| TIL Force Staff does not cancel channeling, unless you are the caster. Posted: 26 Jun 2017 06:59 AM PDT Basically, it is not the push, but the act of casting Force Staff which cancels channeling. This means that if your teammate is TPing and is about to get killed mid-TP, you can use Force Staff on him/her. However, if you are the one TPing, you cannot. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 26 Jun 2017 11:11 AM PDT How do you guys feel about this item on the hero? When is it a good grab? Obviously CK with a quick treads/armlet is very strong early on. However, his farming speed is pretty slow and in a long game he has trouble keeping up with the farm of other carries (in my experience). The midas helps him get the big items quicker and a six slotted CK is near unstoppable depending on the lineup of the enemy team. I just can't decide if delaying the earlier items is worth it. | Heroes every noob should know (?) Posted: 26 Jun 2017 02:45 PM PDT This is not trying to say what you "should" play or "what heroes will gain me MMR" because obviously I am not good enough to comment on that. But there are a few things I wish I'd known when just starting out that probably would have saved a lot of miserable games and "learning by trial and error" (in other words, getting your ass kicked up and down the map 100 times). Anyway, if I had to start over and pick 10 heroes, here's what I would do. I would be interested to hear what anyone else has to add, or what more experienced players think. Juggernaut - "Oh shit, nobody will pick and we're losing gold. What's a relatively safe pick that is strong in lane and works with almost any lineup?" Lich - "Oh shit, we don't have any supports. What can I pick that's simple to use. And is effective without a lot of gold, and has abilities that can totally fuck up a teamfight later in the game?" CM - Same thing, only W and E are different Viper - "Oh shit, we don't have a mid hero and I don't know any of the fancy ones, but at least I can hold serve by screwing over the enemy mid." Bristleback - "Oh shit, we don't have an offlaner or a tank, what do I do?" Sven - "Oh shit, they picked Chaos Knight or Phantom Lancer." or "Oh shit, we don't have a carry." (optional): Abaddon, Spectre - "I would like it if I could win 80% of my games by buying Radiance any time before 30 minutes." Spirit Breaker - "Oh good, ANOTHER Riki/Sniper combo, that's not annoying or anything." Chaos Knight - "Hey, they didn't pick Sven or Axe, free win." [link] [comments] |
| What should I have done differently this game? Posted: 26 Jun 2017 08:06 PM PDT Hello everyone! In the game I have linked I was the PA. I truly thought my team was going to win. We communicated well, we got FB top on underlord. Even got megas. But, later the in game the spectre and sniper were able to handle the waves of megas and we tried two or three times to push to end with aegis but couldn't. In the end we lost and I think that personally I made some game losing choices near the end regardless of the lead we had. I'm really just looking for advice on maybe the items I should have bought or how I engaged maybe? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 26 Jun 2017 12:09 PM PDT In a team fight, when others are focusing on a hero, is it best to use it below the enemy hp threshold (i.e. 40% at lvl 16), or use it earlier on (say 50 to 60%) while allies are still hitting them? [link] [comments] |
| Can someone help me improve as a carry player? Posted: 26 Jun 2017 10:27 AM PDT I find my self losing a lot of solo games even when I get farm and get core items on time. Can someone help me improve my mid-late game impact, so even if my team are behind I can still give the momentum to turn games around and win. https://www.dotabuff.com/players/414622322 [link] [comments] |
| Micro noob here - How do I set control groups for spiderlings and spiderites? Posted: 26 Jun 2017 07:37 AM PDT hey, I've got 2k hours with dota but really want to improve my micro as it is currently total trash. I randomed meepo the other day and pretty much single-handedly lost the game. I want to play Brood, and I've heard tell of people setting up control groups for spiderlings and spiderites separately. I know how to set a control group in settings and CTRL+F1 etc etc, but my question is whether you can set a group for all FUTURE spiderlings/ites after the current ones die. So i set F1 as spiderlings and F2 as ites, will I be able to just press F1 for the rest of the game for all future spiderlings? If not - is this possible or do I have to keep setting control groups? Thanks in advance - hope that makes sense! [link] [comments] |
| Can someone help me understand drafting Posted: 26 Jun 2017 08:22 AM PDT When me and my friends do a 5 stack, I am usually left to draft. So I get the basics, you usually start with a versatile hero that can play a few different roles (sandking, clockwork, puck etc) and then pick in priority, usually leaving your safelaner and mid till last. When drafting the heroes, you need a mix of team fight and push, and for the heroes to work well together, and you usually gear your draft towards a particular playstyle (drow strat, or set up for invoker). What I don't understand is things like tempo setters. What are they? Surely any hero can set a tempo of the game (within reason)? I just don't get a deeper level of drafting needed to craft a good draft, despite watching pros, I don't understand why certain picks are good over others, especially with mid laners. Can someone help a 2K Scrub out? