[Civ5] How exactly does Civ State wariness from stealing workers work? Posted: 29 Jan 2017 07:25 AM PST Basically, sometimes when I steal too many workers, it seems that many of the civ states became wary of me, and that becomes very annoying lategame. But I can't find the details online. How many times can I war an AI before they become permanently wary? Does warring them once and stealing multiple workers count any differenty form warring them repeatedly? And will all city states become wary of me if I abuse just 1 city state? Thanks, trying to become a little more proficient at civ 5 (slowly). [link] [comments]
How is Domestic Tourism calculated? (Fighting off culture victory) Posted: 29 Jan 2017 04:34 AM PST I'm not going for a culture victory myself (going for religion) but Mvemba is pushing hard on an early culture victory. I want to stop him without necessarily switching to culture myself. Nobody else is focusing on culture -- he has 160 domestic tourists and everyone else, myself included, has around 50, so I am scared. He has 10 visiting tourists already. There's precious little information that I can find about the actual mechanics of culture victory. The manual, civilopedia and both wikis have laughably little information about the interplay between domestic and visiting tourism. (They all state that "Your domestic tourists represent the tourists from your civilization that are currently happily vacationing within your borders" -- great but that doesn't help me understand how it's calculated at all!) First: To stop an opponent's cultural victory, I should just be focusing on domestic tourism, right? I don't care about attracting tourists from other nations, just bumping up my domestic score as high as possible to raise his visiting tourist target. Second: How do I improve my domestic tourism? Is it purely a product of culture, or do tourist attractions (e.g., great works, wonders) help me earn domestic tourism as well as foreign? I found this excellent article about tourism which goes into a lot of the detail of how tourism is created, but it's still a bit confusing/contradictory. It states that there are two sources of domestic tourism:
So that suggests that I only care about culture, not tourist attractions. However, it also says "each point of tourism taken from a civ reduces their domestic tourism by a point so if I can meet the unmet player and get tourism off them it will speed up my victory". So this suggests I also care about not feeding tourists to Kongo. That's kind of annoying since there is no UI which even tells me how many tourists I am losing to Kongo, let alone what the causes are. I assume I should be cutting trade routes, open borders, etc? Anyway, the plan is to start pumping out as much culture as I can, and not specifically focus on great works, etc. [link] [comments]

Posted: 29 Jan 2017 08:34 AM PST Hey Everyone! So I'm a bit of a music nerd, and it's driving me crazy that I don't know the title of the piece playing in the background upon completing the Venetian Arsenal. Can anyone help me out? What's the piece! For reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmhuMtCN0Oo [link] [comments]
Crowdsourcing New Unique Districts Posted: 29 Jan 2017 12:30 AM PST I've got a mod in which I've added a bunch of new districts to the game. The new districts are as follows: Butchers Quarter Millers Quarter Fishery Masons Quarter Smiths Quarter Forestry Quarter Government Center Medical Center Boardwalk Naval Base Cantina Quarter Cullinary Quarter Jewelers' Quarter Textiles Quarter I'm looking for ideas for unique districts that could replace these for civilizations currently in the game. There is lots and lots I don't know about Polish culture, or Chinese, or Arabian. If cities in these cultures had iconic districts that could replace one from the above list, I wouldn't know about it! So I'm writing reddit to ask for ideas. Let me know what you come up with and if I like it, it will make it into a mod :) EDIT, here are a few examples of what I mean:

Always Starting Right Next to Other Civs Posted: 29 Jan 2017 07:13 AM PST It doesn't matter what size map or how many other civs I add, I always start in a position where my city is right near another civilization, and usually in a position where they are blocking me from further expansion and good resources. It makes it very difficult to do anything other than warring immediately to clear the way to expand any further. [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Jan 2017 09:01 PM PST So I bought the game during New Years but couldn't get the the DLC at the time. (Gonna buy them next sale). So anyways like the title, is there any mods u guys recommend for simply making life a bit easier in game. Bit anything super game chasing though as I am still new to the game. Thx! Edit: What are community patches? Are they any good? [link] [comments]
I wish there was a go home command for my units. Posted: 28 Jan 2017 01:58 PM PST Is this something that could be added with the mod? Because it would be very useful and I can't believe it's not in the game. [link] [comments]
Suggestion: Give us a version control option (Civ VI) Posted: 28 Jan 2017 10:20 PM PST If Mac versions are going to be out of sync with PC players for months at a time, then give PC players the ability to go backwards easily for cross platform play. On that note, does anyone know how to do this currently? Would love to play with my Mac friend but cannot. [link] [comments]
The Civ6 Natural Boost Challenge (With Boost Reference Guide) Posted: 28 Jan 2017 12:27 PM PST THE NATURAL BOOST CHALLENGE: The challenge is simple: Earn every tech and civic boost (Eurekas and Inspirations) in the game "naturally", without any help from abilities that grant random boosts. Completing a tech or civic without first earning the boost will be considered failure. Can you achieve all boosts all the way through the information era? Exception: you are not required to boost the techs that can be boosted only through spies or great people. These techs are: Nuclear Fission, Rocketry, Lasers, Nuclear Fusion, Satellites, and Stealth Tech. Bonus points if you do manage to boost them, however. Please post in the comments how far you got and if you were able to complete the challenge. Also mention if you used any settings that were different from the suggested scenario. Here is a spreadsheet I collaborated on detailing what is needed to achieve each boost. Boosts are arranged by era on the first page, and by type on the second page. Rules and Restrictions: In order to achieve every boost "naturally", you must refrain from gaining any random boosts (unless it would be guaranteed to boost a tech that can only be boosted that way). That means:
Wonders
Great Scientists:
Great Admirals:
Great Engineers:
NOTE: Robert Goddard is allowed, because the boost it triggers for Rocketry cannot be earned "naturally". Suggested Scenario: Here is a scenario with a map seed that makes the exploration conditions doable. (Find a Continent, a Natural Wonder, another Civilization, and 3 City States.) I went with China to maximize the boost benefit (60% instead of 50%) and because the extra Builder charges and wonder construction will help with achieving a lot of boosts.
Looking forward to hearing how people do with this! How hard will it be? [link] [comments]
There needs to be more incentive to build sewers Posted: 28 Jan 2017 02:38 PM PST I never build sewers because they come too late, have a high maintenance cost, and don't provide that substantial of a benefit -- I'd rather just build neighborhoods and sacrifice a tile. Considering there are sewers in every part of the world excepting third world countries, I think sewers should provide more benefits than they currently do. Maybe add an amenity or two, since we all love not living in a city where there are rivers of shit [link] [comments]
