With two supermajors back-to-back, as well as the PGR season coming to a close, lots has been going on, which not only means that player rankings have been shaken up quite a bit, but tier lists must have been as well! Let's see how stuff has changed, now that the Summer of Smash is upon us!

Our upcoming saga will have an Amateur Bracket for everyone to participate!

What is an Amateur Bracket?

An Amateur Bracket have many names: Resurrection Bracket, Buster Bracket, Redemption Bracket, and etc. but the purpose is always the same: Provide more tournament play for everyone who didn't make it out of pools.

How much does it cost? How do I enter?

Amateur Bracket is 100% free to enter! If you participated in the Wii U singles bracket, you will be added into this Bracket automatically.

When does it start?

July 8th 4PM PST. Immediately after pool play is done.

Melee and Smash 4 Player Parallels

I feel like it's been mentioned before how the Melee and Smash 4 scenes parallel one another a little, so I decided to just write it out.

Note: obviously the scenes don't match exactly, so occasionally a player will be matched with more than one player from the other scene

I got lazy near the end so I only really did the top 10 and then some other random obvious ones

Melee Player Smash 4 Player Explanation
[A]rmada (Peach, Fox) TSM l ZeRo (Diddy Kong, Lucina) The undisputed best in their game and clear favorites to win any tournament they enter. Extremely refined neutral, punish, and edgeguarding. Both also make incredible efforts to grow the scene (Armada through B.E.A.S.T and DreamHack, ZeRo through YouTube)
Liquid` Hungrybox (Jigglypuff) RNG l Dabuz (Rosalina) Patient and well-studied, both are able to overcome the weight of their characters and exploit their strong suits. Their matches can go slowly, and they are often cited as "killing the game".
C9 l Mango (Falco, Fox) NRG l Nairo (Zero Suit Samus, Explosive and flashy, with an extensive following and a wildly successful stream. Both have a multitude of characters that they are not unwilling to pull out at high level.
C9 l Mango (Falco, Fox) C9 l Ally (Mario) Cloud9 picked up two very similar players. Both are known for being demons of their respective games' #1, and have incredibly read-heavy playstyles that often result in them choosing very unorthodox options that work anyway.
MVG FOX l Mew2King (Marth, Sheik) MVG FOX l Mew2King (Cloud) ...
MVG FOX l Mew2King (Marth, Sheik) FOX MVG l MKLeo (Cloud, Marth) Both sponsored by Echo Fox and MVG League. Tend to gravitate towards sword characters and therefore have incredibly precise spacing. Both have devastating punish games that can lead to a quick stock loss if you're not careful. Both are also incredible doubles players. Tend to struggle with the #1 of their respective games
TSM l Leffen (Fox) Mr.R (Sheik, Cloud) The textbook player. Deliberate and methodical, always choosing the right option and executing it flawlessly. Both also have a rather interesting Twitter presence.
EG l PPMD (Falco, Marth) Ranai (Villager) Clear crowd favorites. These players don't show up as often as others, but when they do, they always make a splash, and everyone roots for them. Both have incredibly intelligent neutrals that test the limits of their opponents.
Tempo l Axe (Pikachu) Ranai (Villager) Incredibly well loved, these players are basically the sole representatives of their characters at the top level, and make them work, somehow.
PG l Plup (Sheik, Fox) CLG l VoiD (Sheik) Sheik players, right on the edge of the absolute top. Both have nearly mastered a particular component of the game that not many other players are as competent in (Plup with platform play, VoiD with combos). Are prone to getting tilted.
IMT l Shroomed (Sheik, Marth) CLG l VoiD (Sheik) Known for their consistency, generally beating those below them and losing to those above them. Have had somewhat of a slump in recent times but are poised to return to their former glory.
G2 l Westballz (Falco) IMT l ANTi (Mario, Cloud) Not afraid to call others out and back up their smack talk. Are capable of beating the best but are also prone to randomly bustering out for no real reason.
CLG l SFAT (Fox) MSF l Larry Lurr (Fox) Strong Fox players that are capable of beating the best, and even their slumps are marked by flashes of excellence.
MSF l The Moon (Marth) RvL l Mr.E (Marth, Lucina) Marth players from New York. Both had streaks of excellence in mid-late 2016 but have since fallen off.
DJ Nintendo (Fox, Bowser, Pikachu) LG l Abadango (Mewtwo, Meta Knight, Bayonetta) Can't decide who they want to play; initially rose to fame by using one of the worst characters in the game
[A]ndroid (Sheik) HY 6S l Javi (Cloud, Sheik) The doubles partner. Competent singles players but excel when teaming with their top-ranked close relatives (Armada and MKLeo)

Japan actually has a lot of very, VERY good Little Mac players that I think often go under the radar. I want as many people as possible to know about them so that they get the chance to be added to the compendium.