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 26 Jun 2017 07:58 AM PDT Hello, I am a ~600 mmr player and I clearly do not like being at that low of an MMR. I normally play position 4-5 but normally lose when I do. When I play carry positions such as 1-2 we normally win games. I was wondering who a good hero would be to spam at that low of an MMR to grind and get at least to 1k. The hardest hero that I can play consistently well is probably spectre. Thank you guys in advance. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 25 Jun 2017 11:14 PM PDT Hi, I am a 3.5k scrub. I usually adjust when I'm playing ranked. My problem is sometimes I want to play carry but sometimes my team also picks carry and I'm forced to be support regardless if I already picked a core hero. Their usual defense is "your gpm is low", "you have no rampage", etc. But how can I even bring it up if I keep on adjusting on most games. I think I'm pretty decent with my gpm when I play core (450-500ish) gpm but yeah. This is my problem, I want to help the team win but I don't want to be stuck being support all the time. I also bring this up now because I know there are a lot of 4k/maybe even 5k who can win without playing their "main" role and pubs are a lot different than the competitive scene where one player just sticks to their respective roles all the time. How do you think can I tell them that I want to play carry and be able to without having them say to me that we'll lose because my ave gpm isn't 500. Sorry, I'm kinda frustrated, thanks btw. | Need help when it comes to self analyzing my own replays Posted: 26 Jun 2017 08:32 AM PDT I just started watching my own replays, so that I can improve. I just wanna know what are the things I have to look out for. I know some of the stuff : 1: Analyzing teamfights - figuring out my positioning during those, how I could have prevented myself dying, maybe look for an oppurtunity where I could have saved an ally but didn't. 2: look where I placed my own wards and see how effective they were and where they should have been placed instead. Check for where enenmy placed wards to look out for patterns for future games. But what I really wanna know is stuff to look out for when things arent really going on. Things I can improve on that don't really involve teamfights. Movement patterns, farm patterns, etc. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 26 Jun 2017 11:29 AM PDT How to counter necro mid? I found it very hard to go against him at mid. What hero is best to counter him ? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 26 Jun 2017 10:00 AM PDT If i lose all 10 games while calibrating, am i gonna get lower mmr? [link] [comments] |
| Tips on how to farm more efficiently in safe/offlane? Posted: 26 Jun 2017 09:58 AM PDT I have no trouble with mid, usually racking up around 60-70 last hits within 10 minutes, depending on who I pick and who I'm up against. But whenever I play safelane or offlane, that number drops dramatically, usually due to having to compete for farm with my teammate. What can I do to raise this number? [link] [comments] |
| Just calibrated player wants some advice Posted: 26 Jun 2017 06:11 AM PDT Hello fellow dota players! I just calibrated my party mmr at 1.8k mmr and I think that my solo is about the same (not yet calibrated), even though I prefer to play with friends. I really want to improve as my goal would be 4k at ti8. I know there is a huge gap between 1.8 and 4k but I have numerous friends with high mmr so I think they can help me improve faster. Just wanted some advice base on my opendota.(https://www.opendota.com/players/97606011) I am quite a new player, played around 300-350 matches with bots and about 100-150 unranked. I like to watch competitive dota and a lot of streamers so if you have any suggestions, they are greatly appreciated. Any tips welcome, especially about the offlane and support role. TL;DR : Opendota (https://www.opendota.com/players/97606011), want to learn how to play offlane and support better. Any tips welcome. Thanks in advance! GL & HF [link] [comments] |
| Could I get some game decision advice on my Storm game? (2.5-3kish mmr) Posted: 26 Jun 2017 09:49 AM PDT https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3275407545. I rarely play mid but decided to play Storm this game as the 2 supports basically instalocked. Regardless, I feel that I did well in lane; I probably did a ton of small things wrong but I was top networth until 18 minutes or so. Because of that I am looking more for advice on my decision making this game. 10-20 mins in I did some rotations when I felt my team had the advantage; they felt ineffective overall. Any advice about whether I made good rotations based on my map information, or if there were some obvious ones I didn't make? A few I noticed were:
