Which quests affect the ending in Fallout New Vegas?

Posted: 13 Jul 2017 05:14 AM PDT

I was playing New Vegas for a while, and I heard that some side quests affect the ending. And I want to get a 100% ending so can someone tell me which quests affect it?

foreshadowing for F05 in F04?

Posted: 13 Jul 2017 02:25 AM PDT

in 3, the railroad, the institute, and synths were introduced in the quest The Replicated Man. is there possibly anything like that in 4? i've been keeping my eyes open for stuff like that, but the only thing i think i've seen that could possibly be a lead is that one brotherhood scientist who's engineering some kind of medicine to temporarily mutate humans(?), and says she needs to be careful that it doesnt turn out like the FEV did. could that be a plot point for 5?

edit lol why are people saying that The Replicated Man wasnt foreshadowing? youre saying that setting up those two major factions and the main conflict of FO4, not to mention Madison Li going to the commonwealth at the end of 3, was just something they decided later "oh hey lets make a whole game expanding on this one weird side quest in 3"? thats ridiculous. im not saying that they had all of 4 planned out, but they definitely had a concept in mind for it.

[SPOILER!] Anyone notice this about the mayor of Diamond city?

Posted: 13 Jul 2017 12:56 PM PDT

It could have totally been a trick on my eyes. But when I first went to diamond city and you go to that stand where the major makes a speech, I swear I saw one of those "synth" mannequins standing in the middle of the stand, and when I looked back a minute later the major was there doing his speech and the mannequin was gone. (there's a theory that the mannequins are really synths placed by the institution to monitor the population). I went online to see if I could find anything about it and found out the major ultimately turns out to be a synth himself. But I haven't found anything about the mannequin being there before the major

[SPOILER] Saddening Results Caused by the Player's Actions

Posted: 13 Jul 2017 12:33 AM PDT

I recently watched a video showcasing the Tenpenny Tower Suite which required blowing up Megaton. I was going for a Bad Karma character anyway so I figured, "why not"? After rigging the bomb and going to the ruins, I saw Moira Brown ghoulified. The way she says forgives you because you "said sorry" and that you have to apologize to the other settlers made want to wrap myself with razorwire to regain manliness. I haven't explored all of the Wasteland so I wanted to know about depressing encounters that were caused "your characters'" decisions.

There is an item labelled "Whiskey" in the Cabot House that is just a junk item. Mildly Intriguing

The FO4 BoS reveal would have been a lot more impressive if I hadn't already known who they were

Posted: 13 Jul 2017 01:16 PM PDT

Even if you hadn't played any other FO game chances are you've already met them at the Cambirdge Police Station by the time you get to the reveal. Now when the Prydwen flies overhead after you kill Kellogg I'm just like, "...meh, you guys again..." Which makes me think why couldn't they have made it the Enclave? They're both power-hungry tech-hoarders... and it would've been a nice twist.

Question for people who played all Fallout NV DLC. Which was your least favorite? (courier's stash doesn't count)

Posted: 13 Jul 2017 08:34 AM PDT

I just complete them all and hated how liner and confusing dead money was. I don't know if anyone else had this problem, but dead money may of been the worst DLC i've ever played for a fallout game. The ending is so bad too. Considering you don't really get anything good in the ending, while with old world blues and others you get some really good unique items. But that's my opinion, what's the worst Fallout NV DLC to you? Other than courier's stash.

[Fallout 2] time limit? I keep dying suddenly for no reason

Posted: 13 Jul 2017 02:58 PM PDT

It is the 9th of november 2243, and I am caught in the wasteland outside san francisco. No matter where I travel, I die before I can reach any location. I am not irradiated or poisoned.

I thought F2 had a limit of like 13 years, but no other timer? Obviously I have not reached 13 years yet...

edit: seems like a glitch. After a few retries and then finally restarting the game (as in quit, load again, load save) it suddenly stopped happening. All is well!

Just finished Fallout 2, and it was really good.

Posted: 13 Jul 2017 02:40 PM PDT

After hours of getting stuck, I can finally say that I've finished the first two Fallout games. It was a great experience, especially Fallout 2, and I would recommend playing through the classics to anyone who hasn't yet. I also kind of get where the purists who dislike the newer games are coming from. I definitely think anyone who is subscribed here should play at least up to New Reno in Fallout 2, just to see the origins of the series and how different and in some ways better it is than Fallouts 3 & 4. I didn't enjoy all of my time wandering around the Den with my pipe rifle or getting stuck on the bridge at the gun runners' fort by Tycho, but overall I definitely had fun and gained a new perspective on the Fallout series as a whole.

