My Battle-Priest is done

Posted: 10 Jun 2017 07:42 PM PDT

It took a long time to complete but I've done it. I made my battle priest.

He's an Imperial named Aegis, and he only uses a shield, heavy armor, and restoration. An entire playthrough tanking and healing my followers and companions has taught me a few things.

1) keep spellbreaker and targe of the blooded on hotkey to switch between defensive and offensive capabilities.

2) shield charge is your best friend, use it.

3) health doesn't matter so much as elemental resistances. I don't care how much health you have. Mages and dragons will kill you.

But mainly I want to tell the world, yes legendary can be completely with just a shield. It'll just take you a long, long, time.

It's really sad when someone desperately starts yelling "die" because they know swinging their weapon at you won't do anything.

Speaking of which, I watched Birna from Winterhold yell "I will see you die" or something like that at a dragon just before that dragon got her into its mouth and threw her at the side of the mountain.

My chaos enchantments are coming out slightly weaker on certain stahlrim weapons than others

Posted: 11 Jun 2017 05:18 AM PDT

I'm enchanting all my stahlrim weapons with chaos and frost and the chaos enchant comes out as 121 points of damage on some stahlrim weapons while it comes out as 118 points of damage on others stahlrim weapons. My enchanting potion hasn't run out during the enchanting process so that's not the issue. The chaos damage even came out stronger on one stahlrim dagger over the other which makes no sense at all. Is there a small margin of chaos damage points that is left up to chance when enchanting stalhrim weapons? I didn't have this issue when applying the chaos enchantment to dragon or daedric weapons.

I know it's only 3 points but I'm pretty OCD about getting the strongest gear possible without cheating.

Oh and the frost damage is varying between 75-77 points on stahlrim weapons. What gives?

Better Armor and Gear to the Imperial Legion

Posted: 11 Jun 2017 05:16 AM PDT

There is one thing about the imperial forces in Skyrim that always have bothered be, the armour and gear of the soldiers.

When starting out the game, as far as I thought, imperial heavy armour was reserved only for the very elite, legates and such. I thought of the system was more akin to the one in Morrowind, where you first get chainmail, and as time goes by it gets replaced with steel plate, and finally a gilded officer armour. But however, this is not the case, just after you join the legion you get to choose between light (leather), medium (supported leather), and heavy (steel plate and chainmail) armour. Why is it then that only a selected few have the arguably better plate armour?

I've heard quite a few explanations why this is the case, for example that the Empire cannot afford it. But then, why do we have a choice in the first place? If that was the case it would probably mirror the stormcloaks, where you receive the officer armour at the very end of the questline.

So, what do I propose? Well, I would like to see the majority of the legion wear heavy armour, just like they did in earlier titles, and perhaps reserve the studded variety to an archery class. Yes, I would like to see more classes in the legion.
The most soldiers would most likely heavy infantry, welding sword and shield, heavily armoured, they are the bulk of the army. The legionaries also have a bow and arrows for some skirmishing before the mele encounter. The next largest class I would like to be archers (akin to the foresters in tesIV) they have a lighter equipment, a better bow and skirmish for a longer time. The third class is the heaviest of them all, the cavalry, which is basically a legionary with a faced helmet on horseback. Lastly, we have the speciality troops, scouts, battlemages, engineers and other small groups that are few in number but play a key role in the legion.

This is my interpretation of how a more realistic legion would look, and this alone could make the civil war more dynamic and challenging to play. Am I onto something, or not? anyway please leave your thoughts below!

PS I am no modder and have no modding skills whatsoever, so if you know of a mod that fixes this please do tell me.
