly benefit from paying 2 win on their items and let's not forget that it isn't necessarily a WIN to lose thousands upon thousands of dollars in gambles that don't even ENSURE a win. 95% of the playerbase doesn't compete with the top 5% of players in the first place. The only people really being effected by the P2W debacle are in the top 5%. So in short, if you're in the top 5% farewell! Or, you can join us down here at the lower 95. It's not so bad :)

What are you actually mad about?

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 05:45 AM PDT

Amidst all the outrage this week, let's not forget all the other things about BDO that made us frothing at the mouth. If you have the call to revert/fix one issue, what would you choose?

  1. The great Class Balancing failure of '18
  2. Sea Monster Hunting and Guild Fund changes
  3. Hystria Bot/Hack and other autobots (fishing, marketplace etc)
  4. Event-based Economy
  5. Enhancement System
  6. P2W Introducion of August
  7. (Fill in the blank - Free slot)

Personally my first priority is #3...

What about you guys? What is the community truly mad about?

European Union is fixing the journal bug

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 07:12 AM PDT

Since ancient ages, every half year the guild journals in BDO are breaking due to the daylight saving times. Pearl Abyss has now called Jean-Claude Juncker ( Commission President of the EU ) for help. Soon the daylight saving time will be abandoned in countries of the european union, and BDO players will be pleased with at least one bug being solved. (hope dies last right?, sauce: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-45366390).