My Thoughts On New Vegas DLC. What Are Yours?

Posted: 13 Jul 2017 09:28 AM PDT

Least Favorite to Favorite

Dead money had great lore and backstory, but way too much backtracking, unbearable, annoying gameplay, and a difficulty that was so artificially inflated it was ridiculous. The Sierra Madre felt like an an attempt at horror, but it failed due to the Mysterious Broadcast and the capabilities of the engine. It also forced you to do some very questionable things unless you had 75 speech or higher, which most people don't have by level 20 which is the recommended level of the DLC. The ending was also disappointing and if you got all the money, you couldn't get a good holorifle unless you gambled and backtracked a ton in the main story. The end also felt horribly forced, as if the dev team was told to finish it up in the next week.

Next would be Old World Blues. I went in at the recommended level of 15 which should have been like 25, and I got destroyed by roboscorpions. I was frustrated and angry the whole way through because nothing was living, and I ran out of stims, caps, and ammo fairly quickly. OWB was a victim of poor level design, with not much lore to back it up. The saving grace was that the research were so well done, and the comedy was put in masterfully to the point where it was funny but not forced. The weapons and armor were not only funny and ironic at times, but they were useful and very well designed. The ending was OK, but the unique items and perks is where this DLC pack really shines.

Honest Hearts was next. This DLC shines in how well the characters are written and how unique they are. The White Legs are generic and bland, but the atmosphere of this DLC is very real. Exploring Zion is a real experience and there is so much you need to look into to find the backstories behind everything from Joshua Graham to the Desert Ranger Armor to the survivalist's rifle. The ending is fairly well done, and it gives you an intriguing decision to make.

Lonesome Road was a masterpiece, better executed than the base game. Ulysses feels like a true villan, unlike Lanius, which is easy prey over level 20. This DLC adds so much depth to E-DE, and makes you emotionally identify with him. It also added a different danger in the form of the marked men, which also had interesting lore. The nuke truly changed the fate of the divide, changed Hopeville from Ulysses' dream and pride to a ruined shadow of its former self. The atmosphere was amazing, truly capturing the immediate after-effects of nuclear devastation. When you finally got to Ulysses, the man who had been terrorizing you this entire time, you could even fight alongside him. Then you made a major choice, the consequences of which would send quakes around the wasteland for decades to come. Simply wonderful.

Dead Money: 6/10 OWB: 7/10 Honest Hearts: 7/10 Lonesome Road: 10/10

Inspirational material for FO?

Posted: 13 Jul 2017 02:13 PM PDT

Here is an article I saw today with a link to an old film called Atomic Attack set in the 1950's. I see several elements of the happy 1950's family in the film. I only watched a few minutes on a break at work. Going to see the remainder at home tomight.

Favorite endgame loadouts Fallout 4

Posted: 13 Jul 2017 02:07 AM PDT

I always stuck to the inquisitor's marine armor and cowl, combined with Atom's Judgement and the Kiloton Radium Rifle or splatter cannon in the endgame. What did you choose? Did you prefer raw armor rating and damage or did you focus more on your aesthetic?

I crash whenever I start up FNV (Honest Hearts DLC)

Posted: 13 Jul 2017 05:56 AM PDT

So by total accident and not paying attention, I started the Honest Hearts DLC. I'm at the part where I need to raid the bad guys (forget their name, sorry) at their base. However, when I walk to there, my computer does one of two things: It totally crashes, or it freezes with me staring into the distance. I've downloaded a few nexus mods that should've done the trick, but when I started it up again, it just crashes. Thanks if you can help me.

Am I the only one that thinks Fallout 3 is beautiful?

Posted: 13 Jul 2017 03:44 PM PDT

It seems that a lot of people think Fallout 3 is ugly and that it's too greenish brown and gray. I find this completely true and that's why I love it. It's what makes the game's atmosphere so much more enjoyable to me.

A wasteland isn't supposed to be this grand, colorful paradise with vivid colors. It's supposed to be ugly and the color scheme works well with that. From walking outside of Vault 101 to looking out from the top of the Washington Monument, I see a place that's sore on the eyes and that's what brings me back to replay the game so much.

I'm curious to know whether other people think the same way I do or everybody really does think it's too bland.