Later on I tried pushing lanes mostly, but was usually met with a core that I was uncomfortable diving. I died at 29:05, feel that was mostly me not aggressively checking the minimap for a rotation and staying too long, if they had played better I wouldn't even have been able to ball lightning out. However, I definitely need to work on my camera positioning for ball lightning as well. The biggest questions I have is what should I be doing in the midgame? I feel like grouping up as 5 and farming the radiant jungle is an autolose situation, so I was trying to be somewhat risky in splitpushing. Any insight on what I could have done better? Should I be split pushing more aggressively? Are there any kills on the map I should have gone for that I was too scared to? This game felt really hard with the antimage and sniper playing way too safe. and giving up the map to the enemy. For my item build, I tend to always build bloodstone first. Not sure if that is always correct and in what situations not to build it. I was planning on going linkens next as I knew shadow shaman with blink would make me an easy kill. After getting the Perseverance I felt like I needed travels first to aggressively split-push and make action happen. Any criticisms of my item build? Should there be some trigger to tell me that I needed travels before I ended up buying the Perseverance, or should I have been considering another item altogether? TL:DR Mostly interested in my midgame decision making, but definitely don't mind advice on any big mechanical errors I made. How could I have turned this game around past the 20 minute mark or did I need to make less mistakes earlier to have a chance? [link] [comments] |
| Death Prophet in this Meta(7.06d) Posted: 26 Jun 2017 05:26 AM PDT Been playing some death prophet lately and she feels really strong. Yet I dont see her picked very often in the pro scene and her win rate in pubs isnt really good either. Am I missing out on something? Would like to get some input by higher ranked players if possible why she isnt picked more often in VHS bracket [link] [comments] |
| How to push towers and actually close out a game? Posted: 26 Jun 2017 08:41 AM PDT My friends and I just started getting back into Dota, and we're complete trash lol. We've won like 3 games in the 15 we've played. One huge problem we have is that we can never close the game out. Almost every game we play lasts for an hour, and even when we get the early advantage we can't ever convert it to pushing towers and winning. Last night, we started off way ahead of the other team but just couldn't shut down their split push from BroodMother. Any tips? Here's the match: https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3274494465 If you have the chance to check out the game, I'd love any further tips. We're super new so I'm sure we're doing tons of obvious stuff wrong. Thanks! Oh and one more side question - is there any way to see our unranked MMR or some other measure of our skill? I know we're bad but I'm very curious just how bad we are. Edit: I'm the bloodseeker. [link] [comments] |
| Need someone (preferably 3.5K or higher) to analyze this game Posted: 26 Jun 2017 08:34 AM PDT I only request a slightly higher MMR cuz I want someone who is atleast 1K MMR more than me to analyze this game. Feel free to go through the game nonetheless. I am the Rubick [link] [comments] |
| Micro-aspect (learning hard heroes) vs macro-aspect (actual usefulness of the hero) Posted: 26 Jun 2017 12:29 AM PDT I want to ask about this after I heard posts "I can micro good as arc warden but have low winrate." OR "noobs think Magnus´Q is a skill-shot, while pro players take it as good nuke for clearing waves etc". The question is: Are there skills which seem (or are) hard to use, but even if you use them correctly, they are not as good? [link] [comments] |
| Brood vs Meepo midlane matchup Posted: 26 Jun 2017 07:58 AM PDT I played this matchup and had serious trouble with it, from starting items, skill build and general playstyle. Spiders are killed by net and double poof while incap bite doesn't work against the spell burst and multiple targets. I'm absolutely certain there's a good way to play around meepo as brood in mid though but I just can't see it. If anyone can help analyse this matchup, where it went wrong and what can be done to win it'd be great. [link] [comments] |
| Need tips to improve my support efficiency Posted: 26 Jun 2017 12:22 AM PDT Hi, currently I plays 2k average unranked myself (SEA server). I still havent calibrated my unranked, my last played solo ranked are a year ago. My party ranked are 1.7k. I also plays fews high skill unranked game if I am playing with my stack (a 3k and 5k player). I find games between 2k and 3k has a lots of different. 3k draft usually consists of jungler and solo offlane. 3k will also punish draft that are very late game oriented. After playing few high skill level game, I found myself belong to where I am.

| I'm downloading the game right now, and am very overwhelmed. Are there any good intro guides? Posted: 26 Jun 2017 12:07 AM PDT To preface this, I have played a decent amount of League of Legends and I am masters in Smite (Its basically the ranking below the top 25 in each respective ranked mode) By this, I mean that I know how general mobas work. But the thing is, I don't understand Dota2 at all. You can eat trees? You can't recall, you have to buy a scroll? There's a courier but it's shared between everyone? Theres a secret shop in the forest? And ontop of that, one of the biggest reasons I want to get into Dota is that every character is free. That being said, does that mean I have to get comfortable with each characters kit before going into a match? TL;DR: Is there a good beginner's guide on how to begin playing Dota2? Thanks! | Need a review on my WD match [1.1k] Posted: 26 Jun 2017 06:53 AM PDT I belive this match was my best as a sup of all times. I stacked, zoned (poorly), warded, smoked and did all a sup can do. However, I know there's much to learn and I'd like to know what could be done to get even better. ID: 3275354186 [link] [comments] |
